Rising star Sean O’Malley has revealed he will be fighting at UFC 250 on June 6. Speaking on social media O’Malley confirmed his eagerly anticipated return to the octagon in one simple tweet, it read. “Daddy returns June 6th, you are welcome.”

The charismatic 25-year-old has since announced on his Twitch channel he expects to face Eddie Wineland next month, although the fight is not yet official it has been verbally agreed and contracts are due to be signed soon.

O’Malley last fought in March at UFC 248 and picked up an impressive TKO win inside two minutes against Jose Quiñones. This was the first ‘Suga Show’ in over two years after he became embroiled in a complex case with the United States Anti-Doping Agency. O’Malley was found to have ostarine in his system in the build-up to a scheduled fight at UFC 229. He was banned for six months for this violation. After serving his ban O’Malley was due to face Marlon Vera but was again pulled from the fight for a second violation, testing positive for ostarine for the second time. Although it seems likely the test result was a case of residual effects O’Malley was forced to serve another six-month ban form the sport.

Former UFC title challenger Wineland is the man tasked with upsetting the unbeaten young star. The 35-year-old bounced back from consecutive defeats against John Dodson and Aljeandro Perez last time out to beat Grigory Popov via TKO at UFC 238 almost a year ago.

O'Malley Cejudo

Sean O’Malley is not a fan of UFC bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo’s gimmick.

Ever since becoming a champion in the UFC, Cejudo has embraced himself as the “King of Cringe” with a more outgoing and outspoken comedic personality. It has rubbed many people the wrong way in the process.

But what can’t be denied is Cejudo’s fighting ability as he has beaten the likes of Demetrious Johnson, TJ Dillashaw and Marlon Moraes in his last three outings. O’Malley acknowledged this but isn’t sure the cringe gimmick is really working out for the Olympian.

“I wouldn’t consider that working for him,” O’Malley told MMA Junkie. “I think he’s definitely trying, but he’s just trying too hard and it’s hard to watch. And I guess that’s the way they’re going for – the cringe – but I think he could have taken that a different route. I don’t know. I think as a champ, he’s beat some really, really good dudes. Yeah, he’s really good – but he’s just a cringey dude.”

Another criticism of Cejudo is that he only seems to be targeting big-name fighters coming off losses. He was initially set to defend his title against Jose Aldo at UFC 250 next month.

The plan now seems to be facing Dominick Cruz on the proposed May 9 card. And O’Malley feels there are more deserving contenders in the division who should be earning the next crack at the title.

“Yeah, it’s super weird,” O’Malley said. “That Jose Aldo fight, I definitely thought he won against Marlon (Moraes). … Dana’s like, ‘No, I thought he won that fight, I’ll give him a title shot.’ So it’s pretty cool Dana has that power and it’s his company, (but) it’s pretty weird coming off a loss.

“I mean, Cruz deserves it in a sense – all the injuries he’s had to deal with and how his career went, so I don’t know. I wouldn’t be upset with him getting it but there’s also guys like (Cory) Sandhagen and (Aljamain Sterling) that probably deserve it more, coming off wins. Yeah, that’s a tough one.”

As for O’Malley, he certainly has time on his side as the unbeaten prospect will no doubt be looking at targeting bantamweight gold in the future.

‘Suga’ Sean O’Malley has revealed he plans to model his UFC rise on Conor McGregor, who he feels got the perfect build-up in the promotion.

The 25-year-old bantamweight is fresh off an impressive first-round TKO win at UFC 248 against Jose Quinonez. It was his first fight since 2018, as his hype-train was derailed by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and Nevada State Athletic Commission with a pair of suspensions that kept him out of fighting until just last month.

Even though he’s coming off a two-year lay off O’Malley is still confident he’s on the right path, and that fight fans are just as interested as they ever were in seeing him compete.

“I don’t think I really lost any hype going into that fight,” O’Malley told MMA Fighting. “It was exciting. I think people feel that certain way when I fight, and I’m excited to get back in there and make them feel that again. It’s powerful.”

“I think the two fights I was supposed to be in brought that hype back a little bit,” O’Malley explained. “Then it got pulled, then it got built up again, then it got pulled. There was a lot of drama behind it all, so it almost made it more exciting for my return, but yeah, it felt like my debut all over again.

Now he’s free to fight again the 11-0 prospect plans to continue building his name, reputation, and record in a way similar to MMA superstar Conor McGregor.

“Conor [McGregor’s] career, they did pretty well with as far as building him up,” O’Malley said. “It’s a business. It’s a career. You can only fight for so long. You’ve got to make as much money as you possibly can. So we’re going to look at it like a business and go from there.”

Could Sean O’Malley follow in Conor McGregor’s footsteps and become the biggest star in MMA?

UFC bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley
enjoyed an emphatic return to the cage last night and the best type of after-party
if he is a man of his word.

Speaking to TMZ Sports ahead of his UFC 248 fight against Jose Quinonez, O’Malley revealed he won’t be having any type of official after-party. However he did let us know about his plan to enjoy the victory by smoking some weed, chilling with friends and eating some pizza, he said.

“I’m
gonna take a rip, I’m gonna hang out with my circle. I don’t have an
after-party planned. I’m just gonna celebrate with some medicine and some good
food and that’s about it. I always crave pizza. I think a lot of fighters do
for whatever reason.”

These type of parties seems to be part of tradition for ‘Sugar’ who after his last fight at UFC 222 sparked up a huge joint and even introduced everyone his own strain of weed.

The 25-year-old has been out of action for two years after becoming embroiled in issues with anti-doping organisation USADA. Despite such a long period of time out, the undefeated star did not feel any pressure coming back and headlining the UFC 248 prelims, he said.

“It just
feels like another fight. 2 years off is not that big of a deal. I don’t think
anything’s really changed. I don’t think much has changed as far as the
attention I’m getting, as far as how excited the fans are.”

The now 11-0 professional fighter fought without a care in the world. He finished the fight inside the first round after landing a sweet head kick, upper cut combination before following up with some ground and pound to get the stoppage.

Post-fight O’Malley
was awarded the performance of the night bonus and $50,000 in extra cash. That will
for sure keep the weed and pizza party going for quite some time!
