UFC Vegas 53 will take place this weekend, headlined by an electric bantamweight scrap between Rob Font and Marlon Vera. Both men have been touted to be future title contenders, although only one man will be left with his hand raised when the bout comes to an end.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski also features on the co-main event, taking on a former middleweight in the form of Jake Collier. The card also features numerous well-established names such as Andre Fili, Darren Elkins, and Krzysztof Jotko.

Rob Font vs. Marlon Vera

In the main event of the night, we see Now England Cartel product Rob Font take on Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera. Both men are extremely durable customers, neither with a KO loss on their records. However, Rob Font’s striking, especially his educated jab, will give him the advantage in the stand-up department.

Vera may have the advantage on the ground, but Font’s takedown defense will likely be enough to fend off any attempts by ‘Chito’ to bring the fight to the mat for any extended period of time.

We are going to take Rob Font by decision in this one, which can be found at 2.62 odds on Betway.

Andrei Arlovski vs. Jake Collier

This is a simple enough pick to make. Andrei Arlovski typically defeats most heavyweights who aren’t of a top 15 caliber level. Collier is a tricky fighter with some inventive striking, especially for the division. However, expect Arlovski to neutralize the output of the former middleweight, in typical ‘Pitbull’ fashion.

We will once again go for a decision prop, with Arlovski by point available at a line of 2.30.

Andre Fili vs. Joanderson Brito

This seems like a bizarre matchup for the UFC to have made in all honesty. Fili is a 17-fight UFC veteran who is just entering his prime at the age of 31. Brito is 0-1 in the UFC, having lost a close decision to Bill Algeo at the start of the year.

Fili is an excellent competitor who has been in the octagon with the likes of Max Holloway, Yair Rodriguez, and Bryce Mitchell. He is the obvious pick, and yet again, we will predict the fight to go the distance, in Fili’s favor. He can be found at 2.50 odds on Betway.

The upcoming headline fight of UFC Vegas 53 features a bantamweight clash between Rob Font and Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera. The fight promises to be an action-packed striking affair, with both men known for their durability and kickboxing prowess.

Rob Font goes into this fight as the bookie’s favourite to win, but Marlon Vera has built a career on defying the odds. Who will pick up the win and take that next step towards title contention? Let’s see what the LowKickMMA staff have to say:

LowKick MMA Staff Predictions for Rob Font vs. Marlon Vera

Frank Bonada

Rob Font and Marlon Vera are elite bantamweights who both have the potential to be future title challengers, regardless of how this bout plays out. However, in this fight, I believe that the jab of Font will be the great equalizer. Vera will not have an answer to the preferred strike of Font, especially in the mid-range. This, paired with Font’s exceptional ability to build off the jab, makes it hard to predict any outcome than a Rob Font victory, most likely by decision due to Vera’s toughness.

If you’re in agreement, then syndicate casino reviews is the ideal platform to place some money on the New England Cartel prospect.

Prediction: Rob Font

Ross Markey

Top-level competition between both Rob Font and Marlon Vera is something both men share in abundance – particularly in the last 24 months, with varying degrees of success. Font, who to the consensus, appears to have the higher ceiling when compared with Ecuador native, Vera, tipped to eventually challenge for bantamweight gold despite his December falter against common-foe, Jose Aldo. Font’s ability to set a pace quite early and consistently over the course of five rounds, mixed with his boxing accuracy gives him my nod in the UFC Vegas 53 headliner.

Prediction: Rob Font

Lewis Simpson

I’m expecting a banger between Font and Vera. Both men are capable of leaving victorious. However, I’m predicting Font to drag this fight into deep waters and to walk away with a hard-fought, gritty win. Font’s toughness and output have always been a key factor in his success. If you look at both men’s recent losses to Jose Aldo, Font was able to show some glimmers of hope and actually out-scored Aldo in significant strikes. Vera, on the other hand, was outclassed on the feet by Aldo in the first and dominated in the third by Aldo’s grappling credentials. Vera was also losing to Frankie Edgar before scoring the knockout. Due to Vera being so hot and cold, I’m going with Font’s consistently and output to do the damage.

Prediction: Rob Font

Patrick Post

I expect Rob Font to get the victory, think his striking is better than Vera’a and he’ll be able to work behind his jab well to keep ‘Chito’ out at range, see him winning via decision.

Murdo Todd

Rob Font by unanimous decision.

A UFC bantamweight matchup between rising contenders Rob Font and Marlon Vera is set to headline a UFC Fight Night event on April 30.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto was the first to report the booking.

Font is coming off of his first setback in a while during his UFC career, losing to former UFC champion José Aldo last December. Before that, he earned four straight victories over the likes of Marlon Moraes and Cody Garbrandt.

This will be Font’s third straight UFC main event after headlining Fight Nights in his win against Garbrandt and his unanimous decision loss to Aldo. Earlier in his career, he earned wins over current Bellator champion Sergio Pettis and Thomas Almeida in dominant performances.

Font will face a tough task in Vera, who will fight in his first career UFC main event. He rebounded from a tough loss to Aldo in late 2020 by earning back-to-back victories over Frankie Edgar and Davey Grant.

Vera’s knockout of Edgar at UFC 268 was arguably one of the most violent finishes in 2021.

Vera began his rise in the bantamweight division by handing Sean O’Malley his first loss at UFC 252. He also earned wins over the likes of Andre Ewell and Brian Kelleher since making his UFC debut back at UFC 180.

Font and Vera will compete for positioning in the stacked bantamweight division. Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan will finally fight in their title rematch at UFC 273, nearly a year after their first matchup ended in controversy.
