Striking the former middleweight gold holder low during an exchange at the fence, Hill saw an immediate resumption in the action after Pereira refused a timeout from referee, Herb Dean, before springing with a massive left shovel hook, knocking the Illinois native to the canvas before ground strikes forced the issue.

And already booked to make his comeback to the Octagon off the back of his knockout defeat just a week ago, Hill, the first product of Dana White’s Contender Series to win promotional spoils, is set to fight Khalil Rountree at UFC 303 at the end of June during International Fight Week.

Vowing to rematch Pereira in the near future – and knock out the former two-division champion, Hill has also denied he unintentionally struck the Brazilian with a low blow strike before the stoppage, claiming he instead landed his round kick on his opponent’s hip.

“I’ve seen some of the controversy,” Jamahal Hill said in a video posted on his official YouTube channel. “People speaking on the stoppage and things like that with Herb (Dean), after I kicked Alex (Pereira) in the hip – and it appeared to be a low blow.

Dana White reaches a new level of pettiness with MMA media hit piece following UFC 300

Dana White has taken his disdain for the MMA media to a new level of pettiness.

On the heels of the biggest event in promotional history, UFC 300, the outspoken CEO put together a video featuring some of the more memorable moments from the landmark event in Las Vegas — but not before using it as an opportunity to once again slam combat sports journalists and podcasters.

“As we rolled into UFC 300, the MMA ‘experts’ weighed in on what they thought of UFC 300, and for all the fighters who were are this card, when I said that it was the greatest card ever assembled in the history of combat sports, this is what the media thought of you guys,” White said in a video on X.

From there, the video shifts to a highlight reel of MMA pundits who openly disparaged the UFC 300 matchmaking on their respective platforms. Those personalities include former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub, Jesse Merl, renowned MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, Eric Jackman, Petesy Carroll, Brian Campbell, Rudy Rodriguez-Chomat, ex-UFC referee ‘Big’ John McCarthy, AJ DeVito, and Lucas Tracy.

Dana White Overpromised, but still delivered

With UFC 300 now in the rear-view mirror, everyone can agree that the card delivered some of the most memorable moments in MMA history. Max Holloway’s buzzer-beating knockout of Justin Gaethje and Alex Pereira’s first-round finish of Jamahal Hill moments after telling Herb Dean to back away will undoubtedly stand the test of time.

But before the biggest card of all time went down in T-Mobile Arena, many fight fans were upset over the company failing to deliver the marquee matchup that White had vehemently promised months prior.

“You guys can’t even handle the main event,” White said during an Instagram Live in January. “We’re working on a couple of different options. Trust me, the UFC 300 main event is going to be crazy.”

To be fair, most fans were aiming a little too high, hoping to see former stars like Ronda Rousey, Georges St-Pierre, Brock Lesnar, or Khabib Nurmagomedov make their returns to the Octagon. Still, Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill was far from the “crazy” headliner White touted which resulted in the pre-event backlash.

In the end, Dana White did not deliver on his main event promise, but he still delivered an event that will go down in the annals of MMA history, receiving critical acclaim from even the most jaded of pundits.

Aljamain Sterling dubs his bland performance against Calvin Kattar 'the most dominant fight' at UFC 300

Aljamain Sterling delivered one of the most dominant performances of UFC 300. Unfortunately, it was also one of the least exciting — so much so that the ‘Funk Master’ was the only fighter on the night who didn’t get a post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

After surrendering his bantamweight title to ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley in August, Sterling made his move to featherweight official at the landmark event, squaring off with the returning Calvin Kattar who had been on the shelf since blowing out his knee in October 2022. Determined to make a statement in his divisional debut, many expected Sterling to snuff out a highlight-reel-worthy win, especially with a $300,000 performance bonus up for grabs.

But instead, Aljamain Sterling was content to smother Kattar for three rounds, utilizing his superior wrestling skills to keep the five-time Fight of the Night winner grounded and score an uninspired unanimous decision.

Aljamain Sterling

MMA fans inside T-Mobile Arena and those posting from around the world on X made it quite clear how unimpressed they were with the performance — something the ‘Funk Master’ was quick to defend, calling his victory at UFC 300 the most dominant of the night.

“Our fight on that particular night of UFC 300 was not the most entertaining,” Sterling said on his YouTube channel. “But it was the most dominant fight I think you could’ve possibly looked at from the entire card from top to bottom. I think I’m arguably the top 3 most dominant on that entire fight card from top to bottom.

“I think I’m arguably the top three most dominant on that entire fight card. So when you look at that, I think to keep it in perspective is, you got a guy [Kattar] who, on average, lands about 4-5 strikes per minute, who was reduced to about 0.5. over 15 minutes.”

Aljamain Sterling

Aljamain Sterling’s performance didn’t exactly set the world on fire, but it landed him inside the featherweight division’s top 10, taking the No. 8 spot.

Aljamain Sterling calls for a clash with T-City

Following his success at UFC 300, ‘Funk Master’ called for a clash with 145-pound mainstay and No. 3 ranked contender, Brian Ortega.

“Give me the next best guy,” Sterling said at the post-fight press conference. “I’ll take Brian Ortega, respectfully. He’s a guy I got to train with one time, same management, there’s no bad blood or anything like that. We’re both just trying to chase the same thing. It’s not like he’s my main training partner like Merab [Dvalishvili] was. It’s a different situation. I think I beat a guy like him, and I’m undeniable.”

T-City is coming off a third-round submission victory over former interim champion Yair Rodriguez in February.

Jamahal Hill vows to stop Alex Pereira in future rematch

And plotting a re-run against the former two-division GLORY Kickboxing champion – beginning with his return against Rountree at UFC 303 in the summer, Hill claimed he would knock out Pereira if they fought once more.

“I’m already back in the gym with a contact (sic) signed!” Jamahal Hill replied to a social media user. “He (Alex Pereira) definitely gotta face ma again and I will put him to sleep.”

As for Pereira, the former middleweight kingpin had plotted his own hasty return at UFC 301 in just two weeks time in his native Brazil, however, a fractured toe suffered against Hill has forced him out of a stunning comeback
