Ricci, who most recently at UFC 285 last weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada – turned in her most high-profile victory to date – defeating former Invicta FC atomweight champion and one-time UFC strawweight title challenger, Jessica Penne with a second round armbar win.

The victory came as Brazilian contender, Tabatha Ricci’s third consecutively, following a prior pair of wins over Maria Oliveira, and compatriot, Polyana Viana. In her Octagon debut, the current #15 ranked strawweight contender suffered a TKO loss to the surging, Manon Fiorot in her flyweight division debut on ‘Fight Island’ in 2021.

Tabatha Ricci and Angela Hill delivered an intense and high-action co-main event at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night.

Ricci looked to bring the pressure to Hill right away in the first, as the two traded throughout the course of the opening round. That led to plenty of trading over the course of the fight’s 15 minutes.

The high pace saw “Baby Shark” control the action in the first frame, but the second presented a much closer story. Ricci again looked to take charge and bring pressure in the pocket. Her American counterpart, however, looked to answer her attacks with counters and seemed to land the cleaner shots. The Brazilian did manage to score a takedown during the stanza.

Hill managed to put up a strong third round to try to solidify things in her favor. However, all three judges ultimately gave the nod to Ricci with scores of 29-28.

A matchup between UFC strawweight rising star Cheyanne Vlismas and Tabatha Ricci is reportedly booked for October 1st.

AG Fight was among the first to report the news.

Vlismas, a former standout on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2020, rebounded from a UFC debut loss to Montserrat Ruiz in March 2021 with back-to-back wins. She most recently defeated Mallory Martin via a unanimous decision last December.

Before earning a shot in the UFC, Vlismas enjoyed brief stints in LFA and BTC. Her win over Martin also earned her a ‘Fight of the Night’ $50k performance bonus.

Vlismas will face a tough challenge in the form of the fellow prospect Ricci, who is coming off of two-straight wins over Polyana Viana and Maria Oliveira. Like Vlismas, she earned a shot in the UFC following success in LFA.

Ricci’s lone defeat in her MMA career came against Manon Fiorot last June.

Vlismas/Ricci will be a part of an October 1st Fight Night event with a to-be-determined location and venue. The card also features a lightweight matchup between UFC veteran Vinc Pichel against Jesse Ronson, along with a bantamweight battle between Leah Letson and Chelsea Chandler.

The card’s main event is expected to be announced in the coming months.

What are your thoughts on the Cheyanne Vlismas vs. Tabatha Ricci matchup?

French uber-prospect, Manon ‘The Beast’ Fiorot improves to 7-1 professionally, and nabs her second Octagon victory via a brutal second round bluegeoning of Tabatha Ricci on the preliminary portion of UFC Vegas 28 this afternoon.

Making her second Octagon walk, the flyweight upstart entered the fray off the back of an eye-catching high kick and strikes stoppage victory over Victoria Leonardo at UFC Fight Island 7 in January of this year — in her promotional bow.

Utilsiing her expert striking from the onset and throughout, the 31-year-old Nice native eventually dropped Ricci midway through the second frame, before swarming at the Octagon fence with strikes. Forcing referee, Herb Dean to step in and separate the two, Fiorot began teeing off with heavy winging hooks and straights, connecting heavily on a defence-less, Ricci.

Below, catch the highlights from Fiorot’s impressive second UFC victory.
