UFN 22Today’s “UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares” event is already underway from the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.

Preliminary action has already begun, with the Live Spike TV broadcast kicking off at 8 PM EST (5 PM PST).

The main event for tonight’s UFN 22 event features a middleweight bout between Nate Marquardt and Rousimar Palhares. The co-main event has Charles Oliveira facing Efrain Escudero in a 159 lbs catchweight bout.

Escudero weighed in at 159 pounds for their lightweight bout on Tuesday. Both fighters have agreed to meet in a catchweight bout and Escudero will have 20% of his “show” money given to Oliveira.

Don’t forget that following tonight’s Live Spike broadcast, the first episode of this seasons “The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck” will air at 10 PM EST (7 PM PST).

With only four bouts listed for the two-hour televised event, Spike is bound to rebroadcast one or more preliminary matches. Therefore, we’ll be keeping the spoilers off the main page.

The event is headlined by a light-heavyweight match between former UFC fighters Keith Jardine and Trevor Prangley, the current Shark Fights light-heavyweight champ.

Shine Fights 3 posterShine Fight Promotions held their Lightweight Grand Prix tonight at the Council Casino in Newkirk, OK.

The eight-man, one-night card saw the quarterfinal and semifinal bouts go for two five-minute rounds, with a three minute overtime for draws. Fighters were not allowed to elbow opponents in the first two rounds but would be allowed in the final. Yellow Cards were in place for the event, thus any fighter to receive one would lose part of their purse.

The live pay-per-view broadcast began at 9 PM EST (6 PM PST).

The LW GP saw Drew Fickett defeat Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett in their quarterfinal bout, by landing a guillotine in the first round. Fickett then went on to face Dennis Bermudez in the semis, landing another submission (rear-naked-choke) in the first round to move on to the finals. It didn’t take Fickett long, at 2:02 of the first round he submitted Carlo Prater with a rear-naked-choke to win the Shine Fight lightweight grand-prix tournament.

The MMA News will be ringside for Maximum Fighting Championships latest event, “MFC 26: Retribution” this evening from the River Cree Resort and Casino in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The live action starts at approx. 8 PM EST (5 PM PST) with the unaired preliminary card. The live HDNet broadcast will start at 10 PM EST (7 PM PST) and The MMA News will be there providing live results for the event.

The event is headlined by a MFC lightweight title defense by champion Antonio McKee who puts his ten fight win streak on the line against Luciano Azevedo when both men step into the ring. The co-main event sees the return of Canadian welterweight Ryan Ford to the MFC and will face Douglas Lima.

Hosting the MFC broadcast duties will be HDNet Fights announce team which will feature “The Voice” Michael Schiavello and Frank “Twinkle Toes” Trigg.
