After Brittney Griner’s recent plea for help, Tim Kennedy took to social media to point out Griner’s ironic past and “despicable” behavior.

Griner recently penned a letter to US President, Joe Biden, asking for aid. In the letter, Griner stated she was “terrified”, and feels she might be held prisoner “forever.”

This caught the attention of former UFC fighter and army veteran, Tim Kennedy, who had some qualms with Griner and her previous history of protesting the American government.

“Do you remember that time that you were protesting your own government and even requesting that the National Anthem not be played at your games then going back to this same government and pleading that they intervene on your behalf to get you out of a Russian prison after you illegally brought drugs into their country…. Does not get more ironic than this.”

Despite Seeing Griner’s Behaviour As “Despicable”, Tim Kennedy Hopes For Her Release

Tim Kennedy’s issue with Griner goes back to last year’s Black Lives Matter protests where many athletes and individuals showed their displeasure with the current state of America by kneeling during the National Anthem. Kennedy, having served in the US army since 2004, saw this as disrespectful.

Despite this, Kennedy wishes the best for her as she is still an American, at the end of the day.

“Even with her despicable behavior, I do believe that every American is worth fighting for even those that hate their own country.”

Griner was arrested for drug charges in Russia back on Feb 17th of this year. Federal security allegedly found a vaporizer pen containing hash oil, or marijuana, which is considered illegal in Russia. Since then, Griner has been kept in a detention center as her trial is ongoing.

Her situation has an extra layer of complication as Russia continues its war against Ukraine. Many believe that the real reason behind Griner’s arrest is to use her as a political prisoner to exchange for imprisoned Russian figures in America.

Griner plead guilty to the drug charges in the second hearing, and if convicted, she could face up to ten years in a Russian cell.

Tim Kennedy agrees that ‘the Khabib style’ could cause current middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya real problems and could be the key to defeating him

Earlier this week, the infamous MMA manager, Ali Abdelaziz, claimed that his close friend and business associate, Khabib Nurmagomedov, would beat current middleweight champion ‘Stylebender‘.

Abdelaziz regularly causes a stir within the MMA community especially when it comes to some of the fighters that he manages but this may have been some of his best work so far.

“Khabib weighs 200 pounds,” Abdelaziz said. “If Khabib comes tomorrow and cut to 185, he will stop Israel Adesanya in three rounds, this is my opinion. I see it. He beat heavyweights, light heavyweights, welterweights, lightweights. He’s unstoppable. He’s like a tractor trailer.”

Tim Kennedy Agrees

One man who shares the same sentiment is UFC and Strikeforce vet, Tim Kennedy. The former US Special Forces Master Sergeant and BJJ blackbelt knows a thing or two about fighting and when asked what he thought about the new crop of middleweights, he felt he knew the style that could bring down the current 185lb champion.

“I watched him fight and I was like, ‘Oh I could hit him right now’,” Kennedy said on The Food Truck Diaries. “I could get inside, like stylistically it’s a great match-up… He doesn’t like to be in deep water, he likes to set the pace, he likes to control range. He really is good at that.

“Yoel Romero could have been the guy that put the pressure on him, picked some angles, and messed with timing but he didn’t. Instead, Yoel decided to hang back and put on one of the worst championship fights ever.

“But the Khabib style where you don’t know if I’m going to take you down, maybe I’m going to hit you with a big overhand right. As I change levels, maybe I’m going to come in and push up against the cage – nobody has done that to him.

Former UFC fighter and United States Special Forces Sergeant Tim Kennedy has announced on social media that he is boycotting the 2022 Winter Olympics which kick off today in Beijing.

“I’m not watching the #Olympics China is an enemy to the U.S.,” Kennedy wrote on Twitter.

In December 2021, the Biden administration announced a diplomatic boycott of Beijing’s Winter Games to protest China’s alleged human rights abuses, a topic that has been of discussion for years.

The administration also announced in December 2021 that U.S. athletes would be still be allowed to compete in the Beijing Olympics while receiving the “full support” from their country.

It was confirmed that the U.S. would officially “not be contributing to the fanfare of the games” according to U.S. Press Secretary Jen Psaki.

“U.S. diplomatic or official representation would treat these games as business as usual in the face of the PRC’s [People’s Republic of China] egregious human rights abuses and atrocities in Xinjiang, and we simply can’t do that,” Psaki said during a press briefing.

The United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia are also joining the U.S. in the diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Winter Games.

Kennedy, who boasts an 18-6 MMA record since 2001, announced his retirement following a lopsided loss to Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 206. The 42-year-old walked away with several high-profile wins to his name as he beat the likes of Michael Bisping, Jason Miller and Robbie Lawler.

Former UFC middleweight Tim Kennedy has revealed he could often smell weed and alcohol on light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones in training.

The troubled 205lb champion has had a well documented battle with excessive partying which has included drug use and issues with the law which has seriously hampered his career.

In his last two fights Jones has been way under par in terms of his performances levels and he has faced heavy criticism as a result. Former teammate Kennedy believes the criticism the champion is recieivng is justfied.

“I think it’s well deserved.” Kennedy told Submission Radio. “When he was like the hungry young lion and his personal life wasn’t bleeding over into his professional life, you saw a ferocious Mike Tyson-like thing, right? And then success came along and so did money and fame and bad decisions and DUI’s and bribes and coke and strippers, and with that, I’m not saying that correlation is causation, but you have definitely seen a decline in performance, or the really large exclamation mark on how a fight is viewed while those kind of life decisions are happening. So, the technique, the talent, the skill is still in that fighter of Jon Jones, and like, for all contenders, I hope you all pray that his life is still a disaster, because if he get his life in order, like, that dude’s gonna be unstoppable.”

The now retired UFC middleweight told Submission Radio how he could often smell weed and booze on Jones and those were the only days he’d be able to get the better of the all-time great fighter.

“When he’s right, I hated training with him because
he was so dominant. And then when he was off, like, if he had a night when he
went out, you know, I could smell it. You know, you can smell booze, you can
smell the weed. As an athlete, like, when you start sweating, all those things
come out. And when I would smell that, I would be like, alright, today’s my
day, let me get his back, or I’m gonna push the pace, or in the 4th,
5th minute of these rounds, he’s gonna deal with a more
aggressive version. So, it was almost night and day in the gym.”

“It was always absolute pain, but I got my best
looks on days after he had nights where he was being his worst.”

Is Jon Jones recent poor performances a sign he’s started partying again?
