Holly Holm vs. Raquel Pennington II is back on. Originally, the two women were scheduled to do battle at the UFC 243 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Australia. However, Holm suffered an injury and was forced to pull out of the matchup.

Pennington noted after the news broke that the fight would be rescheduled, and it, in fact, has. MMA Junkie has confirmed that Holm vs. Pennington II will be part of the UFC 246 PPV card on January 18. The card is headlined by the return of Conor McGregor against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at welterweight.

Holm is coming off a first-round TKO loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 239, where she failed to capture the featherweight title. The 37-year-old veteran has lost five of her last seven fights inside the Octagon. Holm shocked the MMA world back in November of 2015 when she became the first-ever fighter to finish Ronda Rousey in MMA competition.

Now, she’ll rematch the woman who welcomed her to the UFC back in early 2015, Pennington. Pennington was on a two-fight losing streak to Nunes and Germaine de Randamie with a split decision win over Irene Aldana. Pennington has the opportunity to make a case for a title opportunity with a big win over Holm.

What do you think about the matchup between Holm and Pennington?

Both Tim Elliott and Askar Askarov have confirmed on their respective social media accounts that they will fight each other on the card, which is headlined by a welterweight bout between the returning Conor McGregor and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

He’ll take on Askarov, who is undefeated in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. His promotional debut took place against Brandon Moreno at UFC Mexico City in September, however, the fight ended in a draw.

Now, he’ll attempt to pick up his first UFC win against Elliott on one of the biggest cards of the year. Check out the updated UFC 246 lineup below.

Former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier has given his prediction for the upcoming UFC 246 headliner between Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone.

It was confirmed on Thursday that McGregor would be returning for the first time in 15 months when he meets Cerrone on January 18 at the T-Mobile Arena.

Of course, one fighter who wanted to be McGregor’s comeback opponent was Poirier. The two fought in 2014 in a featherweight bout that saw the Irishman come out on top via knockout. However, Poirier has reached another level since then, culminating in his interim lightweight title win over featherweight champion Max Holloway earlier this year.

“I think it would make more sense [to fight me] if he’s [McGregor] trying to get back to the top,” Poirier said recently. “I was the former interim world champion. Conor’s the former undisputed world champion. We fought years ago, we both had our separate paths and we’ve both done great things.

“I think this makes a lot of sense. I’m No. 2, I think he’s No. 3. It makes a lot of sense. I think the fans want to see it as well but time will tell. I definitely want that fight, and it’s something I want to do.”

In the end, though, Cerrone was given the nod and Poirier expects a finish from McGregor:

“Conor TKO” he wrote when asked by a fan who wins and how.

Adding some comedy, he also speculated on why the fight is taking place at welterweight as opposed to lightweight:

Although “The Diamond” didn’t get the fight he wanted, it’s always possible he could face the winner.

Do you agree with Poirier’s prediction?
