Francis Ngannou picks Stipe Miocic to beat Jon Jones at UFC 295 he doesn't get the credit he deserves

Ahead of his professional boxing debut this weekend in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, former undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou has picked fellow ex-champion, Stipe Miocic to return and win gold against the incumbent, Jon Jones next month in the main event of UFC 295 – claiming the Ohio native never receives the credit he should.

Ngannou, a former undisputed heavyweight champion under the banner of the UFC, departed the Octagon back in January of this year following the completion of his contractual obligations with the promotion, before penning a multi-fight deal with the PFL.

And set to make his organizational bow in the opening quarter of next year, Ngannou is first set to enter the squared circle for the first time in his combat sports career, taking on WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury in a professional boxing match this weekend in the Middle East.

And sharing his thoughts on Miocic’s championship fight return against arch-rival, Jones next month at UFC 295 in Madison Square Garden, Ngannou picked the veteran former champion to spring an upset and land a victory over the defending gold holder.

“It would have to be Stipe (Miocic), stylistically,” Francis Ngannou told CBS Sports reporter, Shakiel Majhouri. “I fought Stipe twice and I think Stipe doesn’t have the credit he deserves. Obviously, I won the second time, still I know that I could have lost that time. He fought ‘DC’ (Daniel Cormier) three times and ou can see how he fought.”

“And also, this is a different weight class for Jon Jones,” Francis Ngannou explained. “This is heavyweight and I think it’s slightly different than light heavyweight. I agree that Jon Jones is the best in the light heavyweight but I think in the heavyweight, he will definitely get some challenge.”

Heavyweight Champ Jon Jones is Looking jacked ahead of his UFC 295 Title Tilt with Stipe Miocic

Jon Jones

Reigning UFC heavyweight world champion Jon Jones looks to be in impeccable shape as his showdown with the division’s general consensus GOAT Stipe Miocic quickly approaches.

On November 11, ‘Bones’ will return to the Octagon eight months removed from his impressive first-round submission victory over Ciryl Gane to claim the vacant heavyweight crown. This time, Jon Jones will be matched up with the man that many believe is the greatest fighter the weight class has ever seen in two-time titleholder Stipe Miocic.

With UFC gold and legacies on the line, Jon Jones is putting everything he has into his training camp and, as a result, is looking absolutely jacked less than three weeks before his UFC 295 headliner in Madison Square Garden.

Making his return to the Octagon after nearly four years on the shelf, ‘Bones’ was as dominant as ever, but many fight fans were critical of Jon Jones’ physique, suggesting that he had packed on weight, but not much muscle. That no longer appears to be the case as the former light heavyweight king is looking to be in the best shape of his life. Now, the only question that remains is, will the added weight and muscle have a serious effect on his signature speed and mobility?

Jon Jones Suggests Stipe Miocic Take Some Time Off From Fighting Fires

When Stipe Miocic makes his own return to the cage next month, it will be his first fight in more than two and a half years. During his time away, Miocic has lived a relatively normal life, working as a firefighter in his native Cleveland and largely putting his career as a professional athlete behind him.

Signing on the dotted line for a comeback at UFC 295, Miocic will step back into the Octagon for presumably one final big-money bout that could solidify his status as the greatest heavyweight of all time. But to do that, Jon Jones suggests that the ‘Croatian Sensation’ take some time away from his day job and put everything he’s got into preparing for what could be the toughest fight of his life.

“I say this respectfully to Stipe, I would take time off from being a firefighter right now,” Jones said following his UFC 285 return in March. “And I mean that with all due respect. My whole world is going to be focused on him. This is the biggest opportunity in my life to beat the heavyweight GOAT and I’m going give it everything I’ve got, absolutely everything I’ve got”

UFC 295 goes down on November 11, live from the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Fans will also be treated to a light heavyweight title tilt as former champion Jiri Prochazka looks to reclaim the 205-pound crown after being forced to vacate the title due to a shoulder injury last year. Standing in his way will be ex-middleweight titleholder Alex Pereira who is fresh off a win over division staple Jan Blachowicz in July.

BJJ icon Gordon Ryan compares Jon Jones to UFC legend Georges St-Pierre: ‘He’s better than anybody’

Jon Jones is calling in the big BJJ guns ahead of his first defense of the UFC heavyweight world championship.

On November 11, ‘Bones’ will return to the Octagon eight months removed from his shocking two-minute submission victory over Ciryl Gane to claim the vacant heavyweight title. This time, Jones will defend the crown against the man many consider to be the division’s greatest competitor, two-time titleholder Stipe Miocic.

To prepare himself for the danger that Miocic presents, Jon Jones has been putting in some work with perhaps the best Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner in the world today, ‘King’ Gordon Ryan.

During an appearance on Morning Kombat, Ryan revealed that Jon Jones had reached out to him on Instagram for some insight as ‘Bones’ marches toward one of the biggest fights in UFC heavyweight history.

“Stipe, there’s nothing really special that he does as an MMA grappler,” Ryan said of Jones’ next opponent, “He’s not bad but it’s not like he has an amazing ability to hip heist up or an amazing triangle or armbar or gets mounted on you, you’re never gonna get up. He’s kind of like a good, generic, all-around guy. So, I think that — obviously, Jon studies a lot of tape on him as well — at this point, Jon is just interested in doing things that he wants to improve upon as an athlete himself.

“If there was one thing I saw that Stipe did that was dangerous to Jon, or that I think could give Jon problems, then I would force Jon to be in those positions. But Stipe’s not known as a super dangerous grappler so I think it’s just overall Jon is just trying to improve as an athlete” (h/t MMA Fighting).

