As we mentioned in last week’s Most Bizarre Submissions list, the prison-MMA flick Locked Down was just released on DVD and Blu-Ray, and we’d like to give away some copies. (Full disclosure: I haven’t seen the movie yet, but there’s already Oscar buzz around Rashad Evans’s performance. Plus, Kimbo Slice threatens to smush somebody’s shit in at one point.)

Speaking of "locked down," Takeya Mizugaki got LOCKED, THE EFF, DOWN last night at WEC 52 when Urijah Faber caught him in a rear-naked choke, putting him to sleep for an uncomfortably long period of time. A killer photo from the stoppage is after the jump, courtesy of AllElbows/Versus. Come up with a clever caption to the photo, and post it in the comments section below by Sunday night at midnight ET. We’ll post our four favorites on Monday; the winners will receive a Locked Down DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack. Props to LionsGate for making this possible, and good luck to all of you…

The biggest star in the history of World Extreme Cagefighting fought for the promotion for the final time at WEC 52, and it went just as planned, as Urijah Faber choked out Takeya Mizugaki with just seconds remaining in the first round.

“This guy’s known for going to the very end, so I knew I had to do something drastic to put him out,” Faber said afterward. “That’s what I did.”

One last time, Urijah Faber will put on the WEC’s bright blue gloves and close out a show. While it would be a more poetic ending for Faber and the WEC to have him turn the lights out on the promotion at next month’s final event, it’s still fitting to see him get one more turn in the spotlight before the company officially merges with the UFC on Jan. 1.

When Faber steps into the octagon to face Takeya Mizugaki at WEC 52, it will be his 12th time in a WEC cage, and his eighth main event (his other four fights were all co-main events). By and large, he was the main building block for the WEC during its Zuffa era.

His fight against Mizugaki is on paper one he is well equipped to win, and one he is expected to win.

We’re down to two World Extreme Cagefighting events remaining until the promotion is permanently folded into the UFC, and on Thursday night we’ll get our last chance to see the WEC’s biggest star, Urijah Faber, fighting with blue gloves in the blue cage. If he beats Takeya Mizugaki on Thursday night, Faber’s first UFC fight could be the first fight for the UFC bantamweight title, so the stakes are high. We’ve got the full preview and predictions here.

All 22 fighters who will step into the cage at WEC 52 on Thursday night will first step on the scale at the WEC 52 weigh-ins on Wednesday, and we’ll be streaming it live right here at MMAFighting.com.

The weigh-in will be the first chance to get a look at former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber at bantamweight. Faber and his opponent, Takeya Mizugaki, will need to come in at 136 pounds or less. Faber has fought most of his MMA career at 145 pounds, but he wrestled in college at 133 and has said he’ll be comfortable at bantamweight.

The weigh-in starts at 7 PM ET on Wednesday and the video is below.
