UFC Minneapolis has not disappointed thus far. As we now kick off the main card on ESPN, Alonzo Menifield capitalized on a grave error by opponent Paul Craig.

Craig went for a spinning attack, but missed, falling down to the canvas. Menifield pounced on Craig, connecting on a vicious punch, and followed up with some deadly ground-and-pound. He picked up the first-round knockout victory to open up the show with a thunderous stoppage.

Paul Craig meets Alonzo Menifield in a light heavyweight contest next on the main card of UFC Minneapolis.

Round 1: After a feeling out process, they briefly clinch up against the fence where Craig considered pulling guard but let it go. Craig chased him down for a takedown but Menifield stuffed it well and Craig let it go. Menifield fended off a weak wheel kick. Craig avoids a combo and clinched with him up against the fence. Craig tried a rolling takedown but Menifield walked out of it. Craig went for another wheel kick but Craig fell down. Menifield followed up with strikes on the ground for the win. 

Result: Alonzo Menifield def. Paul Craig via R1 KO (punches, 3:19)

What a card UFC Minneapolis has turned out to be thus far. Eryk Anders continued the trend of finishes as the preliminary card draws near it’s end, knocking out Vinicius Moreira in the first round of their light heavyweight matchup.

Anders came out and landed some bombs clean on Moreira’s chin, dropping him to the canvas. The former college football player followed up with some vicious ground-and-pound, even getting in a few unnecessary shots on what looked to be an already unconscious Moreira due to poor officiating, to pick up the finish.

Every fight thus far on the UFC Minneapolis preliminary card has ended with a finish, and Dalcha Lungiambula vs. Dequan Townsend at light heavyweight was no different.

The two heavy-hitters engaged in a back-and-forth slugfest for three rounds, however, Lungiambula was able to plant Townsend to the canvas early in the third with a beautiful counter shot. Lungiambula was able to mount Townsend and deliver some nasty elbows that subsequently forced the referee to call the action off.
