Greg Hardy, ex-NFL elitist turned mixed martial arts prospect, is fighting Tai Tuivasa at UFC 264 this Saturday.

Since joining the UFC in 2019, he has amassed a record of 4-3-1, a record filled with controversies and storylines.

As normally accustomed, the UFC held a media day ahead of this momentous pay-per-view event and Hardy did not hold back when sharing his feelings about incoming interim heavyweight title challenger Derrick Lewis.

Hardy was asked who he believed would win this highly anticipated interim title match between Lewis and Ciryl Gane and Hardy’s answer was staunch and to the point, touting Lewis as “fat” and predicting Gane will win.

While talking to MMA Junkie, Hardy said, “I can’t support fat. I can’t do it. He’s gelatinous. He’s lazy. I can’t root for him. He’s a great fighter but I refuse to do it. Plus, he talks too much trash about me.”

The latter part of his statement stems from a comment Lewis made in 2018 when asked if he would fight Hardy, candidly and openly responding affirmatively due to Hardy’s checkered past with domestic violence.

He went on to say, “He ran his mouth. Say my name and I’m coming for you. The boss is going to send me. That’s a guy that wasn’t mentioned but decided to grace his fat, Popeyes, greasy chicken lips with my name when I was a peasant, when I was a young child. What it would look like for me to go attack somebody that just came off the Contender Series right now? You’d be like, ‘Oh, he’s childish.’ But you guys let that man gyrate and beat little me? Nah, he needs to be handled.”

Former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor is oozing with confidence ahead of his highly-anticipated trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 this weekend in Las Vegas.

McGregor has had a history of rebounding from tough losses, ala the second Nate Diaz fight and his first fight back against Donald Cerrone following his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov. At UFC 257 earlier this year, McGregor suffered a shocking knockout loss to Poirier during the UFC’s run of events in Abu Dhabi on Fight Island.

“He talks some amount lately which he will pay for; it’s not going to be nice,” McGregor said to Rolling Stone. “I’m going through my opponent on July 10th… I’m going to knock him out. Without question. I’m the most dangerous I’ve ever been, I’m the most focused I’ve ever been. And I’m going to take him out. He won’t have any way to deal with what I’m bringing on Saturday, and that’s it.”

“After I steamroll my opponent, I’ll decide what I want next.”

McGregor and Poirier have been going at it since their last bout, and have been exchanging words on social media and in the press through various interviews. The buildup to their second fight was relatively respectful and positive between the two sides but that seems to have fizzled out in recent weeks and months.

UFC president Dana White has said on multiple occasions that the winner of Poirier vs. McGregor 3 will be the next title challenger to lightweight champion Charles Oliveira’s belt. Poirier was expected to fight for the title next following his last knockout of McGregor, but he opted for the trilogy bout instead of an immediate title shot.

Oliveira is expected to attend the fight along with a full-capacity crowd at T-Mobile Arena. The event is the promotion’s fourth full-capacity pay-per-view since the reopening of states following the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns.

Heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury has weighed in on the McGregor-Poirier trilogy fight ahead of UFC 264.

‘The Gypsy King’ caught up with the UFC media team at the Performance Institute, where he gave his prediction for the upcoming bout. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Fury is backing Conor McGregor leading into the bout (h/t MMA Junkie).

“My prediction for the McGregor-Poirier fight is that I think McGregor will win this time,” Fury said. “I think he’s trained hard, and he’s got it all to prove. It will be a great event and one to watch. Tune in.”

McGregor and Dustin Poirier enter the trilogy match tied at one win a piece. ‘The Notorious’ McGregor stuck first blood, knocking out Poirier in the first round at UFC 178 in 2014. ‘The Diamond’ would of course get his revenge earlier this year, stopping McGregor in the second round at UFC 257 in January.

Two weeks after Poirier and McGregor finish their trilogy, Fury will look to walk out victorious in a trilogy bout of his own. the Ring and WBC world heavyweight titles will be on the line when Fury meets Deontay Wilder for the third time on July 24. Fury knocked out Wilder in their last meeting in February of 2020 after the pair fought to a split-decision in December 2018.

Though he already has his next opponent scheduled, that hasn’t stopped Fury from looking into the future. Recently, he’s been clamoring for a fight against UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. He’s even gone so far as to say that he’s willing to meet ‘The Predator’ in the cage, with special “punching only” rules in place.

It’s unknown if the UFC or even any commission would allow such a thing to take place, put it would undoubtedly be a massive draw for all parties involved.

Do you agree with Tyson Fury that Conor McGregor will be victorious at UFC 264? Let us know!
