Former NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco wants to test himself against Max Holloway.

‘Blessed’ has been the talk of the town ever since his epic buzzer-beating knockout of Justin Gaethje to capture the BMF title at UFC 300 on Saturday night.

Max Holloway KOs Gaethje

During a recent episode of his Night Cap podcast with Shannon Sharpe, Ochocinco — real name Chad Johnson — asked his co-host, “If I was to fight Max, when you think he would beat me in the Octagon?

Sharpe immediately responded suggesting it would take Holloway no more than 30 seconds to put Ochocinco to sleep.

“Max Holloway, if you see this… If you have any time during your break before your next fight, let’s spar,” Ochocinco said. “Let’s get some footage. I just want to show Uncle Sharpe that I ain’t with the bullsh*t. Congratulations, but please.”

When Sharpe tried to explain that there are levels to the game of MMA, like any sport, Ochocinco doubled down on his challenge to the former featherweight champion.

“Man, I’ll thump Max Holloway’s chin,” Ochocinco added. “Don’t be playin’ me like that. I’m out the city. What you talking about? I’m built for that.

During his decade-long career in the NFL, Ochocinco was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and is a member of the elite 10,000 Receiving Yards Club. In 2021, he competed on the Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul undercard, going the distance in a four-round exhibition boxing match with Brian Maxwell.

Max Holloway Responds to ilia topuria’s ‘back of the line’ comment

After scoring one of the wildest knockouts in UFC history, Max Holloway is primed for a shot at newly minted featherweight titleholder, Ilia Topuria. After seeing ‘Blessed’ turn ‘The Highlight’ into a highlight, Topuria told ESPN Deportes:

It’s clear for me, my next fight is against Max Holloway. Congratulations and enjoy tonight, but after fighting me he will have to go back in the line.”

Getting wind of Topuria’s comment, Holloway offered his response during an appearance at the UFC 300 post-fight press conference.

“That’s cool,” Holloway said at the evening’s post-fight presser when told of Topuria’s response. “What am I going to say? What if he goes to the back of the line? So at the end of the day, we find out. Like I said, we’ve got questions. We’re in the fighting game. Ilia can talk, but I’ve got a lot of questions. I like listening and if that ever gets booked, you guys are going to see a lot of answers. So I’m excited for it.”

Charles Oliveira addresses loss to Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300 It wasn't meant to be

Former undisputed lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira has spoken for the first time since his close, split decision loss to surging contender, Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300 over the course of the weekend, vowing to come back stronger to the Octagon, claiming he had opportunities to both submit and knock out the Armenian.

Oliveira, the promotion’s most prolific finisher, made his return to the Octagon on the main card of UFC 300 over the course of the weekend, suffering a close, debated split judging (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) loss to the above-mentioned, Tsarukyan – in a toss up bout according to many fans and pundits.

Likely losing his slot atop the lightweight rankings as the number one contender, Sao Paulo finishing favorite, Charles Oliveira almost wrapped up an opening round arm-in guillotine choke on Tsarukyan – with the wily contender fighting his way out to break the grip.

However, according to decorated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach, Rener Gracie, Tsarukyan’s choice to sport a loose fitting Muay Thai style fight kit to the event aided in his escape from the position, with the kit actually sliding down his legs as Oliveira attempted to lock in a guillotine.

Sliced in the second round due a series of elbows from Tsarukyan after a continued period of crushing top pressure, Oliveira almost once again forced the issue with less than a minute remaining in the final round.

Managing to scramble from the bottom, Oliveira locked in a taut D’Arce choke on Tsarukyan, who managed to belly out and survive to the buzzer to land himself a close split decision victory over the Brazilian.

And sharing his thoughts on the loss, Oliveira, a former undisputed lightweight champion admitted that it just wasn’t meant to be for him against the Armenian contender in their official title-eliminator.

“Passing by to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart,” Charles Oliveira said on his official social media, as translated from Portuguese to English via EzDubs.ai. “Today was a tough fight. I had the opportunity to submit and even knock out and I ended up not meeting [either]. I’m fine, I took a few dots in my my eyes, I’m a little swollen, but I’ve also cried, that’s part of it. It won’t change, just go back home, devoting myself to training and staying near my family.”