Gordon Ryan Likens Jon Jones to an MMA Great

As for his thoughts on Jon Jones specifically, Ryan believes ‘Bones’ is in many ways like former UFC welterweight and middleweight champ, Georges St-Pierre.

“Jon is a lot like ‘GSP,’” Ryan said. “He’s not the best wrestler in the world, he’s not the best striker in the world, he’s not the best at jiu-jitsu in the world but when it’s time to put things all together — just like Georges — he does it better than anybody else in the world. So, if you get a high-level wrestler, he’s gonna lose a wrestling match [and so on]. But when it’s time to actually fight, he’s better than anybody else in the world.

“The two things that impressed me to a very shocking degree with him was No. 1, his ability to learn moves. Because most guys at his level who are successful, and most guys who are in their mid-30s and they already have an established game over two decades, they have their game then once you teach them something they don’t really retain.

“It’s like they have their game and that’s it. With Jon, he’s always looking to integrate new things into his game and if he has five different topics he asks me about and I teach him five things, he might disregard three of them but if he likes two of them, he will immediately be like, ‘Okay. That’s a part of my game now.’”

Ahead of his undisputed heavyweight championship title fight with Stipe Miocic later this year, incumbent divisional best, Jon Jones has claimed he will have a “hard time sleeping” ahead of the bout, having been “humbled” by decorated grappler, Gordon Ryan during their recent grappling practice ahead of UFC 295.

Jones, a former two-time undisputed light heavyweight titleholder under the banner of the promotion, returned to the Octagon triumphantly following a three-year-plus lay-off back in March, submitting Ciryl Gane to clinch the vacant heavyweight crown with a stunning opening round guillotine choke submission win.

And slated to return to the Octagon next month in the main event of UFC 295 in November at Madison Square Garden, Jones takes on the returning former two-time champion, Miocic, in a highly-anticipated championship battle.

Jon Jones details training camp with Gordon Ryan ahead of UFC 295

Releasing footage of himself training alongside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace, Ryan for his potential final ever mixed martial arts camp ahead of a potential and rumored retirement from combat sports, UFC star, Jones admits the New Jersey grappling ace most definitely gave him sleepless nights.

“My boy, Gordon Ryan served me up a large hot piece of humble pie tonight,” Jon Jones posted on his official X account. “It was exactly what I was looking for, at the same time my emotions are all messed up. Going to have a hard time sleeping tonight, expect singing videos at 2 am.”

Sidelined since 2021, Ohio veteran, Miocic has yet to return to the Octagon since he suffered a thunderous second round KO loss to former promotional champion, Francis Ngannou in the main event of UFC 260 in the pair’s championship rematch clash.

Miocic has also vowed to show Jones what real power at the heavyweight limit feels like, after former interim titleholder, Gane failed to mount any real offense against the Endicott native.

Can Jon Jones continue his dominant streak against Stipe Miocic next month?

Cain Velasquez breaks down Jon Jones’ title fight with Stipe Miocic in November

Sharing his thoughts on next month’s monstrous heavyweight title fight between the incumbent Jones, and former champion, Miocic, American Kickboxing Academy staple, Velasquez claimed that while Jones is the consensus greatest fighter of all time, Miocic can spring a certain upset at Madison Square Garden.

“I mean, Jon Jones is the greatest ever, the greatest ever that you’re ever gonna see,” Cain Velasquez told The Schmo during a recent interview. “Obviously, a complete fighter, mentally the stronger. The strongest competitor that you’re gonna face out there. But there is always that puncher’s chance. There’s always that maybe chance. That’s what continues to bring interest in the fights.”

“Stipe (Miocic), the greatest heavyweight as well out there, arguably,” Cain Velasquez explained. “He brings so many threats to Jon Jones as well. Obviously, your gut will tell you that Jon Jones may come out of this on top. But there’s always that maybe, and Stipe’s one of those guys that can bring out that big maybe in this fight as well.” (Transcribed by MMA News)

Jon Jones heralded as greatest of all time Darren Till nobody will surpass him UFC

Although the topic of the MMA GOAT conversation is always hotly contested, former UFC superstar Darren Till has revealed who he believes to be the greatest UFC fighter of all time.

At one time one of the most hyped prospects in the UFC, Till reached the upper echelon of both the welterweight and middleweight divisions only to fall short in the fights that mattered most. Despite those shortcomings, ‘The Gorilla’ remains one of MMA’s most beloved personalities for his hilarious antics and memorable wars in the octagon.

Now released from the UFC and claiming to just be taking a break from the sport, the future of Darren Till is looking questionable. With no indication of when and if he will return, fans can only hope that we haven’t seen the last of ‘The Gorilla’ inside of the UFC.

Recently taking to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter: Darren Till shared his thoughts on who he believes to be the greatest fighter of all time in UFC history. As well as giving a prediction for that fighter’s next fight.

Darren Till labels Jon Jones as definitive MMA GOAT

Jon Jones is the greatest mma fighter of all time,” Darren Till posted. “Not athlete. Fighter. Dont think anyone will surpass him in my opinion…”

“Just to add as well,” Till continued. “I think he runs over Stipe who btw I am a big fan of also and think is the HW goat. Anyone wants a bet with me I’ll be taking big bets on this one.”

At 27-1-1NC, Jon Jones is a lot of people’s sure bet for an MMA GOAT. Like him or not, the man has accomplished things in the sport that nobody else really has. 15 title fight victories and a champion of multiple divisions only add to the list of unreal accomplishments that Jones has obtained over a controversial career.

Is Jon Jones also at the top of your list of the greatest MMA fighters of all time?
