UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling may be on a collision course with Henry Cejudo for his next title defense.

Sterling is pondering his options regarding his next bantamweight title defense. He most recently outlasted Petr Yan via a split decision at UFC 273 earlier this year.

Former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw had been assumed to be the next man up, but Sterling also expressed interest in fights with Dominick Cruz and José Aldo during a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience.

One prominent name left out of Sterling’s brainstorming was Cejudo, who recently re-entered the USADA pool and appears set for a return to the Octagon later this year. After getting word of Sterling’s comments, Cejudo blasted the 135lb champion on social media.

“Since I told this man what I would do to him on the sit down with [Daniel Cormier] he stopped bringing my name up,” Cejudo said of Sterling. “You a smart little hoe [Aljamain Sterling] relish and cherish my belt. Two of those so-called legends lasted one round and the other two.”

Following Cejudo’s attacks, Sterling hit back at the former champion in a recent tweet.

“Lol don’t get your speedos in a bunch cupcake,” Sterling replied. “Ask the media why they didn’t add the parts of me accepting a fight with you. But then again, you’re not even in the players bracket “Mr. Timeout, I need a break!”

Cejudo retired from the UFC following a win over Cruz at UFC 249. He has since hinted at a UFC comeback and a potential move to featherweight to challenge Alexander Volkanovski.

Dillashaw seems to be the most logical option for the next title shot against Sterling, but Cejudo seems open to a move back to his divisional stomping grounds for an opportunity to become a three-time UFC champion.

UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett has come under fire for gaining copious amounts of weight in between fights. While his off-camp binging may have endeared him to the fans, fellow fighter TJ Dillashaw is not a fan of the 27-year-old Brit. The former UFC Bantamweight champion expressed his disapproval of Pimblett’s work ethic during a recent appearance on the Food Truck Diaries with Brendan Schaub.

Paddy Pimblett fires back at TJ Dillashaw

‘The Baddy’ is often likened to the Family Guy character ‘Chris Griffin’ for their resemblance in look with other habits. While he’s a good sport in playing along with the comparison, he wasted no time in responding to TJ Dillashaw’s criticism of him as an athlete, taking to Twitter to bash the 36-year-old veteran for his rebuke.

“Is this fella messin @TJDillashaw used to sell tee shirts with his fat face on it saying “fat Tyler” on when he came out of camp don’t forget ur own past u sausage. Cheating little juice head wud never have won a belt without them steroids u fucking mushroom”

Paddy Pimblett is yet to lose in the UFC having won both of his first two outings. He is slated to face Jordan Leavitt in his next bout on the UFC London card in July.

TJ Dillashaw looking to make his return

TJ Dillashaw has remained out of action since last July’s most recent outing against Cory Sandhagen. Prior to his latest win, Dillashaw was suspended for two years following a failed drug test during his flyweight title fight with Henry Cejudo. The 36-year-old veteran is known for his work ethic and competitiveness being a senior fighter in the UFC.

Having not lost his belt inside the octagon, Dillashaw is looking to get a shot at the current UFC bantamweight titleholder Aljamain Sterling. The top five in the 135-lbs division have not been booked for a fight ahead as they work towards an eliminator style format to determine the next top contender and champion.

Paddy Pimblett has responded to former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw’s harsh critique of his weight gain in between fights.

Pimblett has been known to enjoy himself quite a bit in between fight camps. He has looked like a completely different person following fight night, gaining large quantities of weight and enjoying a variety of unhealthy food choices.

Some feel that Pimblett should tone it down with his post-fight weight gains, while others feel that his recent victories prove it isn’t an issue. But during a recent interview on The Schaub Show, Dillashaw gave his thoughts on Pimblett’s weight gains.

“He’s just loving diabetes. That’s like a recipe for destroying your body,” Dillashaw said of Pimblett. “I guess there’s one thing when I look at it: They can promote him the right way and do all this good stuff, and he’s got some stuff to grow and get into the higher echelons of the UFC, but if you keep that same work ethic that he has now, he’ll never be a champion.

“You can’t have that down time like that, you can’t get that fat. You can’t get out of shape. It just proves the dedication to what you need to do. I’m not trying to pound on him or anything, but that’s something I think he’s going to have to figure out with age. He’s young. It’s a full-time job. This isn’t just wanting to be a fighter; you have to be a fighter.” (h/t BJ Penn)

After getting word of Dillashaw’s comments, Pimblett hit back in a recent tweet.

