Sam Alvey is set to face off against Micha? Oleksiejczuk this weekend in the featured preliminary bout of UFC Vegas 59.

‘Smilin’ Sam is on an unfortunate run of form right now, having come failed to pick up a win in his past eight UFC bouts. Seven ended in losses, whilst he also found himself in a draw against Da Un Jung.

In a recent exclusive interview with LowKickMMA, Sam Alvey addressed this winless streak he is currently on. He stated the following:

“Alright, so I’ll start this by saying none of it’s my fault, all of it’s the judges. I’ve been screwed a couple times. Then I gotta go blame your boy Marc Goddard. That rotten jerk cost me two fights. So anyway, I’ve got a bunch of excuses. But at the end of the day, I didn’t win the fights. And I understand. So I’ve gotta go out there and, I gotta do what I haven’t been doing, I’ve gotta finish fights. I can’t let it go to the decision, I can’t let it play out. I need to get that killer instinct back.”

When asked if he was surprised that he has not been released by the UFC, Alvey stated he was, but reiterated that he has put in the work and is now reaping the rewards.

“It is absolutely surprising that they have not cut me,” said Alvey. “I truly expected to be cut, I mean truly expected to be cut after Julian Marquez. Even before that, I wouldn’t have blamed them, because in the UFC you have to win. The UFC have talked to me, they do realize, they kinda back up and say ‘yeah, he won a couple of those fights that he didn’t end up winning.’ But they’ve also said, ‘listen, you accept everything, you have fought these studs on no notice, you have fought guys, the future best in the world, without question. You just say yes and we’re going to respect what you’ve done, and let you fight out your contract.’”

Sam Alvey On Facing Micha? Oleksiejczuk At UFC Vegas 59

Sam Alvey’s opponent this weekend, Micha? Oleksiejczuk, is no easy layup for the veteran to get back to winning ways. The hard-hitting Pole holds wins over Shamil Gamzatov, Gadzhimurad Antigulov, and Gian Villante. When addressing what his opponent brings to the fight, Sam Alvey stated:

“What he does well, he moves a ton. He’s always got that motion. He likes taking the center of the cage and pushing me back. He’s always up and down. He’s not particularly active with his hands, but when he throws them, it goes from zero to a hundred real quick. And then that little bit of footwork and motion that he gets working, it can be hard to overcome. But I’ve had a good camp, and I’m looking forward to overcoming it.”

Emerging UFC middleweight prospect, Cody Brundage has welcomed the opportunity to share the Octagon with the likes of Gerald Meerschaert, Eryk Anders, or veteran, Sam Alvey in the future should he defeat The Ultimate Fighter finalist, Treasen Gore at next month’s UFC Vegas 58 event.

7-2 as a professional, Brundage, an alum of both LFA and Dana White’s Contender Series – has suffered losses to the fellow emerging talents of Nick Maximoc, and William Knight – getting off the mark in the UFC with an eye-catching first round guillotine win against Dalcha Lungiambula back in March.

Slated to return beneath a high-profile lightweight main event between former undisputed champion, Rafael dos Anjos and the streaking, Rafael Fiziev on July 9. at the UFC Apex facility, Brundage draws the aforenoted TUF finalist, Gore – who dropped a tournament finale against Bryan Battle in his Octagon bow

Cody Brundage lists a trio of potential future opponents with a victory at UFC Vegas 58

Previewing his upcoming Octagon outing at the beginning of July, Brundage admitted that bouts against division staples like Alvey, Meerschaert, or Anders most definitely interest him should he overcome Gore.

“You know, I wouldn’t mind fighting Sam Alvey,” Cody Brundage told LowKick MMA reporter, Frank Bonada this week. “I wouldn’t mind fighting Eryk Anders, I wouldn’t mind fighting Gerald Meerschaert – any of those guys – I’d consider them vets. They’ve been in the UFC a long time, they’ve proven a lot and they’ve done some really big things in the sport.

“I’m a fan of most of those guys but yeah, I would enjoy fighting any of them, I like that matchup,” Cody Brundage explained. “So yeah, there are some (some future matchups), for sure.”

Displaying his finishing poise in his second Octagon outing against the above mentioned, Lungiambula, Brundage, who boasts a 7-2 record – has been forced the distance just once from those seven victories, defeating three opponents with strikes, and a further three with varying submission successes.

UFC veteran Sam Alvey will have at least one more chance to snap his current losing skid later this year in a fight against Michal Oleksiejczuk.

MMA journalist Artur Mazur was the first to report the news of the planned Alvey vs. Oleksiejczuk matchup set for an Aug. 6 Fight Night.

