The UFC Boston poster has officially been revealed.

The Las Vegas-based promotion returns to Boston on October 18 and the event will be headlined by a light heavyweight fight between Chris Weidman and Dominick Reyes.

Weidman will be making his light heavyweight debut after suffering three knockout losses in his last four outings at middleweight. As for Reyes, “The Devastator” is unbeaten and a winner of his last five UFC fights. It is entirely possible the winner of this fight gets the next crack at champion Jon Jones.

You can see the official poster below:

A featherweight bout between Zabit Magomedsharipov and Calvin Kattar was originally slated to take place in the co-main event. However, Magomedsharipov was dealing with injury problems and that fight has been moved to UFC Moscow.

There is no word yet on what the new co-main event will be.

Greg Hardy will not be taking on Jarjis Danho at UFC Singapore as expected. Instead, the former NFL pro-bowler will be taking on Ben Sosoli at UFC Boston after Hardy’s original opponent had to pull out of the fight.

The news of the change was first reported by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.

“Breaking: Greg Hardy’s next fight in the UFC will take place on Oct. 18 in Boston, rather than Oct. 26 in Singapore as originally planned. His initial opponent, Jarjis Danho, pulled out. New opponent is Contender Series alum Ben Sosoli,” Okamoto tweeted.

Greg Hardy, of course, is coming off of a 45-second TKO win over Juan Adams at UFC San Antonio. He was asking for a ranked opponent next, or a step up in competition after Adams, yet he does not get that. Before the Adams win, he knocked out Dmitry Smoliakov at UFC Fort Lauderdale for his first UFC win. In his Octagon debut, he was DQ’d for an illegal knee thrown against Allen Crowder.

Ben Sosoli, meanwhile, is coming off of a no-contest on the Contender Series. After the fight, UFC president, Dana White said they wanted to get him on their upcoming episode of ‘Looking For A Fight’ yet, he gets a contract beforehand. The Aussie was also a contestant on ‘The Ultimate Fighter 28’ where he lost in the first round to Juan Espino.

Where this fight will be placed on the card is unknown.

Zabit Magomedsharipov was previously scheduled to co-headline UFC on ESPN 6 against Calvin Kattar.

The show goes down from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts on October 18. However, according to a report from MMA Junkie, Magomedsharipov has been forced to pull out of the event. The UFC has not yet made the announcement official. The fight is expected to be re-booked for a future event. The leading candidate is the UFC’s next Moscow event, but nothing is official.

Magomedsharipov hasn’t lost a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fight since 2013 when he was submitted by Igor Egorov in Russia. Since, he has amassed a 13-fight win streak, including five of them under the UFC’s banner. He comes off of a unanimous decision victory over Jeremy Stephens in March at UFC 235.

As for Kattar, he is on a two-fight win streak, finishing both Chris Fishgold and Ricardo Lamas via TKO and KO in the first round, respectively. A win for either man at this stage of their careers would be massive. Check out the updated UFC Boston card below.

Dominick Reyes will welcome Chris Weidman to the light heavyweight division in the main event of UFC Boston.

The stakes will be high for both men. Should Reyes win the fight, he says he has been promised a title shot against Jon Jones. Meanwhile, should Weidman win, he would return to the win column and be right in the mix for title contention.

“Absolutely. A win over Chris Weidman guarantees me a title shot. He is a former champion and I have beaten two former title challengers,” Reyes said backstage at UFC 241.

“Now I am beating champs, the only thing left is to take out the champ of my division after I beat Chris. That is my projection. I’m 5-0 in the UFC, I’ll be 6-0 and 12-0 overall. What argument is there?”

Reyes is coming off of a split-decision win over Volkan Oezdemir back in March. Before that, he beat Ovince Saint Preux by decision, Jared Cannonier by TKO, Jeremy Kimball by submission, and Joachim Christensen by TKO. The 29-year-old is currently ranked fourth in the light heavyweight division.

Reyes could very well be getting the next shot given the state of the 205-pound division. The division always needs new contenders, but before he can get a title shot, he must get past Weidman first.

Do you think Dominick Reyes should get a title shot with a win over Chris Weidman?
