The UFC didn’t go crazy with handing out bonuses for UFC Vegas 57 like they did at UFC 275 and UFC Austin, but 3 different fighters earned Performance of the Night bonuses to go along with Fight of the Night.

The final 4 bouts of the night ended up accounting for the extra money, starting with Thiago Moisés’ submission victory over Christos Giagos.

Moisés entered the night on a two-fight losing streak but put on a convincing performance when he took Giagos’s back and forced a tap just over 3 minutes into the fight.

A heavyweight bout followed Moisés’s victory, with American Josh Parisian taking on Frenchman Alan Baudot. While it wasn’t the most technical fight, Parisian was able to weather an early storm in order get a second-round TKO and also snag a Performance of the Night bonus.

The night’s final Performance of the Night was awarded to Shavkat Rakhmonov for his submission win against veteran Neil Magny. One of the UFC’s hottest prospects, Rakhmonov was largely able to handle Magny the same way he had his previous 3 UFC opponents.

Magny survived a few difficult positions but “Nomad” eventually proved to be too much and secured a guillotine choke that the veteran tapped to just before the end of the second round. Rakhmonov maintains not only his undefeated record but also his streak of never having gone the distance as a pro.

The main event was likely the most anticipated fight on the card, and it delivered with a clear Fight of the Night performance. Arman Tsarukyan looked strong through the first two rounds before Mateusz Gamrot gained momentum as the fight went on.

The former KSW champion ultimately walked away with a unanimous decision win, though many felt that Tsarukyan was deserving of the victory. Scorecards aside, both lightweights put on a tremendous show, and each earned an extra $50K for their efforts.

UFC welterweight Shavkat Rakhmonov wants to feel the same level of love from the fans as Khamzat Chimaev and other up-and-coming stars.

The undefeated Rakhmonov is slated to face UFC veteran Neil Magny tonight on the UFC Vegas 57 main card. He’s earned recent wins over the likes of Michel Prazeres and Carlston Harris.

While Rakhmonov is a potential dark horse in the UFC’s welterweight division, his name has fallen under the radar of some casual MMA fans. Fighters like Chimaev and other fast-rising stars have garnered the level of attention that matches their Octagon résumés.

During his UFC Vegas 57 pre-fight press conference, Rakhmonov was asked whether or not he feels he’s getting the respect he deserves for his recent success.

“Yeah, I believe I deserve more attention,” Rakhmonov said. “God’s willing, I’m the future UFC champion. Time will show it.”

Chimaev rose to prominence in 2020, earning three wins over Gerald Meerschaert, Rhys McKee, and John Phillips. Chimaev and Rakhmonov are comparable in their fast rises, but Rakhmonov isn’t a fan of being in the same conversation as Chimaev.

Rakhmonov went on to predict when he’ll emerge as the UFC’s 170lb king.

“I prefer to take it step by step. I don’t like to rush it. I believe in a year and a half or two years, I’m gonna be UFC champion.”

Rakhmonov, a former M-1 Global champion, made his UFC debut at UFC 254 in a first-round submission win over Alex Oliveira.

A win over Magny this weekend would not only propel Rakhmonov into the welterweight title picture but also boost his star power. It may not be long until Rakhmonov rivals the popularity of Chimaev and other impressive prospects.

Shavkat Rakhmonov claims Neil Magny had no choice but to accept a fight with him.

Rakhmonov spoke at a media day ahead of his co-main event meeting with Magny at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas this weekend. During the presser, Rakhmonov suggested that Magny kind of put himself into a corner accepting a fight with him.

Magny said he was ready to face anyone, but once a fight with Rakhmonov was offered, Rakhmonov said Magny took some time to accept it. Granted, he did ultimately accept it.

“He had to accept the fight because he was the one who said he was ready to fight anyone. And it took some time for him to accept it, but he did.”

Rakhmonov is one of the top prospects at welterweight at the moment. The 27-year-old is undefeated in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career with an unblemished record of 15-0. Since making his debut in the UFC in 2020, Rakhmonov has finished all of his opponents.

If he’s able to do the same against a veteran in Magny, it would certainly do wonders for his career. Magny, however, is currently the No. 10-ranked welterweight in the world, riding a two-fight win streak.

Magny has been competing in the UFC since 2013, sharing the Octagon with the best the division has had to offer over the years. This certainly wouldn’t be the first time he’s faced a young rising star.

And as for Rakhmonov, with a potential win against Magny, it will show he’s ready to take on the best the division has to offer.

What do you make of Shavkat Rakhmonov suggesting Magny had no choice but to accept their fight? Sound off in the comments below!

UFC welterweight, Neil Magny says he will show his upcoming opponent, Shavkat Rakhmanov ‘levels to this game’ in their co-main event fight this weekend.

Neil Magny is one of the UFC’s most consistent welterweights and has continued to fend off his spot in the UFC’s top 15 since the mid-2010s. Now though, ‘The Haitian Sensation’ will face a fighter unproven in the UFC in Shavkat Rakhmonov, but the Kazakh has been a highly touted prospect since entering the promotion.

Rakhmonov caught the eyes of many with his pinpoint, at times flashy striking, and has a great ground game to back it up, but Magny, a nine-year UFC vet, isn’t fazed and sees only victory for himself.

“Literally every last one of us in the UFC was undefeated at one point or another, then you went out there and faced an absolute beast and was like, ‘Oh damn, there’s different levels to this,’” Magny said. “I look at Shavkat and I think the exact same thing. The guy is talented. He is 15-0. … But at the same time, he hasn’t fought a seasoned vet like me yet. He hasn’t fought the guys that I’ve fought yet. So I’m going to go out there and show him that there’s some levels to this game. That’s my goal. (H/T MMA Junkie)

“It’s going to be a very dominant fight. It just won’t be him dominating. I plan to go out there and dominating this fight from beginning to end.”

Magny, who is ranked number 10 has made a career of fighting the toughest name out there and has never shied away from the newest contender. Now though, if victory comes his way on Saturday night, he feels he deserves a fighter higher up the rankings.

“Ideally, I would love to have a top-five opponent after this fight,” Magny said. “That’s the way it should go. You go out there and have a great performance and you get a high-ranked opponent. That’s how it should go, but the reality of it is, things don’t always go as they should.”

“If I get stuck fighting No. 6 or No. 7 guy, whoever they may be, I’m going to go out there and keep working toward my goal. I’m going to do whatever it takes to become champion.”

Who have you got in this one? Neil Magny or Shavkat Rakhmanov?
