Reigning UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has established herself as quite a dominant titleholder and she’ll look to defend her strap for the fourth time when she meets fellow undefeated Polish fighter Karolina Kowalkiewicz on the main card of Nov. 12’s UFC 205 from New York City.

In today’s fight game, looks and talk seem to reign supreme, but “Joanna Champion” is more concerned with her legacy rather than having ‘big boobies’:

“I know that I’m not the prettiest one, I’m not having big boobies or I’m not American, but I want people to remember me as the best female fighter, undefeated in MMA, and the UFC champion of the world,” Jedrzejczyk said during Tuesday’s conference call.

“I want to be a legend. I want people to talk about me in five, 10 years, 20 years, that I was one of the best female MMA fighters, that I was one of the best UFC champions in the world back in the day.”

“This is what I want. I just want to retire as an undefeated champion. This is my goal. This is my dream, and I want to make this dream become (real) life.”

This fight will actually be a rematch, as the two fought once as amateurs with Jedrzejczyk winning by way of submission. The champion is obviously planning on coming out on top again, but she’s also focused on giving her country a good show:

“It’s going to be a really beautiful morning for Polish fans. Because in Poland it’s going to be very early, Nov. 13, when we are going to fight in New York. So it’s a big deal. I love my country.”

“Even though I moved to Florida, I’m still Polish. I love my city and I’m doing this for them, so I’m representing my country, even though I must face Karolina Kowalkiewicz.”

Who do you see walking away with 115-pound gold on Nov. 12?

Kavanagh: Conor McGregor’s Announcement After UFC 205 Is Positive

Much is being made of the expected announcement from UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor after his upcoming meeting with Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 in just two weeks time, with speculation ranging from the Irishman and his longtime girlfriend are expecting a child, to the announcement of his retirement from mixed martial arts (MMA) altogether.

McGregor himself has said to ‘stay tuned’ for the announcement, and has yet to lead to any hints regarding to what it may be. McGregor’s longtime head-coach John Kavanagh, however, was recently interviewed by The 42 this week and stated that ‘The Notorious One’s’ announcement will be a positive one:

“I’ll be honest I’ve heard him say a few different things and they’re all positive. I think whatever way he goes with this, it’s only positive. I don’t know what’s going to happen, like with Conor look at the last fight he can say ‘Ah, alright let the UFC — let the divisions mature, and in six months’ time I’ll see what it’s like.’ Then 24 hours later he’s like ‘let’s do a work out’. Conor has such a hyperactive mind and a hyperactive body, you never know what’s going to happen with him but for sure it’s a positive announcement. I know people are going to enjoy what he has to say.”

Whatever McGregor’s announcement ends up being when it is all said and done come fight night in ‘The Big Apple’, you can bet your bottom dollar that fight fans will be listening to the 145-pound champ’s post-fight interview with Joe Rogan very intently.

McGregor will attempt to become the first man in UFC history to be a dual-weight champion, when he takes on Alvarez for the lightweight title in the main event of UFC 205 live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the Madison Square Garden arena in New York City on November 12, 2016.

Michael Bisping better watch himself, as Donald Cerrone would definitely take a fight at middleweight if the UFC asked.

“Cowboy,” who faces Kelvin Gastelum next Saturday night at UFC 205, discussed where his future might be during an appearance on “UFC Tonight” recently.

“I’m going to keep fighting at 155, 170 and 185,” Cerrone said. “Who cares.”

The 33-year-old Cerrone (31-7) has picked up three consecutive wins since a failed attempt to win UFC lightweight gold last year vs. Rafael dos Anjos. All three of those wins have come at welterweight and have been stoppages.

Cerrone added that he already has a date in mind for one more fight this year, and brought up a potential opponent if the stars align.

“I’d be glad to fight Nick Diaz,” he said. “Anyone who wants to fight December 30, if you’re out there and want a shot, let me know.”

With nine days to go until UFC 205, the stars of the New York show have been putting in their media rounds. In what will be a historic night as the first UFC show in the Big Apple, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will attempt to etch his name in the record books. Taking on lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez for the 155-pound strap, the Irishman could become the first ever to hold simultaneous championships. After going 1-1 against Nate Diaz at welterweight, many expected it was back to the 145-pound category for ‘The Notorious.’

