A UFC heavyweight clash between the #3 ranked division contender, Sergei Pavlovich, and the #4 rated challenger, Curtis Blaydes, is reportedly slated to take main event honors at a UFC Fight Night event on April 22. At the time of publication, an official billing, location, or venue for the card has yet to be determined by the organization.

In the midst of a five-fight winning run which includes five consecutive knockout victories, former Fight Nights Global heavyweight champion, Pavlovich most recently landed a dominant, 54-second knockout win over Tai Tuivasa at UFC Fight Night Orlando last December. The victory earned Pavlovich a Performance of the Night bonus.

Sergei Pavlovich books his first UFC main event outing

Himself riding an impressive three-fight winning run, Blaydes, the current #4 ranked contender, most recently headlined UFC Fight Night London in July of last year against Tom Aspinall, securing a 15-second TKO win after the latter suffered a knee injury. ESPN MMA reporter, Brett Okamoto confirmed Sergei Pavlovich’s return against Curtis Blaydes.

Main event, April 22. No. 3 ranked Sergei Pavlovich vs. No. 4 ranked Curtis Blaydes. High stakes at heavyweight. Early predictions?”

17-1 as a professional, Rostov Oblast native, Pavlovich’s sole professional loss came in the form of a first round ground strikes TKO defeat to common-opponent, Alistair Overeem at UFC Fight Night Beijing back in November 2016.

5-0 in his five Octagon outings subsequently, Pavlovich rebounded with a knockout win over Marcelo Golm, before then finishing Maurice Greene, Shamil Abdurakhimov, and Derrick Lewis – before his knockout win over Tuivasa back in December earned him a spot in the division’s top-3.

17-3(1) as a professional, prior to his TKO win over Atherton native, Aspinall last summer, Elevation Fight Team staple, Blaydes managed to land consecutive triumphs over both Chris Daukaus, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

Making his debut against former undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou in 2016 akin to Pavlovich, in the time since, Blaydes has dispatched the likes of Mark Hunt, Alexander Volkov, common-foe, Overeem, as well as former undisputed heavyweight champion, Junior dos Santos.

UFC 304 co-headliner Tom Aspinall achieved his title ambitions on mixed martial arts’ biggest stage in emphatic fashion last November.

The interim heavyweight champion will return in the co-main event of this weekend’s pay-per-view card at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester, England, where he’s tasked with defending his belt in a rematch against Curtis Blaydes.

The pair first collided at a London-held UFC Fight Night back in the summer of 2021. The bout lasted just 15 seconds, with a devastating knee injury suffered by Aspinall bringing it to a premature end and handing the Brit his first Octagon setback.

Aspinall has since rebounded in a major way, first by getting the better of Marcin Tybura last July and then by capturing interim UFC gold in a short-notice clash with Sergei Pavlovich four months later.

After an injury to Jon Jones saw his planned heavyweight defense against Stipe Miocic off the UFC 295 card, Aspinall stepped up to meet the original backup fighter at Madison Square Garden.

Despite a lack of preparation and not being at full fitness, the Englishman closed the show in just over a minute, stopping his Russian counterpart by way of knockout to have a UFC title wrapped around his waist.

Ahead of Saturday’s event, the promotion has released the full Aspinall vs. Pavlovich fight from UFC 295 on its official YouTube channel.

Aspinall will hope to repeat that performance at the expense of Blaydes this weekend.

Should he accomplish that feat on home soil, the Mancunian heavyweight will keep ahold of his interim belt and perhaps strengthen calls for Jon Jones to face him in a unification showdown.

UFC heavyweight knockout ace, Tai Tuivasa slipped to his second consecutive loss last night on the main card of UFC Fight Night Orlando in Florida, however, insists he will bounce back from his quickfire stoppage defeat to Russian finisher, Sergei Pavlovich.

Tuivasa, a fan-favorite knockout artist, featured on the main card of the promotion’s first outing in Orlando in seven years against the streaking former M-1 Global heavyweight champion, Pavlovich.

Looking to return to the winner’s enclosure, Tuivasa dropped a quickfire first round knockout loss to Pavlovich – who found home often and early to score a 45-second knockout win, stopping the Australian with a slew of strikes at the fence.

Tuivasa had earlier headlined UFC Paris this summer against former interim titleholder, Ciryl Gane – seeing his impressive streak of five straight victories – which includes knockouts of Derrick Lewis, Augusto Sakai, and Greg Hardy, snapped by the Frenchman.

Count it five consecutive victories for emerging heavyweight contender, Sergei Pavlovich, who throws caution to the wind and lands a dominant, first round knockout win over Australian heavy hitter, Tai Tuivasa on the main card of UFC Orlando — landing a first round knockout victory.

Pavlovich, a former M-1 Global heavyweight champion, whose sole UFC loss came in the form of a debut defeat to Alistair Overeem, entered tonight’s fight with the fan-favorite, Tuivasa off the back of a contentious first round knockout win over Derrick Lewis at UFC 277 back in July.

Trading blow-for-blow with prolific knockout artist, Tuivasa in the opening minute of their UFC Orlando main card bout, the quicker and more accurate, Pavlovich found his mark more often than not against the Aussie, felling him multiple occasions before eventually landing a first round knockout win inside just 54 seconds.
