Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s growing celebrity makes him one of the few MMA stars who can do the late-night circuit to promote his fighting career. On Thursday night, Jackson appeared on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson to discuss his upcoming UFC 123 fight with Lyoto Machida.
A smiling Jackson appeared well at ease joking around with Ferguson, and while the conversation veered to different topics at times, Jackson did get to take a jab at Machida’s style during his appearance. After being asked by Ferguson what he knew about Machida, Jackson laughed.

When last we left the Fighter vs. Writer series, I came to what I choose to think of as a very respectable draw against Jason “Mayhem” Miller. You could point out that if I hadn’t felt the need to be contrary and pick Martin Kampmann over Jake Shields, I would have won. To that I’d say, ‘You’re right, you jerk. I guess you just know everything, don’t you?’
But rather than dwell on hypothetical conversations that exist only in my head, we move forward to UFC 122 and a fight-picking showdown with former “Ultimate Fighter” contestant and recent Sportscenter highlight-maker Gerald Harris, who took some time out from training for his fight at UFC 123 next weekend to match wits with me.
Unlike Gerald, I haven’t slammed my way on to ESPN (yet), but I feel pretty good about my prognosticating powers this week. That is why I now turn awkwardly toward the “Hurricane” and utter the four most important words in the English language: You wanna do it?

Several moons ago, back in March 2009, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson did what he often does, he riffed on a topic that didn’t necessarily pertain to him at the time. The subject that day was Lyoto Machida, who was then still unbeaten and on his way to becoming the UFC light-heavyweight champion.
Jackson, it seemed, wasn’t a fan of Machida’s deliberate, karate-based style, and though he admitted Machida was good, he called him “boring as hell.” All this time later, Jackson’s words were resurrected and offered up to him to see if he had changed or perhaps softened his opinion on the man he’ll be facing next week at UFC 123. It didn’t take a genius to know what was coming.

UFC lightweight Joe Lauzon said he hasn’t yet decided whether to make an issue of George Sotiropoulos‘ somewhat controversial attire when the two meet at UFC 123 on Nov. 20, but judging by his recent remarks, you can bet he’s put some thought into it.
“I don’t really understand how he gets away with them,” Lauzon told Ariel Helwani on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour. “We’re definitely going to look into it a little bit.”
Sotiropoulos has been criticized in the past for wearing a mix of gear that covers nearly all of his legs, thus creating the same effect as a pair of grappling tights, which are prohibited by many state athletic commissions in the U.S.