Clearly wanting the biggest fight possible for the main event at UFC 205, the promotion allowed McGregor to keep the featherweight belt. This decision rubbed a lot of fighters the wrong way, perhaps none more so than interim featherweight boss Jose Aldo. Until facing the outspoken Irish striker at UFC 194, ‘Scarface’ was undefeated in the UFC. 13 seconds and one punch later, Aldo lay flat-out, relinquishing the belt to his sworn enemy. ‘Junior’ would later go on to demand a release from his contract when he was denied a unification rematch with McGregor. It’s safe to say that Alvarez vs. McGregor is both an incredible and controversial pairing.

Donald Cerrone Understands This Fight

Speaking with Kenny Florian and Michael Bisping last night, top 10-ranked lightweight/welterweight Donald Cerrone says he has no hard feelings. Although he beat ‘The Silent Assassin’ at UFC 178, ‘Cowboy’ says he understands why McGregor is getting the shot. Here’s what Cerrone told ‘UFC Tonight.’

“Yeah, there’s probably a little bit of jealousy. Haha, a bit of inner jealousy, yeah you know, red panty night. Hey, he puts asses in the seats. Every time I bet against the guy he goes out there and wins, so I’m probably going to start betting for the guy. If I was Eddie I would go out there and try and wrestle, expose his ground game. Like I said though, I keep betting against the guy and he keeps proving me wrong. I’m gonna say Conor wins it, why not? I’m gonna jump the bandwagon. I understand why Conor got the main event, he seats more seats than me. The boss probably looks at me and says ‘You are more of a first fight of the night kinda guy.’”

After Calling Out GSP & Nick Diaz, Michael Bisping Won’t Be Fighting Soon

In the weeks after his close decision win over Dan Henderson at October 4’s UFC 204, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has been busy calling out two big names in Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz for the feature bout of December 10’s UFC 206 from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Neither fight seemed to materialize, yet “The Count” was tabbed to talked about as a replacement for Luke Rockhold against Jacare Souza in the main event of November’s UFC Fight Night 101 from Melbourne, Australia.

However, while serving as host of “UFC Tonight” on FOX Sports 1, he revealed that wouldn’t be fighting any of those big names, as he’s healing from a broken orbital suffered against Henderson and also has to get treatment on his knee:

“As you all know, I fought Dan Henderson very recently. I’ve got a busted orbital, I’m getting injections in my knee.”

That seems like a peculiar set of circumstances considering he was calling out GSP and Diaz so recently, but Bisping clarified that he miraculously could have recovered to take on either of those two superstars because of the payday involved, something that was absent from the bout with Jacare:

“Now I know what everyone at home is going to say: ‘Didn’t you call out GSP a couple weeks ago? Yes, I did, but really, think about this, that was a massive payday, roughly $3-4 million I would have earned from that fight. Against Jacare, I’m going to get around about a quarter.”

So the MMA world – in addition to Jacare’s manager – thinks Bisping is somehow ducking the lethal submission artist, but the British titleholder insists that is not what he’s doing and something he’s never done. In his opinion, he’s going to face the winner of Chris Weidman vs. Yoel Romero at UFC 205 or Jacare:

“I’m assuming they’re saying that I’m ducking Jacare,” Bisping said. “I’ve never ducked anybody in my life. … Next week, Yoel and Weidman are fighting. Whoever wins, either that guy, or Jacare, will be my next fight, make no mistake. But I’m not doing it in a few weeks.”

While it’s no surprise Bisping is unable to fight Souza in November, it is a curious scenario that he could seemingly fight only three weeks later if he does have a serious injury, especially considering his history of eye issues. Bisping is looking for the big payday, and unfortunately for the Fighter of the Year candidate (whether you like it or not), that’s something he’s been accused of doing rather than facing the best 185-pound martial artists in the UFC.

The only thing he can do to silence those haters is face and defeat Jacare, Weidman, or Romero in his next title fight.
