Rising UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley picked up a hard-fought win over Andre Soukhamthath on the main card of last weekend’s (Sat., March 3, 2018) UFC 222 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, but it didn’t come without a price.

Dominating Soukhamthath in the stand-up game for the better part of the first two rounds, “Sugar” appeared on his way to finishing the bout with a varied offense of pinpoint strikes.

But in the third round, O’Malley injured his leg throwing a kick and was unable to even stand, a fact that apparently went over Soukhamthath’s head as he inexplicably ground O’Malley and laid on him until the fight ended. Because of the glaring mistake, O’Malley won by unanimous decision and promptly gave a unique post-fight interview to Joe Rogan.

In it, O’Malley said the injury was nothing that a little ‘medicine’ at his after party couldn’t fix, and he may have been referencing the custom strain of marijuana that he discussed in the week leading up to UFC 222. Either way, O’Malley was far from shy about chronicling his own medicating, even with a cast on his leg, at his after party.

He released a video online via Fancy Combat enjoying some sizable marijuana cigarettes, some healthy snacks, and even a golden weed boxing glove not unlike the one once gifted to Nate Diaz.

“The Ultimate Fighter 26” Finale went down tonight (Friday, December 1, 2017) from the Park Theater in Paradise, Nevada. The show was headlined by the inaugural women’s flyweight title fight between finalist Nicco Montano and late replacement fill-in and semifinalist Roxanne Modafferi. Montano took a back-and-forth, gritty battle by unanimous decision on the strength of her superiority in the scrambles to become the new champion. She beat Lauren Murphy, Montana Stewart, Barb Honchak, and Roxanne Modafferi – arguably the best four other women in the bracket – to get it done.

The co-main event saw veteran boxer Terrion Ware welcome “Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series” alum Sean O’Malley to the big show. The pair engaged in an entertaining brawl, but O’Malley’s power, output, and diversity carried him through a tough second round to ean a unanimous nod from the judges.

In the co-main event of The Ultimate Fighter Season 26 Finale (TUF 26 Finale), bantamweights Sean O’Malley and Terrion Ware went head-to-head inside the cage.

O’Malley entered the bout undefeated with a record of 8-0, and was a proven finisher with six knockouts and a submission under his belt. “Sugar” hoped to add yet another finish to his record to start off his UFC career with a bang.

Terrion entered his second fight under the UFC’s banner, after having a four-fight win streak snapped by Cody Stamann this past July. Terrion wanted to get his first win in the UFC to help build some momentum behind his name, and he’d certainly gain some momentum by handing O’Malley the first defeat of his career.

That would not be the case, however, as after three rounds of action the judges decided that O’Malley had decisively won the fight on the scorecards via unanimous decision.