“Is this fella messin,” Pimblett replied. “[TJ Dillashaw] used to sell tee shirts with his fat face on it saying ‘fat Tyler’ on when he came out of camp don’t forget ur own past u sausage. Cheating little juice head wud never have won a belt without them steroids u fucking mushroom.”

Pimblett signed with the UFC following a successful run in Cage Warriors which included a featherweight title. He won his UFC debut over Luigi Vendramini last year before following it up with a first-round submission of Kazula Vargas at UFC London back in March.

Pimblett doesn’t plan on adjusting his post-fight routines anytime soon as he looks to continue to move up in the lightweight division.

Do you think Paddy Pimblett should limit his weight gain in between fights?

TJ Dillashaw Weighs In On Cody Garbrandt’s Recent Losing Skid

Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw has an idea of what Cody Garbrandt needs to do to get back on track in his career.

Dillashaw is expected to face Aljamain Sterling later this year for the next bantamweight title shot. He lost his belt after getting suspended for two years by USADA for EPO use.

Dillashaw returned last summer with a split decision win over Cory Sandhagen in one of the best fights of 2021. But, he suffered a nasty leg injury early on in the fight that required surgery and paused his comeback.

Dillashaw and Garbrandt battled twice in the Octagon, with Dillashaw winning both title fights. He took Garbrandt’s belt at UFC 217 before winning an immediate rematch at UFC 227.

Garbrandt’s struggles have continued after his Dillashaw fights, with knockout losses to the likes of Pedro Munhoz and flyweight Kai Kara-France. He’s slated to return later this year against Rani Yahya after his loss to Kara-France.

During a recent appearance on The Schaub Show, Dillashaw gave his thoughts on Garbrandt’s skillset and why he’s struggled in the Octagon.

“He’s a pretty freak athlete,” Dillashaw said. “He’s fast. He’s the fastest guy I’ve ever sparred or fought, by far the most speed, but I’m not trying to be a complete a**hole, but he’s not the smartest human being inside that cage. To be able to stay on the top, you’ve got to change who you are and fight to fight to fight, he’s the exact same fighter. He’s a wrestler. He knows how to wrestle. Why not learn some jiu-jitsu and stop relying on your chin and hands because your chin is not there.

“So change up who you are as a fighter, and he’s just not willing to do that. He’s gonna keep his head in the same spot, his hands are gonna be low, and he’s gonna throw hard, fast hooks. So after everyone sees where his weaknesses are at, and his left hand is in his pocket as he throws the right hand, just keep your left hand high and smoke him with the right. I mean, game over. We’ve seen it like five fights in a row.” (h/t MMA Junkie)

Garbrandt has lost five of his last six fights, with four of those losses coming by knockout and with his lone decision loss coming against Rob Font. A loss to Yahya later in 2022 could be potentially the end of Garbrandt’s run in the UFC.

That said, Dillashaw doesn’t believe that Garbrandt’s mistakes aren’t correctable, and he thinks Garbrandt still has what it takes to be a matchup nightmare at bantamweight and flyweight.

Do you agree with TJ Dillashaw’s assessment of Cody Garbrandt?

Former UFC bantamweight champion, T.J. Dillashaw, says that the UFC’s newest rising star, Paddy Pimblett’s poor diet outside of fight camp will come back to haunt him.

Dillashaw, who was banned from competing for two years for ingesting EPO, an injectable steroid, has criticized Liverpool’s, Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett for his infamous out-of-competition weight gains.

Talking to Brendan Schaub on ‘The Schaub Show’, Dillashaw shared that he is doubtful of Pimblett reaching the heights that he and the UFC desire. “He’s loving diabetes, said Dillashaw. “That’s like a recipe for just destroying your body. I guess there’s one thing if I’m looking at it,”

“They can promote him the right way and he might have what it takes to get into the higher echelons of the UFC, but if you keep that same work ethic he has now, then he’ll never be UFC champion.”

Although critical, Dillashaw would clarify that although he cannot envision Pimblett taking that step into the elite category with his current habits, the Scouser is still young and can correct his mistakes.

“You can’t have that down time like that,” Dillashaw continued. “You can’t get that fat and out of shape. It just proves the dedication you need to do what you do. I’m not trying to clown on him but that’s something he’s going to have to figure out with age, right?  He’s young and this is a full-time job. This isn’t a job where you want to be a fighter. You have to be a fighter.”

