The UFC has raised several personal bars with its first stadium show, UFC 129 next week in Toronto. Why not one more?

The UFC announced early Thursday morning via its Twitter feed that all five of its unaired preliminary card fights for UFC 129 will be streamed live on Facebook. MMA Fighting was first to report Wednesday that at least two bouts were planned for the social networking giant.

For the first time in its history, every fight on the card will air on a broadcast of some type. The first five fights will stream at the UFC’s Facebook fan page, a trend the company started in January at its Fight for the Troops 2 show. Two prelims will air live on Spike TV, a common pay-per-view lead-in the promotion started at UFC 103 in September 2009. And the main card will air on pay-per-view.

Pressure? As far as Lyoto Machida is concerned, it’s a case of been there, done that.

After Machida stormed through his first six UFC opponents, never even so much as losing a round, he made quick work of Rashad Evans at UFC 98 to win the light heavyweight title. Joe Rogan declared it the start of “The Machida Era.” Talk about pressure.

The buzz word around the UFC for years, especially from president Dana White, has been “global.”

With its first stadium show, UFC 129 in Toronto on April 30, the promotion may have hit that word harder than it ever has before.

UFC 129 will shatter North American mixed martial arts gate and attendance records with an expected 55,000 fans at the Rogers Centre for a gate of more than $10 million. And the UFC Fan Expo being held in conjunction with the fight card has opened the doors for more fans at one MMA event than any other in history.

But Tom Wright, the UFC’s director of Canadian operations, said Tuesday that for UFC 129, “global” will be more than just a buzz word. It will be quite literal.

You wouldn’t have known it from his last two title defenses, but UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo was fighting hurt.

Last fall, his issues finally came to enough of a head that he was forced to pull out of a scheduled title defense at UFC 125 so he could get healthy. And while a neck injury was the official reason for pulling out of his fight with Josh Grispi in January, it was an issue with his right shoulder that has had him on the shelf for six months.

“There were two things that were bothering him,” said Aldo’s translator, Derek Lee, during a Tuesday media call ahead of UFC 129. “The first was on his neck – the C5 and C6, he had a little bit of pain on his discs. But really, the main injury was on his right shoulder. He feels that he injured it during the Mike Brown fight, and after that he still fought Urijah Faber and Manny Gamburyan.”
