Sean O’Malley is seemingly in good spirits despite his latest setback.

O’Malley met Marlon Vera in the co-main event of UFC 252 on Saturday night. Despite what was an even contest on the feet for most of the fight, O’Malley would end up injuring his ankle which ultimately led to his demise.

He would eventually slip on his own feet and end up receiving ground and pound from Vera before the referee quickly put an end to the contest in the first round.

As a result, O’Malley suffered the first defeat of his professional career as he was carted off following the fight.

While it’s natural that many on social media mocked him for the defeat and labeled this as the end of the hype train, it appears O’Malley received more well-wishes and support as he posted a short message after the fight.

“Love y’all ???

Hopefully, O’Malley’s injury is nothing too serious and he is back in the Octagon sooner rather than later.

UFC 252 took place Saturday night and Jon Jones was a keen observer during the main event.

Stipe Miocic successfully defended his heavyweight title after defeating Daniel Cormier via unanimous decision in their trilogy headliner.

Despite their rivalry, Jones was actively supporting Cormier during the fight. However, he eventually turned his attention to moving up to the heavyweight division himself as he targeted a fight with Miocic in the future.

“Heavyweight world championships I will be seeing you real soon. Victorious

“This is exciting for me

“For some reason these heavyweights don’t seem so big to me tonight

“Avoid Stipe’s right hand, I’m too fast, I’ll be too strong when the time is right and have way too much energy. Soon and very soon I’ll be considered the baddest man on this planet”

Jones has been hinting at a move up to heavyweight for years and most recently did so earlier this summer when he was campaigning for a super fight with Francis Ngannou.

However, failed negotiations with the UFC led to the fight not coming to fruition with Jones seemingly vacating his light heavyweight title afterwards due to his unhappiness at not being paid his worth to move up.

Perhaps now, negotiations may go differently — especially given his renewed enthusiasm.

Miocic successfully defended his heavyweight title after outpointing Daniel Cormier over five rounds in the UFC 252 main event on Saturday night.

Although there was a very bad eye poke from Miocic on Cormier — that allegedly rendered the former champion blind on his left eye — the champion was able to drop “DC” and hurt him on a number of occasions before that as well.

In the end, he did enough to earn the win on all three scorecards.
