Former dual weight UFC champion Henry Cejudo believes rising bantamweight star Sean O’Malley is overrated. ‘Triple C’ also thinks he would hurt O’Malley if they ever fought in the octagon.
O’Malley is currently one of the brightest prospects in MMA and he boasts a perfect 11-0 record. ‘Suga’ climbed into the 135lb rankings last month by scoring a highlight-reel knockout over Eddie Wineland at UFC 250.
Cejudo remains unconvinced by O’Malley calling him overrated, claiming he would hurt ‘Suga if they fought and even suggesting a minor league wrestler would give the 25-year-old problems.
“I think Sean O’Malley is completely overrated,” Cejudo said. “I don’t think he has fought nobody, they haven’t put him against a wrestler. Every time they ask Sean O’Malley who do you want next, [he] says he wants another striker. “[Do] you know what that tells me as a competitor? I’m thinking outside the box, that this dude does not want any smoke up against the cage. This dude has not trained with anyone who can grind him.
“If I were to ever fight him, I would hurt him, I would grind him out. I would keep him for like three to four rounds and hurt him,” he continued. “I’m not going to strike with him because I will give him credit, he does understand distance and is very precise, but that is about it. Put him up against a minor league wrestler, we will see how good he really is.” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)
Cejudo is retired from MMA after choosing to hang them up following his UFC 249 win against bantamweight great Dominick Cruz. ‘Triple C’ has openly admitted a featherweight title shot against Alexander Volkanovski would be enough to convince him to return to fighting. He has also spoken about potentially crossing over into boxing for a fight against Ryan Garcia, although that fight now appears unlikely after the boxing star accepted a fight with British fighter Luke Campbell.

Bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley is set to start selling his own merchandise because he “ain’t getting sh*t” from his current deal with Reebok. ‘O’Malley’ previously revealed the sportswear giant had made more than $1 million from selling items with his name or image on. Despite helping the company earn so much money he earnt just $3000.
Speaking to MMA Fighting ‘Suga’ opened up about his current deal with Reebok and revealed his plan to start his own apparel line in the near future, he said.
“The whole Reebok thing is insane. I think it was back-to-back years that it was over a million dollars [of merchandise sold]. I know one year for sure, I don’t want to say anything that’s not true but I have it in my e-mails, I think it was back-to-back years they did over a million dollars with the shirts and whatever else they sell on Reebok and I got $3,000 and $5,000 I think for those. Absolutely insane.”
“We’re dropping my own merch line soon and I think it’s going to be fun. That’s something I’ve always wanted to do, too, get into the ‘Suga’ brand, the clothing, and I think it’s slowly going to build like any business and be something really cool.”
O’Malley is even planning to launch his own strain of marijuana which he hopes can replicated the success UFC superstar Conor McGregor has enjoyed with his whisky business.
“I’ve done the ‘Suga’ strain before but we just didn’t do it right,” O’Malley explained. “We didn’t have the right people to build that but I think we’re coming out with the ‘Suga’ strain that’s going to be all around the world. That was my issue with the last one. It was only in California. We couldn’t get it out of California so it didn’t do as good. But I think we’re about to get in with a ‘Suga’ strain in the next couple of months, maybe a little bit longer.
“But I think that’s going to be my whiskey business like Conor. I think that’s going to do the best. So we’re getting into all the industries.”

Vera And O’Malley To Finally Throw Down?
Sean O’Malley’s next fight just might be in progress.
On Wednesday, the bantamweight contender suggested Marlon Vera as a potential next opponent for him in a post on Instagram.
“Who wants to see me Knock Out Cheeto?”
Vera responded soon after as he was receptive to the idea and is clearly confident of getting the win over O’Malley.
“I’m gonna murk you Stevia.
“Send me the papers and I promise you I’ make this guy quick and beg me to stop.
“Just by been related to Ben askren you’re already f*ck[ed] son. #deathass”
On Thursday, “Chito” went a step further and revealed the fight was already in the works.
“Stevia69 vs Marlon Chito in the works @ufc”
It should be noted that the pair were originally set to compete in early 2019 until problems with the United States Anti-Doping Agency further delayed O’Malley’s return to the Octagon.
“Sugar” is coming off an impressive first-round knockout win over Eddie Wineland at UFC 250 earlier this month. Vera, meanwhile, is coming off a controversial split decision loss to Song Yadong last month.
Who do you think takes this fight if it’s confirmed?
