Askren vs. HornbuckleThe two remaining bouts were announced by World Victory Road for their upcoming Dec. 30th “Sengoku: Soul of Fight” event.

Announced on Monday were the notable additions of welterweights UFC/DREAM fighter Ryo Chonan (18-11) vs. Sengoku/Bellator fighter Dan Hornbuckle (22-3) and female fighters Megumi Fujii (22-1) vs. Emi Fujino (9-4).

Chonan is 3-1 in his last four, earning a win at the Deep 50th Impact event in October. The Japanese fighter was last seen in North America at UFC 97, losing a split decision to TJ Grant. Hornbuckle is 7-1 in his last eight fights, bouncing back after losing to Ben Askren in the season 3 Bellator welterweight tournament. He defeated Brad Blackburn to earn a spot in the Season 4 tournament.

Fujii will fight for the first time since she had her 22 win streak stopped by Zoila Frausto in a controversial split decision at Bellator 34. Fujino’s ended a four fight losing skid with a win in her last fight earning a 24-second submission over Anna Saito at a Valkyrie 8 event in November.

“Soul of Fight” takes place on Dec. 30th at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan. The day long 28 bout martial arts festival features a mix of mma, kickboxing, and grappling matches which see part of the event broadcast in North America on HDNet, likely via tape delay.

And reading the reviews, you were probably disappointed that you got up to watch.

SRC 15 took place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan and aired live on HDNet at 2AM EST in North America.

The main highlight from the entire event was Maximo Blanco’s knockout of Kiuma Kunioku near the end of the first round (check out the KO Gif after the jump). Blanco put Kunioku to the mat and as the Japanese fighter leaped back to his feet, Blanco dropped him with a devastating uppercut.

Another bout of note was the main event matchup between Brit James Zikic and Olympic Judo Silver medalist Hiroshi Izumi. Izumi put in a poor performance, choosing to stand with Zikic throughout the entire fight instead of taking the fight to the mat. Most critics scored the bout as a unanimous decision for Zikic, but the Japanese judges awarded Izumi with a split decision, leaving many shaking their heads.
