Alexis Davis (17 – 7) lost to Ronda Rousey via a knock out but then bounced back strong and won six fights which included a superb armbar submission against Sara Kaufman which made it her sixth win in seven fights.

Since then, she has lost again, but to Sara McMann this time via a submission. However, we have to cut Davis some slack for this loss, the fight was postponed by a long 19 months as Davis was pregnant and delivered her baby. It is impressive that she was able to get back into the octagon competitively so soon post her pregnancy. Her loss to Sara McMann was her first loss via submission. Usually, she is the better one when it comes to submissions and this is evident from the fact that eight of her professional wins have come via submissions – mostly armbar’s or rear – naked chokes.

Davis is going to be coming up against Cindy Dandois this when she steps into the octagon come UFC Fight Night 108. Cindy Dandois fought professionally for the first time back in 2009 and was able to clinch a decision victory in her debut against Marloes Coenen.

Since that decision victory, Dandois hasn’t fought another fight which has gone to the judges.

Both these female fighters are excellent grapplers and we expect that a lot of the fight is going to be on the ground. They are both flexible, technical and insidious. Will Alexis Davis be able to subject Dandois to one of her signature armbars or rear naked chokeholds?

We think it is going to be a stale mate and will go to the judges, where Davis may get the edge. We are going to put our money on Davis winning via unanimous decision.

Artem Lobov: I Hope They’e Able To Wake Cub Swanson Back Up

Some have criticized the UFC for booking unranked featherweight Artem Lobov in a main event bout against No. 4-ranked Cub Swanson at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 108 (April 22, 2017) card, but “The Russian Hammer” appears to be quite confident in his chances.

In a recent interview with FOX Sports, Lobov said that he’s ‘broken many people’s faces before’ with his power and he isn’t sure if Swanson will be able to handle it:

“I don’t think he’s faced anyone with the kind of power I bring,” Lobov said.  “On my first fight on “The Ultimate Fighter” in the house, I broke a guy’s orbital bone. He didn’t leave his room for weeks. This is the kind of power that’s enough to crush people’s skulls. When I say I’m breaking people’s faces, I don’t say that just to sound cool. It’s a fact. I’ve broken many people’s faces before and I don’t think this is something Cub has faced before.

“Even “The Korean Superboy” managed to rock him. Imagine if I connect. I’m being dead serious here — I hope they’re able to wake him back up.”

Swanson’s last fight was indeed against “The Korean Superboy” Doo Ho Choi at this past December’s UFC 206 and it was a slugfest for the ages. After watching it, Lobov asked matchmaker Sean Shelby for the chance to share the cage with Swanson:

“I love fighting. I’m not in the sport for any other reason than the love of fighting so I just kept hassling them for a fight and they just wouldn’t give me one. Then I saw Cub’s fight versus “The Korean Superboy” [Doo Ho Choi] and I thought wow, what a great fight. I’d love to be involved in something like that and I thought Cub was a great matchup for me,” Lobov explained.

“So I just messaged Sean Shelby saying ‘listen Sean, I know you probably think Cub would beat me but please, let me prove you wrong’ and sure enough he gave me that chance. April 22 I get to prove him wrong and by the looks of it the whole world.”

The Russian Hammer” certainly has the chance of a lifetime with this bout and he’s well aware that most fight fans are doubting him, but he seems to embrace that and take it as motivation to shock the masses:

“There’s nothing more motivating than seeing people doubt you,” Lobov said. “There is no better feeling in the world than shutting them all up and proving them all wrong.”

Are you giving Lobov a chance against Swanson?

Cub Swanson: Artem Lobov Doesn’t Deserve To Be In UFC

The always-entertaining Cub Swanson is headed for a bit of a strange turn in his career when he faces off with 2-2 UFC competitor Artem Lobov, a fighter who’s most known for his friendship with lightweight champ Conor McGregor, in the main event of Saturday’s (April 22, 2017) UFC Fight Night 108 from the Bridgestone Arena

The always-entertaining Cub Swanson is headed for a bit of a strange turn in his career when he faces off with 2-2 UFC competitor Artem Lobov, a fighter who’s most known for his friendship with lightweight champ Conor McGregor, in the main event of Saturday’s (April 22, 2017) UFC Fight Night 108 from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

Swanson staked his claim towards a title shot when he defeated rising sensation Doo Ho Choi on the main card of December 2016’s UFC 206 in an all-out classic that was many fans and media members’ pick for “Fight of the Year.” It was also his third consecutive win after he hit a rough patch with consecutive losses to the absolute best of the 145-pound talent pool in Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar in 2014-2015.

But when a Twitter showdown unexpectedly erupted between “The Russian Hammer” and him, Swanson decided he had to teach McGregor’s friend a lesson. Appearing on this week’s “The MMA Hour,” he told Ariel Helwani that talent-wise, Lobov does not even deserve to have a roster spot:

“I don’t believe that talent-wise he shouldn’t be in the UFC,” he said. “I feel like with his record and things like that there are so many more deserving people to be in the UFC. So somebody in that situation, if it wouldn’t have been for Conor, he would have had to stream together a lot more wins and do a lot more things. So I think people are pissed off about that. I particularly don’t like him for that.

“When you treat your career early on really crappy, you can’t expect to be in a good position. That’s just the way pro fighting is. So, I mean, I don’t think it’s a lack of skill set. I just think it was a lack of taking care of his record and doing all the things at the right time.”

A longtime veteran of the WEC and UFC with 31 professional bouts to his name, Swanson opened up on why he doesn’t find Lobov at all genuine after he spewed some what he deemed outlandish trash talk online:

“Because he’s trying to be somebody, like a lot of these young guys are trying to be somebody that they’re not,” he said. “And he’s trying to talk crap. You know, he called me a b*tch and he said I had no balls. I feel like those two things aren’t true statements. If feel like if you’re going to call me out on something, call me out on something that’s true, but those aren’t true. To me it’s just ridiculous, and I’d like to make an example out of him.”
