Long before making his UFC debut Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson made a name for himself in Japan’s premiere fight promotion, PRIDE FC.

During his time in The Land of the Rising Sun, Jackson walked through some of the biggest names in combat sports history, including Kazushi Sakuraba, Kevin Randleman, and Chuck Liddell. However, one man always seemed to have his number. ‘The Axe Murderer’ Wanderlei Silva. Between 2003 and 2004, ‘Rampage’ suffered back-to-back knockouts against Silva before the pair faced off for the first and only time inside the Octagon.

On that night, ‘Rampage’ finally broke through, scoring a first-round knockout against Silva in spectacular fashion. Looking back on the fight during his appearance on JAXXON Podcasts’ Fade on Site, the former light heavyweight world champion revealed that Dana White’s tardiness to a meeting led to a chance encounter with ‘The Axe Murderer’ that ultimately sealed Silva’s fate at UFC 92.

“One of the main reasons why Wanderlei got his a** beat so bad that time in the UFC, is after the weigh-ins, Dana wanted us to go and like, have this fighter meeting,” Jackson explained. “And we starving and everything, and we gotta wait on f*cking Dana White… We ready to go eat, like some people don’t eat. You know how it is when you cut weight… I just wanna hydrate and eat, right? And we gotta wait on Dana White.

“Wanderlei comes up to me while I’m f*cking p*ssed off, ‘I know you remember my knee…I know you remember hanging on the ropes.’ And I was like ‘Oh, this motherf*cker. I might lose my foot in his a** tomorrow.’”

Rampage’ and Wanderlei Silva would meet one more time in their respective careers under the Bellator MMA banner in 2018. Jackson would walk away with the win once again, this time via a second-round TKO.

One of the most brutal rivalries in MMA history may have a fourth chapter between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Wanderlei Silva.

The two have fought three times before, twice in PRIDE FC, with Silva winning both of those bouts by knockout. However, “Rampage” got his revenge under the UFC banner, scoring a first-round knockout over Silva back at UFC 92.

Now, with both men under Bellator contract, Scott Coker is looking to put together a fourth fight between the two MMA legends (via MMA Fighting):

“That’s something that we’re talking to ‘Rampage’ about and talking to Wanderlei about. I would love to make that fight before the end of the year.

“We are working on the possibility of executing that fight down there.”

For his part, ”Rampage” is all for another fight with his old rival. Speaking to the press in February, Jackson made it clear as day that he would gladly accept another fight against “The Axe Murderer” should the opportunity present itself:

“I owe Wanderlei another ass whooping, I’ll tell you that. I know he’s not a heavyweight. The last time I fought him I knocked him out of the weight class. But he beat me twice. I only beat him once. I think I owe him another ass whooping.”

Coker says if the fight happens, it will likely occur at Bellator’s first-ever foray into the Brazilian MMA market. Under Coker’s presidency, Bellator has rapidly expanded into new territories like Israel and Italy. It’s only a matter of time before the Paramount-backed promotion makes its debut in Brazil, which has always been a hotbed of MMA talent.

”Rampage” currently fights between light heavyweight and heavyweight, most recently losing to Chael Sonnen in the first round of Bellator’s Heavyweight Grand Prix. Jackson has competed at heavyweight before, defeating Satoshi Ishii in 2016.

Silva has mostly fought at middleweight and catchweight bouts since dropping down from light heavyweight.

Who do you see emerging victorious between the two MMA legends in 2018 if they eventually meet under the Bellator banner?

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) always likes to end their year with a bang. It seems like every year-ending pay-per-view (PPV) put on by the world leader in mixed martial arts (MMA) is stacked. So much so that you’ll have to go back to UFC 141 in 2011 to find the last UFC PPV that ended the year without a title fight.

The final UFC event of 2016 will keep the streak going unless a last minute incident ruins those plans. Current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes will defend her title for the first time against former 135-pound queen Ronda Rousey. It’ll be the fifth straight year-ending UFC PPV to close with a title bout.

LowKickMMA.com has a list of the top five UFC PPVs that ended the year in exciting fashion.

Let’s hop into it.

5. UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor

The final PPV card of 2015 had a ton of hype surrounding it. UFC 194 was headlined by a featherweight title bout between champion Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor. The two were initially set to meet at UFC 189, but Aldo pulled out with an injury. “Notorious” knocked out Chad Mendes on the PPV to capture the interim 145-pound title.

McGregor blasted Aldo countless times going into the fight, even going as far as saying, “I love you like my bitch.” In one of the most shocking title finishes in the history of the sport, McGregor slept Aldo in just 13 seconds with a left punch.

The co-main event featured a middleweight title bout between champion Chris Weidman and Luke Rockhold. Weidman had successfully defended his title against Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida, and Vitor Belfort. Rockhold earned his shot by winning four straight bouts.

Weidman’s fate was all but sealed in the third round when he threw a sloppy wheel kick that allowed Rockhold to take him to the ground. The champion had no answer for Rockhold’s ground assault and Weidman was a bloody mess at the end of the round. The challenger picked up where he left off in the fourth round and finished Weidman to become the new 185-pound kingpin.

Here are the rest of the results:

Yoel Romero def. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza via split decision (29-27, 28-29, 29-28)

Demian Maia def. Gunnar Nelson via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-25, 30-25)

Max Holloway def. Jeremy Stephens via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
