Fabricio Werdum was simply too experienced for Marcin Tybura.

Heavyweight action took center stage in the main event of UFC Fight Night 121. Werdum and Tybura mixed it up inside the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.

A leg kick for Tybura was there early. Werdum landed a leg kick and avoided strikes. He went high with a kick, but it was blocked. “Vai Cavalo” connected with a body kick. Werdum moved forward and landed a knee to the body. He went for a knee to the head in the clinch. A left hand was there for Tybura. Werdum landed an uppercut. He grabbed a hold of his opponent. He got Tybura down, but was bucked off.

A solid right hand found the target for Werdum early in round two. A body kick landed for Werdum. A head kick connected for Tybura. Werdum blocked another head kick attempt. A clean right hand had Tybura backing up. Tybura was able to land an uppercut. Werdum went for a spinning wheel kick, but missed. A combination was there for Werdum.

Werdum threw a jumping knee that partially landed in the third frame. Werdum blocked a head kick. An uppercut connected for Tybura. Werdum put pressure on his opponent and landed a push kick. He poured it on with knees and forearms. Round three was all Werdum.

A stiff jab was there for Werdum. He continued to beat his opponent to the punch. “Vai Cavalo” got a hold of Tybura against the fence. Werdum grabbed a leg and scored a takedown. He rained down some elbows in half guard. Werdum moved to side control. Tybura scrambled out of danger. Tybura went for a takedown and got it near the end of the round with Werdum looking for a guillotine choke.

Tybura threw a head kick that appeared to stun Werdum a bit, but there was no followup. Time was called for the wrapping on Werdum’s glove. Another head kick was there for Tybura. A right hand connected for Tybura. Werdum moved forward with a surge of energy. A jumping knee landed for Werdum. The two exchanged strikes until the final horn sounded.

Werdum was awarded the unanimous decision win.

Final Result: Fabricio Werdum def. Marcin Tybura via unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, 49-46)

Rawlings scored a takedown in the opening frame. She rained down some strikes. Some hammerfists and elbows to the body were there for Rawlings. Clark reversed the position. The action returned standing. A right hand was there for Clark. Another right hand landed for Clark.

Clark remained on her toes and moved around the Octagon in round two. The two engaged in a clinch battle. A knee to the body found the target for Clark. The two separated. A left hand landed for Clark. Rawlings continued to find trouble on the feet. Clark took down her opponent and went for the triangle choke. She eventually took the back of her opponent. Rawling returned to her back and Clark landed an elbow.

A body kick connected for Clark early in the final round. She followed it up with a leg kick. Rawlings continued to get tagged moving forward. They exchanged strikes. A solid right hand connected for Rawlings. Rawlings scored a takedown. Clark got control and landed some knees to the leg. She got her opponent down. Clark rained down strikes to finish the round and the fight.

In the end, Clark was awarded with a split decision victory.

Means was in stalker mode in the opening frame. He landed a straight right hand. Muhammad returned fire with short strikes. A left hand connected for Muhammad. Means looked to find a home for his straight punches. Muhammad connected with a right hand. Muhammad shot in, but was stuffed. The round ended with both men swinging for the fences.

A scramble ensued early in the second round. Muhammad had top control, but couldn’t hold it for long. A push kick was there for Means. Muhammad moved forward and was off balanced. Means got the better of that exchange. Muhammad shot in, but nothing doing. Means landed some jabs and Muhammad returned fire.

Means connected with a body kick. A leg kick spun Muhammad around. Time was briefly called for an eye poke to Muhammad. Means shot in, but Muhammad stuffed the attempt. A jab got in there for Means. A one-two combination found the mark for Muhammad. Muhammad drove in, but still couldn’t get a takedown on Means. A body kick was there for Muhammad, but he ate a right hand. A lead elbow landed for Muhammad.

Two of the three judges scored the fight for Muhammad.

Final Result: Belal Muhammad def. Tim Means via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Matthews immediately threw a punch and shot in. Velickovic landed a couple of elbows with his back against the fence. Eventually, Matthews got the takedown. Velickovic found himself defending a takedown again. Matthews dumped his opponent back to the mat. The round ended with Matthews in control.

Matthews moved in and landed a right hand in the second stanza. Matthews sensed danger and shot in. Velickovic looked for a guillotine in mount. Matthews popped his head out, but his opponent maintained mount. Matthews had his back taken. Matthews was able to escape and went for a takedown.

Matthews took down Velickovic early in the final round. Velickovic turned the tables and went for a choke. He lost control and Matthews ended up gaining the grappling advantage again.

Two of the three judges scored the fight for Matthews, awarding him the win.

Alex Volkanovski’s pressure was too much for Shane Young.

The opening bout on the main card of UFC Fight Night 121 featured a catchweight bout between Volkanovski and Young. The action took place inside the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.

The two had a bit of a feeling out process early on. Volkanovski went for a wining right hand and shot in. The fence helped keep Young on his feet. A leg kick was there for Volkanovski. He shot in again and landed a knee. He got the takedown, but only briefly.

Young was able to get back to the center of the Octagon. Volkanovski blocked a high kick. He took down Young. The round came to an end with both men standing.

Young attempted to be more aggressive in the second round. The problem was his Octagon awareness, as he continued to find his back against the fence. Volkanovski continued to find a home for the leg kicks. Two right hands led to Volkanovski setting up a shot. He was able to get his opponent down. Another right hand found the target for Volkanovski.

Right away in the final round, Volkanovski hammered away with leg kicks. He pressured Young against the fence and landed a right hand. He hurt Young with a knee to the body. Then, he connected with a knee to the body. Young was able to get a takedown of his own. Volkanovski powered his way up. In top control, Volkanovski rained down some ground-and pound.

Final Result: Alex Volkanovski def. Shane Young via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-26, 30-26)
