Only Mike Perry would have a random Reddit user in their corner for a fight.

Back in October, Mike Perry announced via social media that he was going to be auctioning off a spot in his corner for his bout against Tim Means at UFC 255. The unique experience was available to the highest bidder, unless you are named Darren Till. Till sensationally announced that he wanted to bid for the vacant seat amongst Perry’s team. In typical trolling fashion, he even went so far as to set up a Go Fund Me page. Of course, this dream team of Till and Perry sadly didn’t come to fruition.

One reason was that Dana White said Perry wasn’t allowed to sell the spot. The second reason was that Perry hates Till. Hard to blame “Platinum” seeing as Till threatened online to “raw dog” Perry’s girlfriend back in May. A rivalry between the two has continued to brew online since. Amazingly, the term “raw dog” has proved tremendously popular online. So popular that Till has even opened an online merchandise store under the same name.

“Platinum” does what he wants. As, despite being denied by White, Perry did end up giving away the spot in his corner. The lucky winner was a Reddit MMA member by the name of bsWINcups. The once in a lifetime experience was captured on behind-the-scenes footage by the Reddit user. However, Perry went on to lose the fight to Tim Means via unanimous decision. Despite this most recent loss, White seems relatively unfazed by the unprofessional weight-cut and recent controversies surrounding his divisive fighter.

With plenty of merch in hand and lots of pictures of himself posed beside such UFC champions as Deiveson Figueiredo and Valentina Shevchenko, it’s safe to say the Reddit user had a memorable time. I’m very surprsed the UFC allowed the experience to go ahead, considering Dana was quite explicit with his denouncement. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if this act of giving away of spots in a fighter’s corner becomes a trend.

Do you like Mike Perry’s theatrics? Which fighter would you most like to be in the corner of?

Deiveson Figueiredo On Brandon Moreno: I’m Going To Destroy Him

Ahead of their verbally agreed UFC 256 meeting on December 12 – flyweight champion, Deiveson ‘Deus Da Garra’ Figueiredo, and challenger, Brandon ‘The Assassin Baby’ Moreno, seem to share quite a personal rivalry, with the Brazilian titleholder claiming he’s going to “destroy” the number-one contender in less than twenty days.

Headlining UFC 255 on Saturday at the UFC Apex, Figueiredo managed to score a highlight-reel first-round guillotine over short-notice challenger, Alex Perez, lodging his first successful flyweight title defence.

Taking featured preliminary headlining status, number-one contender, Moreno retained his status as incoming title challenger when pitted with streaking up and comer, Brandon Royval – finishing the Marc Montoya trainee with a flurry of ground strikes, after the latter had suffered a nasty dislocation of his right shoulder, which was later relocated by his coach in the Octagon

In stunning fashion, UFC president Dana White revealed to media how the promotion was planning on keeping Figueiredo in the United States rather than allowing him to return to his native Brazil, in the hopes to book him opposite, Moreno just twenty-one days later.

With the pair verbally agreeing to meet on December 12, the UFC 256 card seems to have regained at least one title matchup, following the ultimate postponement of the scheduled bantamweight clash of reigning gold holder, Petr ‘No Mercy’ Yan, and standout contender, Aljamain ‘Funk Master’ Sterling.

Speaking with media following his stunning submission success against Perez, Figueiredo detailed how he plans to “destroy” the 26-year-old Tijuana born finisher.

I think I’m going to destroy him (Brandon Moreno),” Figueiredo said. “If I touch him, I’m going to break him. Just touching him. Because Brandon Moreno talk (sic) a lot of bad things about me. I have a personal problem with Brandon Moreno. I think I’m going to destroy Brandon Moreno in December. But I want the boss to show the desire to see this fight.”

Figueiredo, who had the opportunity to claim vacant flyweight title spoils at UFC Fight Night Norfolk in February, seen that chance pass by after he tipped the scales at 127.5-pounds – and ahead of a quick turnaround next month, claims Moreno will feel the same pressure as him to make adequate championship weight in such short notice.

The pressure I’m going to have to get the weight, he’s going to have [as well],” Figueiredo explained. “We’re in the same spot, It’s a war for both sides. If I have pressure, he’s going to have pressure.” (H/T MMA Fighting)

Mike Perry Makes UFC 255 Walk To Beyonce’s ‘Halo’ By Mistake

Controversial UFC welterweight striker, ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry looked as shocked as us viewers ahead of his UFC 255 pairing with Tim ‘The Dirty Bird’ Means as he was summoned to the Octagon, with Beyonce’s ‘Halo’ playing him in.

Perry has been in the headlines recently after his ex-wife, Danielle Nickerson, alleged the Michigan native had domestically abused her on multiple occasions during their five-year relationship.

In a miscued weight-cut before the UFC 255 weigh-ins on Friday, Perry tipped the welterweight scales at 175.5-pounds – dabbing on the scales afterwards, before forfeiting 30% of his purse to eventual victor, Means.

The brash striker had posted videos on his social media in the days leading up to the fight of him enjoying pizza and a burger, and in the hours before his weigh-in, took to his official Twitter where he informed his followers that he wasn’t confident of making the welterweight limit for his pairing with Albuquerque native, Means.