Paddy Pimblett’s Weight Gain

To the amusement of many fans, ever since Pimblett’s entrance to the UFC, we have seen him balloon up in weight following his fights. We are presented on fight night with a thin, in shape Pimblett, then, in what seems like overnight we are greeted with someone almost unrecognizable.

Via his YouTube, we see Pimblett just following his win over Luigi Vendramini, tipping the scales at 202lbs, nearly 50lbs above his fight weight.

Dillashaw Responds To Cruz’s UFC “Hook-Up” Claim: ‘He’s A Salty C*nt’

UFC bantamweight TJ Dillashaw had some choice words when asked about some recent comments from fellow former champion Dominick Cruz.

After more than two years out the game owing to a failed drug test and USADA suspension, former two-time titleholder Dillashaw returned to the Octagon last July at UFC Vegas 32. Seeing no need for a tune-up fight, the veteran jumped straight back into the deep end against then-#2 contender Cory Sandhagen.

Overcoming some heavy adversity in the form of a deep cut and a serious knee injury sustained inside the opening round, Dillashaw secured victory by way of split decision, leaving him back in the bantamweight shark tank and in line for a shot at regaining his place on the throne.

But despite Dillashaw’s calls for a title shot, as well as champion Aljamain Sterling’s apparent willingness to face the challenge of the Californian next, one top-10 bantamweight sees a Dillashaw championship opportunity as ludicrous.

During a recent interview on The MMA Hour, Cruz, who dethroned Dillashaw back in 2016, suggested that the UFC would be providing a “hook-up” for the 36-year-old by placing him in a title fight after just one fight back from suspension.

In response, Dillashaw branded the current #8-ranked contender as a “salty c*nt” who’s jealous that he’s been able to maintain his place at the top of the division despite a lengthy layoff.

“He sounds like a salty c*nt, to be honest,” asserted Dillashaw during an appearance on Submission Radio. “He’s just jealous of me being able to stay at the top with my layoff and how long I’ve been in the sport, and me being able to come back and prove that I’m still the best, you know?”

In criticizing what looks to be a likely title shot for Dillashaw, Cruz also seemed to suggest that Dillashaw won’t have been truly punished for his infractions should he be granted the next fight with Sterling, especially considering that he “didn’t really lose any money” during his period away from the cage.

According to Dillashaw, the idea that he didn’t suffer from a loss of income during his suspension, which led to him losing the 135-pound title, is far from the truth.

“And I did lose money, right? Me not fighting for two years while being the champion is a lot of money out of my pocket, you know, (if I kept) racking the wins, getting title defenses,” suggested Dillashaw. “I mean, we’re talking about million and millions of dollars that I let slip through my fingers because I made a f*cking stupid mistake.

“I paid my time, I came back and f*cking grinded to get that win (over Sandhagen) on one leg and one eye, and there’s nothing you can do to deny me, that’s my shot,” insisted Dillashaw.

Dillashaw: “Salty” Is Cruz’s Personality

Ultimately, Dillashaw didn’t seem too surprised by Cruz’s comments. He went on to suggest that being “salty” about the success of others is simply a big part of the 37-year-old’s personality.

Dillashaw also explained that Cruz is likely looking to downplay his title credentials because he won’t ever make it back to contention himself.

“He’s just being salty, and that’s kinda his personality anyways. He’s kind of an unlikeable dude,” said Dillashaw. “I mean, I’ve always respected him, I think he’s got a good eye for stuff, but he’s got like, this chip on his shoulder where he feels like everything’s owed to him. He’s always complaining about sh*t.

“It’s just his personality. Of course, he’s gonna say that. But it’s because he’ll never get there again,” added Dillashaw. “I don’t think he’s ever gonna have a shot to get the belt back. That probably bothers him because, at one time, he was the best.”

While Cruz, who is riding a two-fight win streak following 2021 victories over Casey Kenney and Pedro Munhoz, will be looking for the next opponent who can help him claw his way back to the top, it seems more than likely that Dillashaw is already there.

As well as Sterling’s in-person post-fight callout at UFC 273, both men have gone back and forth on social media and in interviews. It seems only a matter of time until that bout gets booked, especially given that Dillashaw has made a full recovery following two knee surgeries last year.

Who do you agree with, TJ Dillashaw or Dominick Cruz?
