Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz returns to action in December — and he’s back in a full-time role.

Ortiz returned to action last year when he won his trilogy fight with Chuck Liddell in a Golden Boy MMA event. He stated he was done fighting afterwards, only to sign a deal with Combate Americas — where he’ll face Alberto El Patron in December.

The main reason he’s back competing? He feels he has unfinished business especially after an injury-ridden career:

“I was not really into walking away [after the Chuck Liddell fight] just because I felt I still had so much more to go,” Ortiz told MMA Fighting. “I was 43 at the time, and one of my friends, Randy Couture, I had to ask him what made him come back at 43 and win the heavyweight world title in the UFC. He said, ‘Tito, I wasn’t done, I had a lot more to do,’ and that’s all I needed to hear.

“I’m healthy. You’ve got to understand from 2003 to 2014, I’ve been riddled with injuries—back and neck and knees and I’ve had four neck surgeries, a back surgery, three knee surgeries—my body is finally reacting the right way when I was champ. I feel like that. I feel better now than when I was in my 30s because I’m able to put in hard work in the gym.”

Ortiz expects to get the win over the former professional wrestler — who does have some mixed martial arts experience — and is already looking ahead.

He plans on becoming a world champion again and facing Bellator’s two division champion Ryan Bader, who he notably beat as an underdog back at UFC 132 in 2011.

“I would like to chase after a world title after this.” Ortiz said. “I know Ryan Bader is the heavyweight world champion and the light heavyweight world champion of Bellator.

“I would like to go after that light heavyweight belt and give him a chance at redemption when I beat him back in 2011.”

But first things first — smash El Patron and put on a show on December 7:

“Right now it’s all Alberto Del Rio,” Ortiz added. “Smash him and make it look easy.”

What do you think of Ortiz’s plans?

Tito Ortiz may have inadvertently revealed the date and venue for his upcoming mixed martial arts fight with former WWE star Alberto Del Rio.

The two are set to collide in a Combate Americas event and even got the ball rolling with a rather cringeworthy faceoff last month. However, there was no date or venue for the fight. Until now.

In the latest video of his YouTube series, Ortiz revealed he was in contact with Donald Trump Jr. via Instagram. Ortiz’s message could be read stating it would take place in Hidalgo, Texas on December 7. Combate Americas, meanwhile, has yet to confirm anything.

Trump Jr. replied that he would see if he could make the event. You can see the message below:

In addition, you can see the full video below:

Ortiz last competed in MMA in November last year when he finally avenged his two defeats to Chuck Liddell with a knockout victory.

As for Del Rio, he does have MMA experience having notably fought Mirko Cro Cop. However, the Combate Americas executive has not competed since a TKO loss to Mamoru Yamamoto in 2010.

Dana White Believed He Would Have ‘F****d Up’ Tito Ortiz In A Boxing Fight

UFC president, Dana White, and former UFC champion and UFC Hall of Famer, Tito Ortiz never got along. The two did not like each other and it got so bad that White would never be a part of Ortiz’s contract negotiations.

During one of those negotiations though, Tito Ortiz asked for a boxing match with Dana White. Yet, it never came fruition and the question of why is a big one. According to the UFC president, it is because Ortiz knew he would have lost.

“I knew (I would win), and so did he. That’s why it didn’t happen,” Dana White said to Barstool Sports (h/t BJPENN.com). “Tito Ortiz was doing a new deal with us. Tito and I hated each other so bad that Lorenzo Fertitta did this deal. Tito never had great hands. He had been working on his boxing with Fernando Vargas. He started to feel like his hands were getting in a good place and we hated each other. He told Lorenzo the last thing he wanted in his deal was a three round boxing match with me. Three three-minute rounds. I told Lorenzo yes, sign the deal.”

Why Dana White was so confident is simple. He sparred with Tito Ortiz before and said he was piecing him up.

“This wasn’t going to be the first time Tito and I boxed. As it started to get closer and I was training — at the time I was sparring with heavyweight pro boxers who were ranked in the top-10 to get ready for that fight — I was in ridiculous shape and I was ready. I was going to whoop his ass in front of everybody,” Dana White said.

However, Dana White admits if it would have been an MMA fight, Tito Ortiz would win rather easily. But, since it is boxing, he knew he would win the fight.

“Let me make this very clear. If this was an MMA match, Tito would murder me. Like it would be the most horrific beating you’ve ever f*ckng seen in your life. He would double leg me and smash me against the fence,” he said. “Tito would literally put his f*cking elbows through my skull.

“In a boxing match, I was going to f*ck him up and make him look stupid. He knows that, and that’s why that match never happened.”

Who do you think would have won the boxing fight between Dana White and Tito Ortiz?

Tito Ortiz is now a member of Combate Americas and his first fight is set to be against Alberto Del Rio.

Del Rio is currently serving as an executive for Combate Americas but will step away from that to step inside the cage for an event to fight Ortiz. The two have really played up their rivalry as of late, but the two were in the cage and decided to call out each other out again. Even though the fight is set.

However, the way they did it got some people saying it was scripted and arguably the worst promo in MMA history. Well, take a look for yourself.

Tito Ortiz last fought back in November of last year at the first Golden Boy MMA event. There, in the main event, he knocked out Chuck Liddell. Before that,” The Huntington Beach Badboy” was fighting in Bellator where his last fight was at Bellator 170 where submitted Chael Sonnen.

The 44-year-old is currently 20-12 as a pro and on a two-fight winning streak. He is a UFC Hall of Famer and former UFC light heavyweight champion. He also has notable wins over the likes of Stephan Bonnar, Ryan Bader, Ken Shamrock (three times), Vitor Belfort, Forrest Griffin, and Wanderlei Silva among others.

Alberto Del Rio, meanwhile, is 9-5 as a pro and fought PRIDE and DEEP early on his career. However, he has not competed in an MMA event since 2010 where he was knocked out by Mamoru Yamamoto. He did fight Mirko Cro Cop in PRIDE and was knocked out in just 46 seconds.

When and where this fight will take place is still unknown.

Is this promo between Tito Ortiz and Alberto Del Rio the worst promo in MMA history?