“And I hope you continue cheering and vibrating with what I’m experiencing here,” Charles Oliveira continued. “Thank you. A big thank you from the bottom of my heart. What can I promise? I’ll come back stronger. That’s it, it’s the game, there’s not much to do. I had a wonderful field, I had a wonderful week here with my weight loss, but today wasn’t the day, it wasn’t meant to be.”

Off the back of his victory over Oliveira, Tsarukyan is expected to fight for lightweight spoils next, however, must first lay in wait as Islam Makhachev defends his championship in a clash against former interim gold holder, Dustin Poirier at the beginning of June in a UFC 302 headlining clash.

Ilia Topuria vows to be the first to KO Max Holloway I will take your lights out UFC 300

Ilia Topuria believes he will be the first person to KO Max Holloway in a potential fight.

Holloway scored a highlight-reel knockout win over Justin Gaethje to win the BMF title at UFC 300. It was a great performance from the Hawaiian who was the underdog and many were counting out. However, Holloway proved the doubters wrong and now could return to featherweight to face Ilia Topuria for the belt.

If that fight does happen next, Topuria is confident he won’t just win but will be the first person to KO Holloway.

“Congrats on your performance Max . Respect your story and everything you achieved with a beautiful family . Hopefully we gonna share the octagon before the end of the year and trust me you gonna feel something that you never felt before . I will be the first one to take your lights out . Philippians 4:13,” Topruia wrote.

After Holloway’s performance at UFC 300, fans are now excited for his potential fight against Topuria. Whether or not Holloway will get the next title shot is uncertain, however.

Ilia Topuria Calls Max Holloway’s Win ‘Nothing Special’

Although Max Holloway scored a highlight-reel KO win over Justin Gaethje, Ilia Topuria was not impressed by his performance.

Instead, Topruia thinks it was nothing special and the performance only made the featherweight champ more confident in a potential bout.

“Well, it was good. Nothing special to be honest,” Topuria said to ESPN Deportes’ Carlos Contreras Legaspi (h/t MMAFighting). “The ending was only an exchange of punches without any strategy. Both just throwing punches. Zero defense, hands down, and that kind of things can happen but that is something that would never happen with me because I think inside the octagon.

“[Holloway] was talking a lot during the week. It’s normal. It is what he has to do. He needs to believe he is the best. There is no other way in this sport. But the results are clear. I did in nine minutes [to Volkanosvki] what he was not able to do in 90 minutes. So, he can say whatever he wants, enjoy now, and get ready for what’s coming. He can do whatever he wants. He won’t be able to change that.”

Rener Gracie reveals loose fight kit helped Arman Tsarukyan avoid guillotine by Charles Oliviera at UFC 300

Rener Gracie, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt gave a video breakdown of how Arman Tsarukyan did not tap to either of Charles Oliveira’s submission attempts at UFC 300.

In the first round, Oliveira had a guillotine attempt in tight but Tsarukyan was able to somehow escape. Then, at the end of the third round, Charles Oliveira had Arman Tsarukyan in another choke attempt, but the bell rang as Tsarukyan had good defense to not tap.

Following UFC 300, Gracie took to social media to break down how Tsarukyan didn’t tap to either attempt.

It was interesting from Gracie to hear how Tsarukyan was able to defend the attempts, as he says the loose shorts of Tsarukyan helped him get out of the guillotine.

“Number one is you can go full body triangle. If you body triangle, and you extend the hips, you’re not gonna slide past their hip bones, and you don’t have to worry about loose shorts or tight shorts. You’re good to go.”

By not tapping, Tsarukyan edged out a split decision win over Charles Oliveira to become the No. 1 title contender at lightweight.

Arman Tsarukyan vows to KO Islam Makhachev in a rematch

By defeating Charles Oliveira at UFC 300, Arman Tsarukyan became the No. 1 contender at lightweight and should face the winner of Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirier.

Tsarukyan’s UFC debut was against Makhachev, which he lost by decision. However, he has confidence he has improved greatly from then and plans to KO the champ.

