Things are already heated between Claudia Gadelha and Carla Esparza if they are to have a rematch.

Following a razor-thin split decision win over Angela Hill in the co-main event of UFC Florida this past weekend, Gadelha was asked who she wanted to face next. Having already defeated Esparza in a close contest two years ago, the Brazilian called for a rematch with the former champion.

Esparza was reciprocative to the idea but having previously accused Gadelha of greasing her body in their UFC 225 contest — making it harder for her to grapple — she took a dig at the latter in her response.

“Let’s run it back!! Leave the grease at home this time ?? @ClaudiaGadelha_”

Gadelha: How The F*ck Am I Going To Grease?

That didn’t go down well with Gadelha who responded in the post-fight press conference.

“It’s 2020. The sport is evolving so much, come on,” Gadelha said (via MMA Fighting). “I have the commission following me from the time I step into the octagon to the time the fight is finish. How the f—k am I going to grease?

“Carla Esparza, stop with your f—king excuses, and let’s get back in there again.”

With her win over Hill, Gadelha is on a two-fight winning streak for the first time since 2017 as she looks to enter title contention once again.

As for Esparza, she recently earned a split decision win over Michelle Waterson at UFC 249 earlier this month to make it three wins in a row.

What do you make of Esparza’s greasing claims? Should they fight again next?

Edson Barboza clearly believes he won his featherweight debut.

Barboza dropped down to 145 to take on Dan Ige on the main card of UFC Florida this past weekend. The Brazilian enjoyed a promising overall debut as he dropped and dominated Ige in the first round and ended the second round with effective ground and pound.

Ige convincingly won the third round and although he did have overall control in the second round, many felt Barboza landed the more significant strikes and should have come away with the victory.

Of course, that wasn’t the case as Ige would win a split decision putting Barboza on a three-fight losing streak with his last two losses now being highly-debatable verdicts. To make matters worse, Barboza can’t even appeal the decision as that would require accusing Ige of fraud or using illegal substances.

Barboza Ready To Fight Anyone, Anywhere, Any Time

One way things can be made better according to him is if he gets his win bonus. The former lightweight contender also stated that he’s ready to compete in July.

“Hey @danawhite @seanshelby the whole word knows that I won that fight! Send me the win bonus and the contract for July, anyone, anywhere, anytime. I will be ready.”

It remains to be seen if Barboza will be given his win bonus.

Although it’s something that has happened in the past when fighters have lost fights they clearly won, this particular contest was still close. And given the amount of poor judging these last few events, Dana White may have to end up shelling out more than one win bonus.

Not that he can’t afford it though.

What do you think of Barboza asking for his win bonus?

Alistair Overeem isn’t giving up on becoming a UFC champion.

Overeem returned to winning ways with an impressive come-from-behind TKO victory over Walt Harris in the UFC Florida headliner last night.

It capped off a solid night for Overeem who turned 40 at midnight and has now won three of his last four outings.

And although he is now in his forties, the former title challenger is still hoping for another run at the UFC heavyweight title in what he believes to be the last phase of his mixed martial arts career.

“We’re still hunting for the title,” Overeem said in the UFC Florida post-fight press conference (via MMA Fighting). “I would say also I’m in the last phase of my career.

So those two things are a little bit on my mind. Finish the career and one more run at the title.”

Future Title Shot Over Overeem?

Overeem’s first and only attempt at the title came when he challenged Stipe Miocic for the strap at UFC 203 back in September 2016. Although he dropped the Cleveland native, Overeem was unable to finish him off and ended up suffering a first-round knockout.

With one or two more solid wins, “The Reem” could find himself in a position to challenge for the title once again.

That said, the division is a bit log-jammed at the moment.

Do you think Overeem will get another chance at the title?

Cruz ‘Loving’ UFC Florida Referee

Dominick Cruz threw some shade Keith Peterson’s way during UFC Florida last night.

Cruz made headlines at UFC 249 last week when he accused Peterson of smelling like alcohol and cigarettes after he felt the referee stopped his bantamweight title fight with Henry Cejudo too early.

“That was an early stoppage, 100 percent – I’m positive of it,” he said. “I wish there was a way to keep these refs a little more responsible sometimes. The guy smelled like alcohol and cigarettes, so who knows what he was doing. Definitely (he did). I wish they drug tested them.”

While fighters tend to make excuses in the heat of the moment, Cruz didn’t back down — in fact, he doubled down on his accusations a few days later.

And when another referee in Dan Miragliotta let the action go on in the main event between Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris at UFC Florida when other referees may have stopped the fight at certain points, Cruz decided to give him props on social media.

“Loving this ref send him a gift basket ?

As of now, Peterson is yet to publicly respond to Cruz’s allegations.

However, there wouldn’t be a way to prove he was drinking regardless, especially as other referees such as Herb Dean refuted the claims.

What do you make of Cruz’s tweet?
