The road to a second Octagon title tilt for decorated Dutch kickboxer, Alistair ‘The Demolition Man’ Overeem is still a fruitful one. Now 2-0 in his last two outings, the veteran striker rallied after some early round adversity, to utilize slashing ground-and-pound, finishing Augusto Sakai early in the closing frame of our main event.

Surviving some worrying blitzes and clinch shots, the former K-1 Grand Prix, Strikeforce, and Dream heavyweight best began scoring takedowns from the third round onward. Immediately displaying his more polished grappling, Overeem established positions for ground barrages – managing slashing elbows and brutal hammer fists from a stacked guard.

With a sizeable cut opened on Brazilian striker, Sakai’s forehead, the contender entered the final round notably fatigued. Securing an early single-leg variation, Overeem assumed posture as he’d managed the two rounds prior, scoring an eventual stoppage after some more elbows and heavy hammerfists.

Speaking with UFC commentator, Jon Anik afterward in his post-fight interview, the #6 ranked heavyweight spoke of his intentions to possibly fight once more this year, if not, early in 2021.

Scoring double digits body kicks with round and teep variations, veteran light heavyweight mainstay eventually landed a massive counter hook, to stop Menifield in his tracks with a minute left in the penultimate frame.

Rebounding from a brief heavyweight excursion loss to Ben Rothwell – Saint Preux called for a third Octagon appearance of this year during his post-fight interview with Jon Anik. With his stoppage of Fortis MMA mainstay, Menifield – Von Flue choke specialist, Saint Preux notched his thirteenth Octagon victory.

It truly wouldn’t be a fight featuring Michel Pereira without his usual antics and unorthodox display throughout. The flashy capoeira kicker managed to return to the winner’s enclosure, with a majorly one-sided rear-naked choke victory over Zelim Imadaev with mere seconds remaining in the final round.

For the majority of the three-round affair, the entertaining striker out-landed Imadaev with relative ease – mixing up his target with kicks up high, to the body, and utilising his usual flashy style. Suplexing Imadaev with just over thirty-seconds remaining in the final-frame, Pereira took the Russian’s back – before locking up a rear-naked choke. In what appears a miscued stoppage from referee Chris Tognoni, Imadaev seemingly attempts to hand fight – with the referee calling a halt to proceedings nevertheless.

Brazilian upstart, Andre ‘Sergipano’ Muniz has improved on his UFC winning streak, following his transition from Dana White’s Contender Series in August of last year.

Scoring our second straight submission stoppage of the night, the Minas Gerais native managed to wrap up an armbar victory over Polish contender, Bartosz Fabi?ski inside the three-minute mark of the premier frame.

Initially attempting a deep guillotine, Muniz then transitioned and briefly threatened with a triangle, before swivelling and locking up an armbar. Drawing a quickfire tap from the Pole – the 34-year-old finisher remains undefeated in the promotion, moving to 2-0 under the UFC’s banner.

The New York native was initially scheduled to face off with Ricky Simón at UFC Fight Night Vegas 9 tonight until a positive COVID-19 test ruled the latter out. Yesterday, Kevin Natividad weighed in ahead of a featherweight matchup but was forced to withdraw late last night. In steps Dana White’s Contender Series alum, Rodriguez.

Firing off an initial combination, Rodriguez pushed Kelleher back to the fence, shooting for a double-leg shortly after. Locking up a now patented guillotine, Kelleher forced the issue with a submission win in a mere forty-seconds deep into the very first round. Speaking with UFC commentator, Jon Anik afterward, Kelleher voiced his intentions to make the Octagon walk for a staggering fifth time this year.