Alvey is desperately looking to get back in the win column following seven straight losses. His last win came in a split decision against Gian Villante in June 2018.

After having two different opponents pull out of his last fight, Alvey ended up facing Brendan Allen in a light heavyweight matchup in February. He would lose to the short-notice replacement Allen via second-round submission.

Alvey has been in the UFC for years, making his Octagon debut back in Aug. 2014 following a run on The Ultimate Fighter: Season 16. He has picked up wins over the likes of Kevin Casey, Rashad Evans, and Nate Marquardt over his UFC career.

Alvey will face a tough challenge in the form of Oleksiejczuk, who has won two of his last three fights. His last fight ended in a unanimous decision defeat to Dustin Jacoby at UFC 272.

Alvey and Oleksiejczuk add to a stacked card for the Aug. 6 UFC Fight Night event. The card features a light heavyweight headliner between Thiago Santos and Jamahal Hill, preceded by a welterweight matchup between Vicente Luque and Geoff Neal.

Will Sam Alvey end his recent struggles in the Octagon?

Sam Alvey will be getting at least one more farewell fight in the UFC.

Sam Alvey has been on a bad losing streak of late. He has lost seven of his last eight fights, with one draw thrown in. For some time now, many people believed that he would be cut from the UFC; however, he has continued showing up and fighting in the organization. Now, it seems he will be getting one more shot despite rumors that he had been removed from the roster.

Following his last loss, reports that Alvey had been cut from the UFC were circulating. Now, Alvey has posted a video on his YouTube channel saying that he was not cut after all and he explain what went down in that conversation with the UFC over the phone.

“The UFC called and said ‘Sam, how’s it going, where are you living now? You’re not in California, you are in Tennesee right?’ Then there was kinda this deep breath on their end. ‘Your last couple of fights have been great but we have not won,” Alvey explains what the UFC said on the phone. “I said ‘Yeah, I realized.’ They said, ‘That being said, you won a few of those fights that the judges got wrong. And the fights you lost, they were entertaining fights.”

He went on to describe how the UFC was grateful for his long career with the company and they appreciated everything he had done and how he was a pleasure to work with. Alvey admitted that he was waiting to hear the bad news, but the conversation took a different turn.

“You say yes to every fight, you go out and fight your heart out,” Alvey explained the conversation. “You have taken some fights on short notice that you probably shouldn’t have, but you are always game, you have never said no. We have decided that we will let you fight out your contract.’ I’m not cut! I get at least one more fight with the UFC. On my contract there is one more fight, I’m not cut.”

Alvey has not given any details on when he will be getting back in the Octagon, just that he will continue to keep fighting whether it is with the UFC or elsewhere when his contract is up.

Do you believe Sam Alvey should still be on the UFC roster?

UFC veteran Sam Alvey isn’t buying what Jake Paul is selling when it comes to the controversial issue of fighter pay.

Paul has been a vocal critic of UFC President Dana White regarding how fighters on the roster are treated. He has also offered to sign a one-fight deal to fight in the UFC if certain demands are met by White and the promotion, which includes providing health insurance for athletes.

Paul is coming off an eventful 2021 in which he continued his undefeated streak in boxing. He earned back-to-back wins over former UFC champion Tyron Woodley and also knocked out former Bellator champion Ben Askren.

In addition to his actions inside the ring, Paul has taken it to the UFC outside of it. He has also accused White of using cocaine with the two sides claiming that the other has dodged challenges.

During a recent interview with Full Mount MMA, Alvey explained why he thinks Paul’s promotion of better fighter pay isn’t legitimate.

“Jake Paul is a clown and he is not trying to help fighter pay, he is trying to help himself,” Alvey said. “Every fight sells when you either want to see somebody win or see somebody get knocked out. Jake Paul has figured out that everyone wants to see him get knocked out so he wants to try and switch that narrative… and so he goes after the low-hanging fruit that sounds great to everyone, ‘pay fighters more’… If UFC, Dana White, any of those guys were to do what Jake Paul is asking, he wouldn’t get us paid more, he would eliminate the roster of the UFC. We would go from a roster of what 800 to down to 75.” (h/t SportsKeeda)

Paul has called out UFC fighters Nate Diaz, Conor McGregor, and Jorge Masvidal for fights in the ring. However, all three are still under contract with the UFC and will likely not be allowed to fight Paul anytime soon.

Paul continues to put the heat on White and the UFC brass to enact change in how fighters are compensated. But some fighters such as Alvey don’t believe Paul is someone to be taken seriously.

Do you agree with Sam Alvey?
