The weigh in for the UFC 158 main event featuring Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz didn’t escalate into a brawl, but you didn’t need to be in the room to feel the tension.

The combination of competitiveness between top-level fighters, Diaz‘s insults and accusations (ESPN) and a raucous crowd is creating an explosive fight atmosphere.

Though many of Diaz‘s comments and claims seem juvenile and inappropriate, they have ignited the hype for the fight.

The weigh-in on Friday only stoked the flames.

UFC President Dana White was firmly between the two welterweights as they posed for the customary fight picture, and he probably needed to be. Check out the video below:

Both men are in tremendous shape physically, and that only adds to the intrigue for the fight.

As the champion, GSP got on the scale last, but you can see after he put on his pants and shoes, he aggressively walked towards Diaz, and White was there to prevent any premature fisticuffs.

The bad blood is real between these two men, and even though they’re professionals (well at least one of them is) when emotions are running this high, it is hard to say what can and can’t happen.

Though GSP is destined to be the crowd favorite at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on Saturday night, you could certainly hear some cheers mixed in with the boos for Diaz.

The overall response was so loud that you couldn’t hear much of what he was saying during his interview with Joe Rogan. Perhaps that could be a good thing, as he has already said enough to draw the ire of the champion.

GSP never genuinely seems to lack motivation, but he figures to be riding higher than ever for this one. Diaz has taken shots at him from almost every angle, and it appears he doesn’t just want to defeat Diaz, he wants to beat him up.

Any one that has followed Diaz‘s career knows, he is truly one of the 10 best fighters in the world, so beating him up is no easy task. GSP will need to be at his best to punish Diaz, and from the looks of him at the weigh in, the physical aspect is in order.

It’s almost time to put the talk and personas to rest and let Octagon skills dictate the result.

Georges St-Pierre is just divine.

The UFC could not design a better representative for their organization and for the sport of mixed martial arts as a whole, and GSP probably induces heart failure among UFC executives every time he steps into the Octagon for battle.

Thankfully for them, GSP is one of the most consistently dominant fighters in the sport’s history, and he has emerged victorious in 92 percent of his career fights.

Still, no fighter is invincible.

GSP has been knocked out, and he has been submitted just like any other mortal, and his UFC 158 matchup with Nick Diaz presents plenty of intrigue and mystery.

The UFC welterweight title is on the line Saturday night, and if you’re looking to live stream UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz tonight on your computer or Xbox, look no further.

One of the most important nights in the history of the 170-pound division will take place in Montreal, Quebec, with the top three bouts on the fight card all having major title implications going forward.

Jake Ellenberger will battle former Strikeforce champion Nate Marquardt in a battle that could put the winner in the top five of the division.

In the co-main event, former Interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit will look to step back into title contention as he goes up against the red-hot Johny Hendricks. Condit and Hendricks are both knockout artists who are capable of finishing any fight, and the winner is expected to be the next challenger for the title in 2013.

The main event is what everyone is most excited for, though, as Georges St-Pierre defends his title against perhaps his biggest rival ever in Nick Diaz

If it’s the pay-per-view card featuring St-Pierre and Diaz that you want to watch on your computer or Xbox, then you should strongly consider checking out the UFC’s various live-streaming partners.

Sure, there may be some poor-quality free streams elsewhere, but they can often be unreliable, and there is always a strong chance of viruses and malware with any illegal stream.

So why not put all of that concern to rest and invest in an online stream that will actually work, won’t mess up your computer and won’t leave you wondering if the cops are going to come knocking on your door?

For as little as $44.99, you can watch the UFC 158 PPV from three different locations onlineUFC.tv, the organization’s own online streaming service; Yahoo! Sports, one of the world’s largest sports websites; and the most-viewed online-streaming service, UStream.tv.

Lastly, you can also choose to party up with your friends and talk together from across the country while you enjoy UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz on Xbox LIVE through the UFC app.

Whichever option you choose, however, will provide you a live stream of excellent quality for tonight’s UFC 158 PPV, which starts at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

Don’t be fooled by other websites that say they are offering free live streams of the event. Support the sport you love and order the event legally, in high quality.

You won’t regret it!

The UFC is trimming their roster, and that means every fighter has to be on edge. The fighters on UFC 158 are no exemption.

The top fighters are in no danger. They are at the top of the card for a reason. They are quality fighters who can draw and add value to the UFC’s bottom line. The fighters on the undercard are not as fortunate, though.

Winning is the most important thing for them, but they must also try to be exciting. The UFC tends to be more forgiving for fighters who excite the crowd. Just look at noted brawler Leonard Garcia. With the pending cuts in the back of their minds it will be interesting to see how they fight at UFC 158.

Here are five fighters who could be on their way out with a loss.

Georges St-Pierre presents a terrible matchup for Nick Diaz

The hype behind this fight is immense, and the pre-fight trash talk has been extraordinary.

But do not be fooled.

Nick Diaz struggles against dominant wrestlers, and GSP is arguably the most dominant wrestler in UFC history.

Furthermore, Nick Diaz is known to taunt his opponents and force them to engage in wild brawls—a style in which Diaz excels—and GSP has long been known as one of the most focused and cool-headed, almost robotic, fighters of all time.

If you could build the perfect fighter to beat Nick Diaz, you would build GSP

That said, GSP needs to follow a strict game plan to emerge victorious in this bout.

Yes, the skill set is there for him, but Diaz will capitalize on any slip-up and potentially steal the victory.

The challenger is a worthy adversary, and to underestimate his skills would be a devastating fault on the part of the champion.

Normally, a “keys to victory” article would be presented as a slideshow, but this one is cut and dry, folks.

Key to Victory for Georges St-Pierre: Do Your Thing

That is it for GSP

If he can remain calm, avoid the brawl—tempting as it may be—and grind Diaz with his stifling wrestling and top game, he will win this fight.

Despite what past performances would have you believe, GSP can end fights in dramatic fashion, but if he gets overzealous in his pursuit of the finish, he will only facilitate Diaz‘s upset.

GSP needs to beat up Diaz on the feet with his picture-perfect jab, and then he needs to shoot for the takedown and continue to work his foe from the top.

Nothing in MMA is guaranteed, and no game plan is fail-safe.

Diaz could catch GSP in a number of ways standing or from his back, but the fact remains that GSP‘s victory can be earned by following one simple step: keep your cool and do what you always do.

If GSP goes out and performs as he always has, he will win this fight.

His style is the perfect foil for Diaz, and to think otherwise is ignorant (this coming from a guy hoping for the upset, by the way).

Should GSP follow this plan, he will emerge victorious, and Diaz will become nothing but another faded nuisance in the champion’s legacy.
