Kevin Lee found himself sliding down a slippery slope, even before he was hit with a USADA suspension.

Lee revealed that he was being sanctioned by USADA, earning a 6-month suspension for his prescribed Adderall, used to his ADHD. He said that the main reason for this suspension was due to his failure to secure a therapeutic use exemption, despite doctor’s orders.

After news broke of his suspension, Lee was seen flushing the remainder of his pills, saying that he was quitting cold turkey, as well as giving up alcohol. Speaking on The MMA Hour, the Motown Phenom explained that this was something he was planning on quitting before he got the USADA suspension, saying that he could feel himself becoming addicted.

“Yeah, there was a part of that (feeling like they I was getting addicted). I’ve got an addictive personality anyway, so when I realized like ‘Oh, this shit actually works,’ that can get dangerous.”

As far as the suspension itself goes, Kevin Lee says that he understands that he messed up, but that Adderall was not a performance enhancing drug, at least not to him. He denied the idea that he was taking this as a way to focus on his fights.

“It definitely helps you in life but I don’t necessarily know if it ever helped me get bigger, faster, stronger, or even focus more during the fight. I think that’s one of the things you can even see during this fight (with Daniel Rodriguez). I kind of lost focus in the second round, and I wish I could’ve been on (Adderall), you know. I probably should’ve just smoked weed or something, then it probably would’ve been a whole lot better,” Lee said.

While this was obviously a less than ideal situation to be in, the good news is that the six month suspension that Kevin Lee is facing is retroactive to his fight with Daniel Rodriguez, meaning he will be able to return in March. He says that he plans to use that time to bulk up for his run at welterweight, so it will be exciting to see how he looks in his return.

Dana White Responds To Reports Of Jon Jones’ UFC 230 Return

Not so fast. Will Jon Jones be in the main event of UFC 230?

The post Dana White Responds To Reports Of Jon Jones’ UFC 230 Return appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Now that Jon Jones is free to return to action in October, Dana White speculates on whether or not Jones will be in the main event of UFC 230.

The former two-time light heavyweight champion caught yet another break earlier this evening (Sept. 19, 2018) when an arbitrator ruled Jones would have to serve a 15-month suspension that was handed out by the United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA).

Rumors started to circulate earlier this week regarding Jones possibly being eligible to compete at UFC 230 in Madison Square Garden. Not so fast, says the boss.

White told ESPN Wednesday night that Jones is not targeted to compete on November’s pay-per-view card. UFC 230 is main eventless as of this writing.

Here’s ESPN’s Brett Okamoto confirming what White told him and Dana’s response:

“The arbitrator found that Jones never intentionally or knowingly took ******** and the result of the positive test was the result of a contaminated substance,” White wrote. “The science completely supports that finding. The science doesn’t lie so I look forward to getting him back early next year.”

Ariel Helwani also confirmed the news:

Best-Case Scenario

The news of Jones receiving a 15-month suspension is just about the best-case scenario for Jones, White, and the UFC.

Considering “Bones” was looking at a potential maximum suspension of four years, its safe to say he got off easy this time. Let’s hope this is the last time Jones finds himself caught in this self-destructive cycle.

Jones would love nothing more than to make his return to the octagon in front of his home state, something that previously thought impossible.

UFC 230 takes place Nov. 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. We’ll see if Jones is on it. After all, some things White has said, the opposite did end up being true.

Jessica Penne won’t be fighting anytime soon after failing a drug test back in March 2017. Penne received an 18-month suspension from USADA due to the failed test, officials with the anti-doping said on Friday.

USADA claims Penne tested positive for anabolic steroids during a test conducted on March 20, 2017. Fighters who test positive for steroids typically face a two-year suspension, however, Penne was able to prove she was taking a medication under the guidance of her physician that contained the banned steroid.

While her March test initially turned up negative, further review of Penne’s Athlete Biological Passport by USADA officials was “flagged for additional analysis due to an increased degree of variability in urinary biomarkers measured in the sample.”

Further testing on the sample Penne provided USADA showed synthetic steroids were indeed in her system.

Penne was denied a retroactive therapeutic use exemption for the steroid, despite the fact that it was recommended to her by a doctor, according to Penne.

She was able to compete in April while the matter was being adjudicated, losing to Danielle Taylor at UFC Nashville in April. Penne’s suspension was given out a day later, meaning she will be out of action until at least October 22, 2018.

The 34-year-old UFC strawweight holds a 12-5 record and is currently on a three-fight losing streak. She was previously the atomweight champion in Invicta and fell to former UFC strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk in 2015.

NSAC Settles With Nick Diaz, Reduces Suspension to 18 Months, Fine to 100K

Today, Potato Nation, vindication is spelled S-T-O-C-K-T-O-N M-O-T-H-A-F-U-C-K-A-S.

Well, if not “vindication,” than at least something close to it. That’s because earlier today, Nick Diaz and the Nevada State Athletic Commission were able to reach a settlement regarding the absolutely bogus suspension he received after testing positive for marijuana metabolites back at UFC 183.

Details after the jump.

You see, the NSAC, for the bumbling, stubling, incompetente arsholes they are, found themselves in even more hot water than usual after slamming Diaz with an unprecedented five year ban in September, by which I mean that they received a string of alleged death threats ordering them to reduce Diaz’s suspension. There was also an online, less violent White House petition, but wgaf about that.

So with this unforeseen motivation to reconsider suddenly knocking at their doors, the NSAC responded by holding a quick and painless hearing this afternoon to renegotiate the terms of Diaz’s case. The result: Diaz’s suspension was reduced from five years to 18 months (retroactive to UFC 183) and his fine from $165,000 to $100,000.

While the settlement itself was not released to the public, we managed to get ourselves a copy of it thanks to Jeremy Botter.

Diaz’s new deal does not come without a couple stipulations, mind you. Mainly, that Diaz will have to provide 3 urine samples in the month leading to his next fight in Nevada. Why the UFC would be stupid enough to book Diaz another fight in Las Vegas is beyond me, but there you go.

While this settlement is undoubtedly the silver lining in the gray cloud that was Diaz’s fighting future, it bears mentioning that it’s still kind of insane. Rousimar Palhares, for instance, received just a two year suspension and a $40,000 fine for nearly ripping Jake Shields‘ arm off at WSOF 22, and Anderson Silva received just a year suspension after testing positive for a cocktail of steroids in the same fight.

So yeah, it’s not quite justice, but in any case, the reduced suspension now means that Diaz will be eligible to compete on August 1st. Following the suspension he will inevitably receive following *that* fight, look forward to seeing Diaz return to action sometime in 2020.
