GSP Wants to Finish Shields…Um…Yeah, We’ve Heard that Before. Either Way, He’s Still Awesome!

Georges St. Pierre talks with MMA Journalist, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com about finishing Jake Shields this Saturday night at UFC 129. GSP says “It’s hard to finish a guy that doesn’t completely come forward to attack me, you know a lot of guy[s] they-they, but I know one thing is Jake Shields is gonna bring […]

Georges St. Pierre talks with MMA Journalist, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com about finishing Jake Shields this Saturday night at UFC 129. GSP says “It’s hard to finish a guy that doesn’t completely come forward to attack me, you know a lot of guy[s] they-they, but I know one thing is Jake Shields is gonna bring the best of Georges St. Pierre.”

We hear the finish a fighter talk all the time and as long as GSP puts in the solid work he did against Josh Koscheck, then we’ll forgive him if he wins by decision. Best part of the interview, GSP may be the only Canadian who doesn’t follow hockey. Watch video below.

*And if you think a “finish” is possible in the fight, head here to place a prop bet!

UFC 129 is as stacked a card as we were expecting for Zuffa’s foray into Toronto. Two title fights. One (alleged) swan song. And more than a few fighters just trying to prove that they deserve a place at the table.

Randy Couture might be ready to walk away of his own accord (or, depending on who you ask, maybe not), but how about the fighters who are competing for their jobs on Saturday night?

Fortunately, the Cut List is here to tell you who needs a win like a thirsty Canadian needs a Molson.

Lorenzo Fertitta Working on Hendo vs. Fedor

After Zuffa purchased Strikeforce during its most recent game of MMA Monopoly (it was right beside the WFA, two spots before Free Parking), one of the more discussed topics was what would go down with Fedor Emelianenko and M-1 Global. If you’re new to the sport, then you might not know that UFC boss man […]

After Zuffa purchased Strikeforce during its most recent game of MMA Monopoly (it was right beside the WFA, two spots before Free Parking), one of the more discussed topics was what would go down with Fedor Emelianenko and M-1 Global. If you’re new to the sport, then you might not know that UFC boss man Dana White and the Russian star’s management aren’t exactly bestest buddies .

Of course, Fedor hasn’t exactly been bolstering his bargaining position by losing back-to-back fights to Fabricio Werdum and Antonio Silva, but despite his recent setbacks, people are still keen to see him tussle. For example, when reports surfaced stating Strikeforce was trying to put together a fight between Dan Henderson and Fedor, we, like many others, were pretty damn happy. Well, the good news is that Zuffa apparently is going to do their part to git r done as well. White reported this week at the UFC 129 pre-fight festivities (thanks to MMA Junkie for the quote) :

“Lorenzo’s working on it,” White said Thursday. “Me getting anywhere near that thing? You’ll never see that fight.”… “I’ve been out of it,” White added.  “Me involved in that situation would only make matters worse. The great thing about this company and the way we do things – there’s a lot of people I butt heads with. Lorenzo can handle it, and then I can handle stuff. (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva handles stuff.”

Yes, feel free to wipe your forehead, as it’s looking more and more like this bout will happen. Speaking of UFC 129, to bet on any of the fights head here.

Our weekly interview with The Ultimate Fighter cast member Ramsey Nijem includes not only a look at the fight that took place on this week’s show — Clay Harvison defeating Mick Bowman — but also the fight that everyone in the MMA world is discussing this week, Georges St. Pierre vs. Jake Shields at UFC 129.

Although he knows he’s in the minority, Nijem is picking Shields. That’s motivated in part by Nijem’s status as one of Shields’ training partners to help him get ready for the St. Pierre fight, but it’s not just talk: Nijem says he put down some money on Shields.

Nijem also comments on this week’s Ultimate Fighter episode. The full interview is below.
