Two of combat sports’ biggest stars are currently involved with WWE. First, lineal heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury is running a program with one of WWE’s top big men, Braun Strowman. Also, two-time UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez has now inked a multi-year deal with WWE.

Both men will make their in-ring debuts at the upcoming Crown Jewel event from Daudi Arabia later this month. Velasquez takes on Brock Lesnar, while Fury squares off with Strowman. A press conference was held by WWE last week to promote the event. Speaking to media outlets such as MMA Junkie afterward, Fury said he’s open to doing a WWE match with Velasquez down the road.

“Yeah, listen. Me and Cain, we’ve got a rivalry going back from when he was UFC heavyweight champion, from a right few years ago,” Fury said. “There was a lot of back and forward on social media back then. And, who knows, maybe that rivalry could spill over into WWE.”

Aside from a match with Velasquez, Fury also said he’s willing to step into the ring with any of the world’s top big men.

“I’d love to fight them all,” he said. “I’m a prizefighter. I’ve never ducked a fight in my life, and I’ll fight anybody.”

What do you think about a potential WWE match between Fury and Velasquez?

Andy Ruiz Jr. has offered up his reaction to Tyson Fury’s performance last night (Sat. September 14, 2019).

Fury took on Otto Wallin in Las Vegas with the former’s lineal heavyweight title on the line. “The Gypsy King” sustained a nasty gash early on before cruising his way to a decision win, still dealing with the adversity of the cut that could’ve very well stopped the fight.

Everyone has been critical of Fury’s performance in the bout, even his own father. But now, Ruiz, the unified heavyweight champion of the world, has chimed in.

Ruiz is referring to past comments made by Fury in an interview (via Sportstar), where the Englishman claimed he’d beat Ruiz with one hand tied behind his back.

“I will let the fans decide, which hand I put behind my back and beat Ruiz with the other hand – because I only need one hand for him.”

In the meantime, both Fury and Ruiz are seemingly booked for the foreseeable future. Fury is expected to run things back with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder early next year, while Ruiz will rematch Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia this December.

What do you make of Ruiz’s comments towards Fury after his close victory last night?

Tyson Fury’s father John was not impressed whatsoever by his son’s performance against Otto Wallin on Saturday night.

Fury maintained his undefeated record with a unanimous decision victory over Wallin in Las Vegas. However, it was far from easy as Wallin was a game opponent who even opened up two early cuts near Fury’s right eye.

And for John, it was a case of a bad camp and he believes trainer Ben Davidson and the rest of the team is to blame:

“I don’t know how he has taken the cut in the third and made it to the 12th,” the senior Fury said in a BT Sport interview (transcript via MMA Mania). “It has gone terribly wrong in the camp and someone is to blame. Tyson never landed a meaningful punch. If Tyson had been in front of one of the top-three or Alexander Povetkin, he would not have won. I am a straight talker and that is the worst I have ever seen him.

“I have half an idea what went wrong but I cannot share it. He has done an eight-week camp but his strength and power have gone. He was as weak as a kitten. His body looked a lot softer tonight. He is not an 18 stone fighter, he wants to be body beautiful. I have seen this coming. I saw this coming. If he keeps hold of that team, that whole team, they will cost him his career. Ben Davidson and everyone.

”The cutman is the only one who can take any credit. it was like a shark’s mouth. If this was not his show, if he was the away fight, he would have been gone.”

Harsh words from the senior Fury but Davidson responded in a respectful manner:

“John is Tyson’s dad so of course you have to respect him,” Davidson said. “But Tyson was fully prepared and you can’t do anything about sustaining a bad cut. Just because he’s gone 12 rounds it doesn’t mean he’s weak. If he was weak he wouldn’t have been able to do 12 rounds there.”

Tyson Fury is still undefeated, and still the lineal heavyweight boxing champion of the world.

“The Gypsy King” took on Otto Wallin from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, going all 12 rounds with the Swedish slugger. Fury was clearly the superior boxer on the night, but Wallin completely changed the entire dynamic of the contest after cutting Fury’s eye with a huge and nasty gash early on. Fans got scared after the doctor checked on the cut a few rounds later, but after being assured by Fury he could see, allowed the fight to continue.

Fury managed to battle through vision issues, with blood streaming down his face, and continue to outclass Wallin on the feet. Wallin began to fade late in the contest, however, he put it all on the line in the 12th round, rocking Fury badly, forcing the Englishman to clinch up with Wallin several times. After time expired, the winner was determined via the judges’ scorecards, where Fury took home the unanimous decision victory.

It was nothing but class from both men in their post-fight speeches, but Fury did take the opportunity to call out Deontay Wilder for their rematch next winter. Fury called Wilder a “bum” and said he wants him next. Check out some photos of Fury’s cut from the fight below.
