UFC Fight Night 45 Video Highlights: Donald Cerrone vs. Jim Miller, Edson Barboza’s Nasty Body Kick TKO + More

(Props: UFC on FOX)

If you didn’t tune in to UFC Fight Night 45: Cerrone vs. Miller last night, slap yourself in the face. The Atlantic City event was chock full of wild battles, debilitating body shots, and freakish hematomas, and every fight on the main card ended by stoppage — all at the low, low price of $0.00 (assuming you have basic cable).

Headliner Donald Cerrone became the fifth UFC fighter in history to earn ten performance bonuses, thanks to his second-round knockout of Jim Miller, which netted him a $50,000 bump for Performance of the Night. Fun fact: Cerrone has earned $610,000 in bonus money during his three-and-a-half-year UFC career…and counting. Check out highlights from Cerrone vs. Miller in the video above. At the 0:38-0:41 mark, Jim Miller tries to recreate Scott Smith vs. Pete Sell and fails. But man, that would have been awesome.

Fight of the Night went to the John Lineker vs. Alptekin Ozkilic flyweight feature, which Lineker won by TKO with nine seconds remaining in the fight. Highlights from that match are after the jump, along with footage from Edson Barboza‘s body-kick TKO of Evan Dunham, Joe Proctor’s gritty win over Justin Salas, and Rick Story‘s squash match submission against Leonardo Mafra.

Claudia Gadelha vs. Tina Lahdemaki Booked for UFC’s First-Ever Women’s Strawweight Match at UFC Fight Night 45 in July

Two months before the strawweight season of The Ultimate Fighter debuts on FOX Sports 1 on September 10th, UFC fans will get their first glimpse of the promotion’s new 115-pound female division when Claudia Gadelha (11-0) faces Tina Lahdemaki (5-0) at UFC Fight Night: Cerrone vs. Miller, July 16th in Atlantic City. The booking was first reported by FOX Sports.

Gadelha should be a familiar name for followers of Invicta FC, as the Brazilian Nova Uniao product TKO’d Ayaka Hamasaki at Invicta FC 6 last July, and was supposed to challenge Carla Esparza for Invicta’s strawweight title in December, until a bout of gastroenteritis bumped her out the night before the event. Gadelha was offered a spot in the TUF 20 cast, but turned it down due to concerns over making weight repeatedly in a short period of time. She is apparently the youngest BJJ black belt in Nova Uniao history.

Lahdemaki is from Finland, and has primarily competed at 125 pounds in the past, most recently choking out Karla Benitez at Cage 24 last November in her home country. We don’t know much else about her, but sure, she’s UFC-caliber, why not.

Related: A bantamweight fight between Jessamyn “Sweet BBQ” Duke and Leslie Smith has also been added to the card.

Barnburner Alert: Donald Cerrone vs. Jim Miller Booked for UFC Fight Night 45 Main Event, 7/16 in Atlantic City

(Budweiser vs. Bass Pro Shops: A battle for the soul of America.)

Fresh off of their fantastic wins last month, lightweight crowd-pleasers Donald Cerrone and Jim Miller have been booked to face each other in the main event of UFC Fight Night 45, which goes down July 16th at the Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. The match will be scheduled for five rounds, and will air on FOX Sports 1.

“Cowboy” has put together three consecutive stoppage victories since his decision loss to Rafael Dos Anjos last August, and most recently choked out Edson Barboza in the first round of their fight at UFC on FOX 11, picking up yet another performance bonus for his efforts. A week later, Miller scored his own first-round submission against Yancy Medeiros at UFC 172. The win gave Miller his 13th UFC victory, which ties him with Gleison Tubau for the most wins in the UFC lightweight division.

Every Donald Cerrone fight is a guaranteed show-stopper, but putting him against Miller is particularly inspired matchmaking. Not only is Miller a New Jersey native, he’s also one of the nastiest 155’ers in the world when he’s on his game (as he has been lately). At this point, the only other fight that’s been reported for the 7/16 event is a bantamweight match between Aljamian Sterling and Hugo Viana. We’ll keep you posted as the card fills up.
