Cirkunov wasted little time engaging. He swarmed Oezdemir, but got drilled with a shot and crumbled to the canvas. Oezdemir finished him off, leaving fans stunned.

Ben Saunders was rocked, dropped, and stopped by Peter Sobotta.

A bout between two veteran welterweights took place inside the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden for UFC Fight Night 109. Saunders and Sobotta shared the Octagon.

An inside leg kick was there for Sobotta and he dropped Saunders with an overhand left. “Killa B” appeared to recover quickly. Sobotta didn’t have trouble letting leather fly. Blood trickled down the side of Saunders’ face. “Killa B” was dropped once again. Sobotta rained down some ground-and-pound, but was tied up. Saunders dropped some elbows, while threatening with a submission attempt. The horn sounded.

The second round began and Saunders wanted to find his range after getting dropped twice the previous round. A jab found the mark for Saunders. Sobotta caught the leg and rocked Saunders with a shot. “Killa B” was on wobbly legs. He buckled his opponent and put him away with a knee.

Once the adrenaline wore off, Sobotta tended to a hand injury. He told Dan Hardy that he broke his hand in the second round.

Final Result: Peter Sobotta def. Ben Saunders via TKO (Knee & Strikes) – R2, 2:29

Omari Akhmedov’s wrestling sealed the deal in his bout against Abdul Razak Alhassan.

The two touched gloves as the opening round began. Quickly Alhassan found himself on the canvas. He got back to his feet and the two separated. Alhassan parried a kick to the body. Akhmedov drove in and took his opponent down. They stood back up in short order. The two threw bombs near the end of the round.

The second stanza was underway and a head kick from Alhassan was blocked. A leg kick connected for Akhmedov. Alhassan picked his shots, but his opponent wasn’t backing down. Akhmedov shot in and completed a takedown. Alhassan got back up. An overhand right landed for Akhmedov. Yet another takedown was there for Akhmedov.

Alhassan went for a big leg kick early in the final round. A double leg takedown was there for Akhmedov, but he was reversed and Alhassan got up. Akhmedov got another takedown and found mount. The fight ended with Akhmedov going for a takedown near the fence.

Two of the three judges scored the fight for Akhmedov.

Final Result: Omari Akhmedov def. Razak Alhassan via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 30-27)

Jack Hermansson (15-3) laid the hammer down on Alex Nicholson (7-4).

The opening bout on the main card of UFC Fight Night 109 featured a middleweight bout between Hermansson and Nicholson. The two met inside the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden.

The first round began and Hermansson was on his toes bouncing around. He scored a takedown and got to side control. He landed some punches to the delight of the hometown crowd. He got the back of Nicholson and flattened him out. Hermansson dropped some hard shots and elbows. The barrage of strikes was enough to stop the fight. Nicholson was a bit bloodied.

Final Result: Jack Hermansson def. Alex Nicholson via TKO (Strikes) – R1, 2:00
