Despite not being the champion at light heavyweight, everyone is still gunning for Jon Jones.

Jones reigned as the light heavyweight champ from 2011 to 2015 before being stripped of his title due to personal issues out-of-competition. Now currently serving a one-year suspension by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), Jones is expected to make his highly-anticipated return against the winner of current 205-pound champ Daniel Cormier and No. 1-ranked Anthony Johnson at UFC 210 next month (Sat. April 10, 2017).

This weekend (Sat. March 18, 2017) will feature a great 205-pound headliner at UFC London between No. 4-ranked Jimi Manuwa and No. 7-ranked Corey Anderson. Manuwa, who recently spoke to Sky Sports ahead of his Octagon return, recently commented on Jones’ historic career.

Manuwa stated that Jones’ past opponents have been rather ‘one-dimensional’ and he’d be interested to see how ‘Bones” would fare against a knockout specialist such as himself or ‘Rumble’ Johnson:

“I think I could knock him out,” Manuwa said. “He’s fought Teixeira, who is one-dimensional and doesn’t have the variety of striking that I’ve got. Jones has never fought a knockout specialist. I’d like to see him fight either me or ‘Rumble’, and see how he puts up with getting hit on the chin.”

Before ‘The Poster Boy’ can worry about a potential match-up with Jones, however, he has a tall task ahead of him in The Ultimate Fighter 19 (TUF 19) winner Corey Anderson, who has appeared motivated and refocused in the one bout we’ve seen him in following a close loss to former champion Shogun Rua at 2016’s UFC 198.

The two will collide in the main event of UFC London this weekend (Sat. March 18, 2017) from the O2 Arena in London, England.

Jimi Manuwa Rips Light Heavyweights: ‘Why Does no One Want to Fight?’

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight Jimi Manuwa hasn’t had much luck finding opposition it seems. The “Poster Boy” rebounded from a knockout loss to Anthony Johnson by delivering a knockout of his own. Manuwa’s victim was former interim title contender Ovince Saint Preux back in October.

Since that time, Manuwa said he’s tried to step inside the Octagon with three 205-pounders. He told Flo Combat that all of them avoided him. First was Glover Teixeira:

“I signed the contract and everything and then they went and scrapped the card. They then asked me to fight him in Denver, Colorado at altitude so I would’ve had to go [through] massive expenses flying my team out there for [a] month. I told them that and tried to negotiate with them, but they said no. So then I said I’d fight him on the Brooklyn card [UFC 208]. They were then considering it and I told them I really wanted to fight Glover because it makes good sense for everyone.”

“They came back to me and said that Brooklyn was a no go. The next thing I know, Teixeira is fighting some guy that’s not even in the top 15 [Jared Cannonier]. It makes zero sense to anybody. Why does that fight make sense? I don’t understand it.”

Next on Manuwa’s radar was Ryan Bader. The problem there is that “Darth” is currently a free agent and Bellator is looking to scoop him up.

“After that happened, I said give me Bader, it’s another one that makes sense because he’s ranked above me and I think it will be another good fight. They came back to me and said that Bader was a no go because of his contract situation. I was thinking, ‘why does no one want to fight?'”

The final straw was when Manuwa couldn’t secure a bout with former UFC champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

“They came back and they said no–Shogun said no. I was just like, ‘what the f*ck is going on here?’ Where is everyone? I hate calling people out and saying people’s names, but now I can understand why they do it. There’s way too much cherry picking going on and people that just want to hold on to their spot.”

Luckily for Manuwa, Corey Anderson stepped up to take the challenge. They will be competing at a UFC Fight Night event in London on March 18.

Artem Lobov Eyeing Cub Swanson or Doo Ho Choi For UFC London

Artem Lobov last stepped inside the Octagon in November. He defeated Teruto Ishihara via unanimous decision in front of a delighted Belfast crowd. Lobov is now looking to be on the London card on March 18.

Speaking to the Irish Daily Mirror (via Severe MMA), “The Russian Hammer” said he’s noticing a lot of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) competitors want things handed to them rather than fight:

“Now that I’m in the UFC and I’m watching all the greatest fighters in the world compete, I’m quickly beginning to realize that there are not that many guys that want to fight. Everyone wants the money, everyone wants a good life, but they don’t want to fight. You see it often when a guy gets a win. You don’t see them for a while because they want to ride the wave of the win and not think about fighting. I’m not like that at all. I love fighting, I got into the sport because I love fighting and I want to do it as often as I can.”

Lobov trains with SBG Ireland alongside Conor McGregor. He started off his professional UFC run at 0-2, but he has won two in a row. He is gunning for either Doo Ho Choi or Cub Swanson for his next bout.

“I think he’ll give me an exciting matchup, but I’m ready for everyone. I wanted Mirsad Bektic, but I seen recently that he has been matched for UFC 209, so it’s not going to be him. Cub Swanson or ‘The Korean Superboy’ would be a really good fight. Their last fight was great and I really think I match up well against either of those guys. I really think that would be a good one. With Cub especially, I think that would be a very big fight for London. I think the fans would like to see me in their with ‘The Korean Superboy’ in London as well.”

Stipe Miocic Eyeing March Return, Possibly In London

Reigning UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic recently defended his title for the very first time at Sep. 10’s UFC 203 from his home of Cleveland, Ohio, impressively stopping Alistair Overeem in the first round of their main event bout. Reigning UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic recently defended his title for the very first time at Sep. 10’s UFC 203 from his home of Cleveland, Ohio, impressively stopping Alistair Overeem in the first round of their main event bout. After already competing three times in 2016, however, the champion was interested in taking time off.

Recently speaking with Independent.co.uk, Miocic said that he’s eying a return in March, a month where the UFC is reportedly looking to return to London, a possibility that the heavyweight king is open to:

“I’m hoping to return in March,” Miocic said. “Sometime early on in 2017 or maybe early Spring. I hate flying and I hate traveling, but if they want me to fight in the UK then I’d love to the fight in the UK.”

Prior to beating Overeem, Miocic had put together a three fight win streak that included consecutive finishes over the likes of Mark Hunt, Andrei Arlovski and Fabricio Werdum. As far as what lies ahead for him, it’s likely that he’ll take on the winner of UFC 207’s rematch between former champions Werdum and Cain Velasquez.

Those two men first did battle at June 2015’s UFC 188 where Werdum battered Velasquez to walk away with the heavyweight title. Miocic, however, then knocked out the Brazilian last May to steal the strap.

Who would you rather see Miocic make his next defense against?
