Strawweight champion Rose Namajunas and challenger Jessica Andrade faced off for the first time at a UFC press event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this week.

Namajunas (8-3) will defend her title in the main event of UFC 237 that will take place in the same Brazilian city. The 26-year-old champion will be fighting the first person not named Joanna J?drzejczyk in two years.
As for Andrade (19-6). She looked fantastic in her first-round knockout of Karolina Kowalkiewicz last September. “Bate Estaca” has won seven of her last eight fights.
UFC 237 takes place May 11 at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and UFC Fight Pass.

Jose Aldo isn’t quite sure of his UFC 237 status at the moment.
Aldo is currently slated to face Alexander Volkanovski at the pay-per-view (PPV), which takes place from the Rio Olympic Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 11, 2019. However, Aldo was hospitalized earlier this week in Brazil due to an infection.
The bacterial infection was reportedly caused by a cut suffered during training. Aldo did not react well to the first round of antibiotic treatment, but his condition soon improved and he was later released. Speaking to MMA Fighting, Aldo offered an update on his condition.
In regards to whether or not he’ll be fighting at UFC 237, Aldo still can’t commit as to whether or not he’ll be there on fight night:
“Yeah, it crossed my mind because when I got to the hospital I was only supposed to be there for a night. And then the antibiotics they gave me didn’t work. So, they waited another two days until they switched the antibiotics, which started to work.
“Obviously I thought about not being able to fight – and I still can’t say that I’m going to fight because I need to go to the doctor and get it re-evaluated, but we’re doing everything we can and hopefully I’ll get healed up.”
Aldo is doing well inside the Octagon at the moment. He is currently on a two-fight knockout streak. “Scarface” finished Jeremy Stephens back in July, and followed it up with a second-round defeat of his fellow countryman Renato Moicano in February.
He’ll step into the cage against Volkanovski, who is one of the more promising prospects at 145 pounds at the moment.
