UFC president Dana White thinks Dominick Reyes deserves a rematch with Jon Jones.

Reyes took Jones the distance in their light heavyweight title headliner at UFC 247 on Saturday night with an impressive performance. Many in the mixed martial arts world had Reyes winning the first three rounds.

But in the end, it was Jones who prevailed with all three judges scoring the fight in his favor. One judge even had him winning 49-46 which has drawn plenty of criticism since.

White personally had Reyes winning 3-1 going into the fifth round and believes he is deserving of a rematch. At the same time, he also acknowledges all the different scorecards and believes it doesn’t matter as there are only three judges.

“Do I think he deserves the rematch? Sure, he does,” White said at the UFC 247 post-fight press conference. “But we’ll see what happens. … Here’s the other thing. Say what you want about Jon Jones — Jon Jones wins fights. It’s not like there’s this landslide. I’ve been hearing this all night. ‘Jon Jones won the fight, it was a draw, Reyes won the fight.’ It’s all over the map.

“It all depends on the way you judge a fight and it doesn’t f*cking matter — we’re not judges. One thing I do know — both of these guys are tough as nails, man. The shots that both these guys took tonight to the body, legs, head. Phenomenal fight between two phenomenal athletes. Say what you want about Jon Jones — Jon Jones wins fights.”

Jones was previously teasing a heavyweight move but after this performance, a rematch with Reyes would only be fitting.

Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya responded to the controversial UFC 247 main event on Saturday night.

Jones narrowly defended his light heavyweight title against Dominick Reyes after all three judges scored the fight in his favor. However, it was a controversial verdict, especially as many felt Reyes did enough to win the first three rounds.

It didn’t help matters that one of the judges scored the fight 49-46 to Jones which drew major criticism from the mixed martial arts world.

As for Jones’ performance, Adesanya didn’t seem impressed in the slightest as he gave his reaction on Twitter soon after.

Adesanya notably had a vested interest in the fight seeing as he predicted him and Jones would face each other in 2021. Based on the performance, “The Last Stylebender” might fancy his chances even more if that super fight eventually comes to fruition.

For now, he has his hands full as he defends his middleweight title for the first time against Yoel Romero in the main event of UFC 248 on March 7.

The mixed martial arts (MMA) community is losing its mind over last night’s (Sat. February 8, 2020) UFC 247 main event between Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes.

The pair headlined the pay-per-view (PPV) event from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Jones and Reyes put on an absolute classic, with many believing Reyes clearly won the first three rounds. With that being said, the judges awarded Jones the fight via unanimous decision, which resulted in a tremendous amount of boos from the arena. Twitter was no different. The MMA community took to Twitter to voice their frustrations with the officiating.

Many are in agreement that Reyes should’ve won the fight, and was robbed. Of course, there are some out there who believe the fight could’ve gone either way, or that Jones was rightfully crowned the winner. However, the majority seem to be of the opinion that Reyes was robbed of the title.

Jones defended his strap against Dominick Reyes in the main event of UFC 247 on Saturday night. However, Reyes certainly surprised many given his strong start. He connected on Jones multiple times and defended a number of takedown attempts.

Most even had him winning the first three rounds. However, he could only keep his pace for so long as Jones rallied and ended the fight strong.

In the end, all three judges scored it for “Bones” who believed he was the rightful winner.
