It’s going to be a while before we see ex-UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw compete inside the Octagon again.

Dillashaw was suspended for two years by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) after testing positive for EPO during his fight against Henry Cejudo in January. Ultimately, Cejudo finished Dillashaw in the first round via TKO. In an interview with Chael Sonnen, Dillashaw explained he did intentionally cheat to help with his weight cut down to 125 pounds.

“The Viper” has taken his punishment in stride and has owned up to his mistake several times. He is using his suspension time to heal up some lingering shoulder issues, and recently took to social media to promise he’ll return “better than ever” once his suspension is lifted:

“Can’t wait to have healthy shoulders and get back on that grind with my team. It is a promise that I will be better than ever when I make my return. Thank you for sticking with me”

It will be interesting to see who Dillashaw fights upon his return. In his absence, Henry Cejudo has established himself as the king at 135 pounds, winning the vacant strap that Dillashaw was forced to vacate. There will be no shortage of matchups for Dillashaw upon his return, as the division is overflowing with contenders as of late such as Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling.

What do you think about Dillashaw vowing to return from suspension “better than ever?”

Urijah Faber has his sights set on a bantamweight title bout with Henry Cejudo. However, Faber would also like to step into the Octagon against his former friend and teammate TJ Dillashaw.

Of course, he’ll have to wait two years, as Dillashaw was recently handed a United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) suspension for the admitted use of a banned substance. However, as Faber told ESPN’s Karyn Bryant and Tyron Woodley on the UFC Sacramento post-fight show, if you were to write a move about his career, a fight with Dillashaw is a must (via MMA Fighting):

“There’s more opportunity with TJ in the mix to be honest. You want to write a movie? Put that scenario in there,” Faber said. “I’ve been talking about this long before they finally caught TJ for being a little cheat.

“We knew that was coming. By the time TJ returns from suspension, recovering from all this stuff, I’ll be 41 and a half so we’ll see how it goes. I’m not scared to fight, that’s for sure.”

Faber comes off a stunning first-round knockout win over Ricky Simon in the UFC Sacramento co-main event. The victory came in Faber’s first fight in several years after ending an initial retirement. It’s clear “The California Kid” is attempting one more run at the 135-pound title that has eluded him his entire career, before finally walking away from the sport for good.

However, whether or not that run will include an eventual meeting with Dillashaw remains to be seen.

What do you think about Faber possibly fighting Dillashaw upon his return from suspension?

TJ Dillashaw is currently sitting on the self for two years. The former UFC bantamweight champion was caught abusing performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) following his first-round TKO loss to Henry Cejudo in January.

Dillashaw has been very open about intentionally cheating ahead of the fight in order to make weight for the 125-pound contest, and is handling his suspension as well as anyone could. In the meantime, his peers continue to offer their opinions on the situation in the fallout.

Recently, former UFC flyweight champion, and current ONE Championship competitor Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson chimed in on the topic. Johnson and Dillashaw were at one point rumored for a massive super fight with one another, however, negotiations for the contest fell flat.

When Johnson was asked if he feels like he dodged a bullet, the former 125-pound king denied such a claim, and admits he was actually “thrown off” by the news (via MMA News):

“No, not at all,” Johnson said. “Obviously, it is what it is. He got caught using a banned substance, which I was totally thrown off by it, and it’s a shame. But at the end of the day, it’s mixed martial arts.

“He’ll serve his time, two to three years of USADA. He’ll come back, compete, make money, and life will go on as usual.”

Even if Johnson had fought Dillashaw while he was on a banned substance, this wouldn’t have been the first time the former pound-for-pound king dealt with such an obstacle:

“That’s not the first time. I fought Ali Bagautinov, and he tested positive for EPO,” Johnson said. “So I’ve already been in that boat before. And when I found out about it, I was playing video games. And I said, ‘Ariel Helwani, I’m busy right now. This is not important.’”

What do you make of Johnson’s comments on Dillashaw’s PED usage?
