Our friends at RawVegas.tv caught up with “The Coach”, Shawn Tompkins before he left on a plane to Ontario to finish up his training camp for UFC 129 number one Featherweight contender, Mark Hominick who will face the champion, Jose Aldo this April 30th in Toronto. Host, Steve Cofield of Cagewriter.com asked for Tompkins’ take on the Greg Jackson/Rashad Evans/Jon Jones threesome gone way wrong and his thoughts on a Vitor Belfort/Wanderlei Silva matchup, having trained both fighters in the past. Tompkins also tells us “never again” will he train Belfort, in fact he may never train another already well-known fighter. He is more interested in building fighters from the ground up. Remember when Matt Hughes and Georges St. Pierre were the talk of rivalry town; Hughes giving GSP a hard time on TUF, Georges tossing out the now famous “I am not impressed with your performance” bit at UFC 63. Ah, those were the days…
Well, things have changed a lot since then; GSP now stands atop the welterweight division while it remains to be seen what’s next for Hughes, following his ‘well that was quick’ loss to Penn in November. In a recent interview with Five Knuckles.com, Hughes was asked for his thoughts on GSP’s upcoming bout with Jake Shields, and the former champ predicted an easy night for his former rival.
“I think that’s gonna be a pretty easy fight,” Hughes said. “I really do. I think GSP’s going to be able to do whatever he wants. Jake’s not going to be able to get on top, so I just don’t see him being effective really anywhere. I definitely don’t think he’s going to be able to take him down, and if Shields is on his back I just don’t see him being effective. I have to really wonder why he got a title shot in the first place… but, I’ll tell you why he got a title shot is there’s no one else.”
And if you’re going to listen to someone on the topic of GSP, who better to ask than a dude that was beat down by the Canadian in their last two bouts? The legendary welterweight didn’t stop there though; he went on to say that he thinks GSP has a “pretty good chance” of beating Anderson Silva. That’s some serious respect going on. To bet on GSP vs. Shields head here.
Speculation arose Tuesday night when the welterweight fighter tweeted: “Can someone tell Canada to quit trippin and let me up in there I’m tryin to get paid.”
However, Diaz’s manager and trainer, Cesar Gracie, confirmed with MMA Fighting via text message on Wednesday that Diaz will have no problem fighting on the April 30 card.

It’s got to be tough being Georges St. Pierre right now. He’s trying to get ready to fight a guy who’s on a 15-fight winning streak, winning titles in two weight classes in three promotions along the way. And everyone is acting like the task ahead of him is so easy that he should already be thinking about his next fight.
St. Pierre just wants to put his laser-like focus on Jake Shields, whom he’ll fight at UFC 129 next month. But everyone is talking about a future fight with Anderson Silva, as if Shields is just a little diversion on the way to the superfight we all really want.
That’s true of MMA fans and media, but it also goes all the way to the top: UFC President Dana White has frequently mentioned that a St. Pierre-Silva fight could be next, and UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta told Mike Straka that GSP vs. Silva is his dream fight. It seems that everyone wants that fight — except St. Pierre himself.

The UFC is quietly contemplating a change to move up the start times of its pay-per-view broadcasts one hour, MMA Fighting has learned.
No final decision has yet been made, though a source in the organization confirmed to MMA Fighting that they are “considering the move for all events.”
Two sources confirmed that at least one date will definitely be impacted. The change will be in play for the first time at April’s massive UFC 129 event in Toronto, which will take place on April 30. On that night, the pay-per-view telecast will begin at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, one hour ahead of its usual time.