Originally scheduled to compete opposite former welterweight champion, ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler, Perry clashed with Means on short-notice, and cornered by his pregnant girlfriend, Latory Gonzalez – dropped a unanimous decision defeat to a highly technical Means who scored an impressive one-hundred and forty-three total strikes over the three-round affair.

Drawing attention on social media even before stepping foot inside the Octagon, Perry made the walk to ‘Halo’ by twenty-one time Grammy victor, Beyonce, and notably sang along all the way into the Octagon, even saving the chorus for opponent Means when standing opposite him – after questioning his corner, is this ‘Halo’? on his way to the inspection zone.

The unanimous judging loss to Means
snapped any hopes for a two-fight win streak for Perry who had taken home a unanimous decision win over Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu player, Mickey Gall at UFC Vegas 4 in June.

Dropping to 14-7 overall with the defeat, Perry also saw his Octagon record slip to an even 7-7. Scoring wins over Hyun Gyu Lim, Danny Roberts, Jake Ellenberger, Alex Reyes, Paul Felder, Alex Oliveira, and the above-mentioned Gall, the 29-year-old Flint native has suffered defeats against Alan Jouban, Santiago Ponzinibbio, Max Griffin, Donald Cerrone, Vicente Luque, Geoff Neal, and now Means.

Dana White Backs Mike Perry: ‘He’s Fun To Watch’

Mike Perry PitchesUFC President Dana White calls UFC welterweight Mike Perry “fun to watch”, despite recent controversies, such as domestic abuse claims.

Mike Perry Pitches

Mike Perry may have lost on Saturday against Tim Means at UFC 255 after massively missing weight, but the UFC President Dana White is still a fan of the controversial fighter.

Perry revealed his masterplan to lose 20 pounds in a matter of days, which isn’t unheard of in the sport. However, binging on junk food the week of the fight raised more than a few eyebrows. Of course, “Platinum” didn’t make weight and ended up tipping the scales at 5 pounds over the welterweight limit. Whilst this did cost him 30% of his purse, Perry seemed unfazed as he danced and told the officials “Oh baby, we not even close.” The man even dabbed.

Tim Means meant business, however. Jabbing his way to victory, Means sealed a unanimous decision by completely out-classing “Platinum” on the feet. This latest loss means Perry has lost three of his last four bouts. With a record now of 4-6 in his last 10 outings and 7-7 overall under the bright lights of the Octagon, Perry’s fighting record hasn’t been his only concern in recent months.

The charismatic 29-year-old was recently caught on camera letting his hands fly towards an older gentleman at a restaurant in Lubbock, Texas. Additionally, his ex-wife accused him of some very serious domestic abuse allegations. So, could all of these countless controversies be enough to put the UFC brass off of Perry? Apparently not. (H/T MMAMania.com)

“He’s always tough and fun to watch,” Dana White told the media post-UFC 255. “What I really like about Mike Perry … he tried to win that fight. He’s fun to watch. I dunno what it means or where he goes after (UFC 255) but he’s a fun fighter.”

Looks like Dana White and co. aren’t exactly annoyed by Perry’s antics, and it shouldn’t come as a surprise. With controversial fighters like Greg Hardy still on the roster, as long as Perry is giving it his all in the fights and continues to draw in eyes then I don’t see him going anywhere. Although, he does need a victory as soon as possible to legitimise his place in the organisation’s roster. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll finally get to see Mike Perry against Darren Till.

Who should Mike Perry fight next? Or, do you think he should be cut?

Rua

Mauricio Rua is considering his future in mixed martial arts.

Rua suffered his first defeat since July 2018 when he tapped to strikes against Paul Craig in their rematch at UFC 255 last night.

Despite a previous record of one defeat in his previous seven outings, “Shogun” had considerably slowed down and looked old in his recent fights and that was even more so evident against Craig.

UFC president Dana White called for him to retire shortly after the event and that appears to be something Rua is considering — even though he revealed he injured his elbow during the fight with Craig.

“Unfortunately things didn’t go out the way I would have liked last night, and this is a part of our sport. I suffered an injury to my elbow on the first time I was taken down, but this serves as no excuse, as it is part of fighting and it doesn’t take way any merits from my opponent. An athletes’ career is not only made of glory and thank God I was already blessed many times with the reward of victory, due to a lot of sacrifices and effort, that only those who live our everyday routine really knows what we go through.

“I want to thank all the amazing support from you guys, as always. I’m blessed for being able to do this for 18 years already, and here in 2020 you guys are the great motivation I carry with me, and that it makes me continue this far. Now I’m going to rest with my family, and think about my career. I know that my mission in this sport goes way beyond the octagon as well. Thanks a lot guys ??.”

The 38-year-old has been competing in mixed martial arts since 2002 in a career that saw him become the PRIDE and UFC light heavyweight champion.

If he does decide to call it a day, Rua will undoubtedly go down as one of the true legends of the sport with nothing further to prove.

Do you think Rua should hang up his gloves?
