Mickey Gall is a little irked about being left out of the main card of this weekend’s (Sat. August 25, 2018) UFC Lincoln event.

Gall earned his claim to fame in September of 2016. He welcomed former WWE star CM Punk into the UFC with a first-round submission victory. Gall went on to defeat the likes of fellow UFC President ‘Dana White’s Looking For A Fight’ alumni Sage Northcutt.

He now comes off the first defeat of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. Gall was defeated by another ‘Looking For A Fight’ alumni, Randy Brown, via unanimous decision in November. Now he hopes to bounce back with a victory over longtime MMA veteran George Sullivan.

Despite Gall being one of the more recognized names on UFC Lincoln, he was placed as the opening fight on the FOX Sports 2 prelims.

Gall spoke to MMA Junkie on the matter and admitted that UFC Lincoln is a pretty stacked card. He suggested his experience level could be the reasoning behind his placement:

“I’ve been asked that question a lot,” Gall said. “It is a pretty stacked main card. Maybe my experience (is why)? Let’s attribute it to that. I know I’m one of the bigger names, but it’s all good.”

Gall admitted that being snubbed from the main card bothers him a bit, but the plan remains the same – go in and beat up George Sullivan:

“It does (bother me),” Gall said. “I want people to see all the work I’ve put in, I want to be on TV. I want to be seen as much as possible.

“It does matter. But what am I going to do? I’m going to go in there and beat this dude up anyway.”

In order to gain the attention of UFC officials, Gall knows he needs to make a statement in Nebraska. He plans on doing exactly that against Sullivan. Gall described his intentions of painting “beautiful, violent art” inside the Octagon this weekend:

“I want to put a highlight on him,” Gall said. “I want to do something. This is my art. I want to paint something beautiful, I want to paint some beautiful, violent art. Something that will last. I want to crush him. I want to put a violent masterpiece on.”

Michael Johnson Seeks Redemption At UFC Lincoln

Johnson is need for a big win.

Michael Johnson seeks not only a win in his next fight but redemption following his latest performance inside of the Octagon.

Michael Johnson Seeks

Johnson is looking to get his hand raised once again as it’s been a bit since that has happened as he has lost this last three fights. Those losses came to Khabib Nurmagomedov by submission at UFC 205 and Justin Gaethje by KO in the second round last July.

In his latest fight, he fought at featherweight for the first time in his pro-MMA career.
The start of the fight was great but the second round was his downfall. Johnson looked great at lightweight at first then had to make the move down to featherweight division this past January against Darren Elkins at UFC St. Louis. As seen in the fight, he suffered a second-round rear-naked choke loss.

Redemption

Michael Johnson seeks to get back to his winning ways as he prepares to fight Elkins’ Team Alpha Male squadmate, Andre Fili at the UFC Lincoln event.

“I definitely need to get in here and get a win, I know that,” Johnson told MMA Fighting. “Not only for the sake of my position, but for my sanity, for one, and for things that I want [in my career] and for things that I’m wanting in life. I have to go in there, I have to get a win, I have to keep progressing. I can’t take any steps back now.

Shocked

“I’m still shocked from that (Elkins) fight, how I ended up losing. It’s just like everybody who saw it. I was pretty much having my way with him the whole first round, and I just made a little mistake and that’s our sport, and that’s our world, and it cost me. And I didn’t really recover too well and I rushed out of a spot, so all I take from that is I have to stay focused.”

UFC Lincoln (also known as UFC Fight Night 135) is set to take place on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska. The main card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 10 p.m. ET. The preliminary card will be split broadcasted on FOX Sports 2 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass, at 6:30 p.m. ET.

“I have to believe in my training and believe in myself. Believe in what I can do. I kinda froze up on the ground in that first fight, and that’s not happening anymore.”

“[It’s going to be] a beautiful destruction. I’m going to go in there and I’m going to be as sharp as possible. Everything is just going to be on-point. There’s no mistakes that can be made in this fight. Everybody tries to be perfect, I have to be perfect in this fight.”

Justin Gaethje Explains Goal That Is Preventing Retirement

There is one goal that is stopping Gaethje from hanging up his gloves.

The post Justin Gaethje Explains Goal That Is Preventing Retirement appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Justin Gaethje explains what is continuing his pursuit to stay in the fight game and show up to train at the gym. Back in April, Gaethje went on record by stating that he only has about five fights left in his pro-MMA career.

Next Fight

Gaethje vs. James Vick in a lightweight bout will headline the upcoming UFC Lincoln event. He’s is currently 1-2 in the UFC and 18-2 overall in his MMA career.

During a recent interview, the former WSOF champ went on record by stating that he still wants to put on exciting fights. But at the end of the day, he wants to be a champion. Once that is no longer the case, he’s done.

Justin Gaethje Explains

“100-percent. When that’s not my goal, I will retire,” Gaethje said (transcript via MMAFighting). “I want to be the best. I want to be the best in the world. The UFC, they are the hype machine, fighting on a UFC card there is nothing like it,” Gaethje said. “Experience is a hell of a trait to have and now with some experience under my belt, it will do a lot of things for me.”

UFC Lincoln (also known as UFC Fight Night 135) is set to take place on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska.

“I’m going to be more comfortable in a sense and I’m going to be more vigilant in not getting comfortable in the fight. That comes with experience so yeah, I’m excited to out there and do it again. If you watch the fights, you have to understand how close either one of us were to getting the ‘W.’ And finishing that fight,” Gaethje said. “For James Vick to sit here and say I’m a ‘B’ league fighter. I don’t deserve the accolades that I’m getting — the bonuses, the main events — they guy just doesn’t get it. I’m painting a pretty clear picture of what pure effort can achieve in this sport. If you don’t want to pay attention, that’s not my problem.”

The main card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 10 p.m. ET. The preliminary card will be split broadcasted on FOX Sports 2 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass, at 6:30 p.m. ET.
