Former undisputed UFC flyweight champion, Brandon Moreno, very likely sets himself up for a fourth title showdown with Deiveson Figueiredo — this time in a title unification bout, as he scoops interim spoils courtesy of a third round TKO win over Kai Kara-France in their UFC 277 co-headlining rematch.

Moreno, who entered tonight’s interim title rematch against Kara-France with the prior knowledge of a unanimous decision win over the Kiwi back in December of 2019, found himself dealing with a sizeable and significant cut under this right eye in the second frame, after a hugely competitive opening five minutes from the 125lb duo.

However, midway through the third round, clarity was firmly introduced to the fray, with Moreno slapping home a left body kick — digging into Kara-France’s liver it appears, as the City Kickboxing staple collapsed to the canvas, where he was finished with subsequent ground strikes.

The fifth-ranked contender at heavyweight Lewis returned to action against the top fifteen ranked division contender Pavlovich on the main card at UFC 277 on July 30 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Lewis and Pavlovich kicked things off to a fiery start, brawling it out with crisp boxing. Pavlovich connected with a nice right early in the opening round that wobbled Lewis and caused the referee to call a stop to the contest although Lewis got right back up.

Likely landing himself his premier tilt at promotional flyweight gold, Brazilian contender, Alexandre Pantoja makes light work of the returning former title challenger, Alex Perez — landing a first round rear-naked choke win on the main card of UFC 277 in Dallas, Texas.

Pantoja, who entered tonight’s likely title-eliminator with Perez off the back of a hot streak, started brightly against the Lemoore native, landing a series of heavy strikes in the pocket early and often.

During a notable first round scramble, Pantoja managed to scale the back of Perez, locked up a body triangle, and fight the hands to land a rear-naked choke triumph.

Anthony Smith seemed to suffer a leg injury in his bout with Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 277.

The fourth-ranked contender at light heavyweight Ankalaev returned to action against the top five ranked division contender Smith on the main card at UFC 277 on July 30 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Both men took a cautious approach to the bout, staying composed and measured trying to exchange strikes in the stand-up. Smith complained about his ankle after the first round.

Ankalaev landed a flurry of punches to finish Smith in the second round. Smith did not immediately get up after the referee called off the fight and claimed that he broke his leg during the outing.
