In our co-main event of the evening at UFC 242, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier unify their lightweight titles.

Round 1:

Feeling out process and Poirier hs some shots blocked before Khabib goes in for a shot. Khabib gets the takedown and Poirier gives up his back quickly. Khabib is searching for the choke, but Poirier gets to his feet and is able to survive, but Khabib is still clinched up. Another drag down from Khabib, who gets a nice trip takedown. Poirier is back up to his feet. After a sweep, Poirier gets seated full mount on Poirier. Big ground-and-pound from Khabib to end the round.

Round 2:

Poirier comes inside and is cracking Khabib. Both men are exchanging wildly. Khabib shoots in and gets the takedown. Poirier gets to sit against the cage, and both men look tired, breathing hard. Poirier has a cut and blood is in his eyes as he tries to get to his feet. Poirier briefly gets up but is sent right back down. Poirier gets to his feet but has his hands on the ground. Poirier is able to escape Khabib’s clinch briefly, but Khabib goes right back in on him. Big knee from Khabib as the round comes to an end.

Round 3:

Khabib goes in for a takedown and Poirier has a deep guillotine. After some struggle, Khabib finally gets out. Now Khabib takes Poirier’s back and locks in a deep choke. That’s it. Poirier taps out.

In the co-main event of UFC 242, Edson Barboza and Paul Felder squared off in an excellent lightweight contest.

Round 1:

Felder walks Barboza down but Barboza is getting off some nice counter shots. Felder is cut above his right eye. Barboza rips off a nice combination. Felder continues to press forward as the round comes to an end.

Round 2:

Leg kick from Barboza but Felder presses forward with shots. Barboza still landing nicely despite Felder’s pressure. A spinning kick to the body lands flush for Barboza. A very nice takedown for Barboza right into Felder’s full guard. Felder trying to stay active off his back but Barboza is dropping shots. Armbar attempt from Felder now. A nice right hand lands for Felder, who goes in on a takedown. A knee to the body lands for Barboza to end the round.

Round 3:

A nice kick to the body for Barboza to open the round. A very nice right hand lands for Barboza. Another body kick lands for Barboza. Spinning back kick lands for Felder. Felder with some nice hooks inside but Barboza circles out. Barboza clinches up against the cage and gets the takedown, but Felder is right back up.

Official Result: Paul Felder def. Edson Barboza via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 30-27)

Next up at UFC 242 is a lightweight scrap between Islam Makhachev and Davi Ramos.

Round 1:

A nice shot lands for Makhachev after a lengthy feeling-out process. A nice jab connects for Makhachev. Ramos lands a nice lead hook. An extremely tentative round from both men. A lot of overhands from Ramos hit air.

Round 2:

A flurry of overhands from Ramos as he comes inside to clinch up with Makhachev, and goes in on a failed takedown attempt. Some body shots connect from Makhachev. A very nice left hand connects for Makhachev, and Ramos catches Makhachev coming in on a takedown with an uppercut. Another nice left hand lands for Makhachev. The round comes to an end.

Round 3:

Makhachev fails on an entry for a takedown, but after a scramble, he gets Ramos down to the ground and unleashes a flurry of ground-and-pound. Ramos has Makhachev in his full guard now. A very patient ground attack from Makhachev, who is staying just busy enough for the fight not to be stood up. Ramos looked for an armbar but Makhachev was able to prevent it. Makhachev stands up before the round ends.

Official Result: Islam Makhachev def. Davi Ramos via unanimous decision (29-27, 30-26, 30-26)