“My skills, I am getting better every day, I feel it. Every camp I get better. So I feel this camp was better than the last one, and the previous one and I’m going up. I don’t know what I’m going to be in three or four years, going to be like unstoppable fighter… With Islam, a rematch, I’m going to win,” Tsarukyan said after UFC 300 (via MMAJunkie). “Doesn’t matter how. I just need to win that fight because I want to be a champion. The best-case scenario is knock him out.”

Surging contender, Magomed Ankalaev appeared less than impressed by incumbent light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira’s one-sided win over Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 over the weekend, calling for his own title chase with the Brazilian at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi later this year.

Pereira, a former undisputed middleweight titleholder, and the current light heavyweight champion, turned in his first successful defense of the 205 pound crown over the weekend at UFC 300 – landing a devastating first round KO win over the above-mentioned, Hill in their pair’s main event grudge fight.

As for Ankalaev, the one-time vacant title challenger has been sidelined since he rematched Johnny Walker in January, turning in his own second round KO win to earn himself a Performance of the Night bonus.

And staking his claim for a stunning return to the Octagon in just three weeks time at UFC 301 in his native Brazil after emerging relatively unscathed from his title fight with Hill, Alex Pereira suggested a heavyweight move, and in turn, an interim championship clash against Tom Aspinall

However, receiving his own call out after his blistering UFC 300 win, Pereira has been challenged to an October return at the Etihad Arena in the Middle East by the above-mentioned, Ankalaev, who vowed to KO the fan-favorite at UFC 308.

Magomed Ankalaev

“@AlexPereiraUFC vs. me [in] Abu Dhabi,” Magomed Ankalaev posted on his official X account.

“@AlexPereiraUFC congratulation (sic),” Magomed Ankalaev continued. “I will stop [you] in the first round by knockout. @danawhite @mickmaynard2 the man doesn’t have a chin.”

With his victory over Hill at UFC 300, Pereira turned in his third successive victory at the light heavyweight limit since his move last summer, having taken out Jan Blachowicz with a decision win, which came before a knockout of Jiri Prochazka to win vacant divisional gold.

Dana White eyes Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes fight after UFC 300 debut it would be fun

After witnessing Kayla Harrison’s domination at UFC 300, Dana White was very excited about the idea of her facing a UFC legend like Amanda Nunes.

Nunes was even paying close attention to the Harrison and Holly Holm fight, much to the pleasure of White. Nunes posted a video of her reacting to Harrison’s performance on her social media accounts, and it could be perceived as a good indication that she may be the next opponent for Kayla Harrison.

Nunes stepped away from the game in June of 2023 after a win over Irene Aldana at UFC 289. At the time, she was widely regarded as the greatest Women’s combat sports athlete of all time and is still largely held in the same esteem today. Upon stepping away from the game, she had a recently born child, and it made sense that she’d be taking her leave. She did, however, also leave the door open for another fight or two in the future.

Dana White Speaks on the potential for an Amanda Nunes vs. Kayla Harrison fight

At the UFC 300 post-fight press conference, Dana White was very honest about his feelings. When asked if he saw Nunes’ reaction on social media, he replied in the affirmative.

Kayla Harrison UFC 300

“I did, I like it,” White told media members (H/T MMA Junkie). “I thought she retired too soon anyway. I like that she’s intrigued by this fight. I love it.”

“I love Amanda,” Dana White continued. Amanda and I have an incredible relationship. I think that she’s the GOAT in all combat sports female. So if Kayla can go in there and win a title, it would absolutely be fun to see her come back and try to grab it.”

The two fighters were actually former training partners, once upon a time. Both Women trained at American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida, but eventually Nunes left the gym towards the end of her career.

Amanda Nunes claims next champion will be "fake forever" following UFC 289 win retirement

“Let me tell you what, so going in against a legend like Holly, who’s got tons of time in the octagon, I don’t care what level Kayla Harrison has competed at, I guarantee you she had some serious jitters tonight,” White said. “She came in there and performed, and she literally put it to an absolute legend of all of combat sports. Obviously, a big night for her and a big win.”
