Conor McGregor was not happy with the UFC promo for UFC 269 main event between Dustin Poirier vs Charles Oliveira.

McGregor has been very vocal with how he has felt about Poirier’s victories over him. In the first fight, he claims he was winning before the leg kicks were too much for him. He claimed that his boxing was on point and he would have won were it not for those leg kicks that Poirier implemented.

In the second fight, McGregor broke his leg and has claimed since Joe Rogan sat next to him inside the cage that the win was not legitimate. He was even yelling that the win was a doctors stoppage and not a TKO win. The promo that the UFC used showed footage of McGregor breaking his leg in the third Poirier fight.

The promo showed Oliveira’s win over Michael Chandler, while also showing Poirier’s win over McGregor.

Conor McGregor didn’t take to kindly to the UFC using that footage to promote the fight

In a deleted tweet that was captured by Adam Martin, McGregor took aim at the UFC in his most recent deleted tweet.

“Is that the only shot yous had of him ‘landing’ in that fight? Didn’t land. He just bowled forward while I’m on one leg there. Garbage! It’s 1 a piece and any push other wise is for the bin. Stick me in this promo in the back ground as a dark, rich, evil shadow. Boost the Ppv’s.”

McGregor is no stranger to deleting tweets that are a bit controversial. He has deleted tweets in the past when he had some off putting comments about Khabib Numragomedov’s father and many other times as well.

McGregor has recently been on twitter discussing possible fights with Michael Chandler and former featherweight champ Max Holloway.

Does Conor McGregor have a right to be upset with how the UFC is using him to promote the fight between Oliveira vs Poirier?

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman thinks Colby Covington overlooked him at their rematch in the UFC 268 main event.

Usman closed the door on his rivalry with Covington with a unanimous decision victory at UFC 268. It was a back-and-forth war from start to finish, but Usman had his way in the championship rounds and earned the win on the judges’ scorecards.

But Usman feels that Covington wasn’t completely prepared for the bout in the right way, and felt that the welterweight champion hadn’t made any strides since their first matchup. Usman believes this was a key reason for Covington’s downfall in the octagon.

Kamaru Usman defeated Colby Covington by unanimous decision at UFC 268

Usman detailed his thoughts on Covington’s approach at UFC 268 during a recent interview with Daniel Cormier.

“He went to a new team that was better strategically,” Usman said. “Like, you can tell that they did their due diligence and they were trying to set me up for something. They expected the old fighter, from fight one. So they planned for that fighter, and their strategy was for that fighter.”

“What they didn’t understand is that I was a completely different fighter. I know how to control range now,” Usman continued. “I know how to keep balance in my shots, and I know how to keep him away. So I think he was surprised once he got in there and I wasn’t that same guy.”

Usman’s latest win over Covington was his fifth successful title defense, since originally earning the belt over Tyron Woodley at UFC 235. He’s earned knockouts over Jorge Masvidal and Gilbert Burns during his title reign.

With the Covington rivalry behind him, at least for now, Usman awaits a new challenger to rise up the ranks of the welterweight division. A potential future matchup between Usman and Khamzat Chimaev could be on the horizon, but it’s unclear what the UFC brass has in mind for Usman’s next challenge in the cage.

Montaño Slams Documentary For Showing Her Exposed Without Consent

Warrior Spirit, Nicco Montano

Former UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Nicco Montaño has criticized the makers of the “Warrior Spirit” documentary for including a scene in which she is “exposed” without her consent.

Montaño’s fall from grace since becoming the inaugural 125-pound queen has been sizable. Between her title crowning in 2017 and her UFC release this year, the 32-year-old fought just once, a decision loss to bantamweight contender Julianna Peña in 2019.

The Arizona-born fighter, who made history when she became the first female Native American champion in the UFC, was stripped of the gold after her scheduled defense against current champ Valentina Shevchenko was canceled. Montaño was transported to hospital due to the effects of weight cutting, an issue that would heavily contribute to the downfall of her career.

In total, the former champ had nine fights called off in the promotion, six due to issues on her own side. Remarkably, she had more UFC fights canceled than she’s had bouts in her entire professional MMA career. The last straw came in July this year. Set to face Wu Yanan at UFC Vegas 33, Montaño was a depleted individual on the scales, missing weight by a mammoth seven pounds. She was released days later.

Montano Highlights Warrior Spirit’s Hypocrisy

At the time of her final weight miss and subsequent release, production was ongoing for a documentary titled “Warrior Spirit.” The film, put into motion by Albuquerque filmmaker Landon Dyksterhouse, follows Montaño during her extreme weight-cutting process inside the UFC Performance Institute.

Per the creator, the documentary was made to show the injustices within MMA’s biggest promotion. However, in the end, Montaño is the one who’s been left feeling betrayed.

During a recent appearance on MMA on SiriusXM, the former UFC champ made worrying claims about the film. According to the 32-year-old, “Warrior Spirit” features a scene, during which she is exposed. Montaño says she didn’t give consent for the clip to be included, and wasn’t made aware of it before the film’s debut in September.

“And so when I confronted my producer, who was also my lawyer at the time, and I asked him, like, ‘Why is this scene in the show? Like, I’m getting all kinds of hate. I still haven’t been able to watch the link because you’re worried that I’m still gonna show the UFC something.’ Even though I was at the tail end of working with the UFC, so I didn’t want to be involved with the film because I knew it was taking that route because they were being secretive about it. And then the UFC’s like, ‘Well, this documentary’s coming out, anti-UFC. Do you know about it? It has your name all over it.’ And I’m like, ‘I haven’t been able to see it. I’ve been trying to ask them for a link. They’re not sending it to me.’

“And when the film came out and everybody was like, ‘Why are you doing this by exposing yourself? We’re native. We’re a modest people. You shouldn’t have done this. Now I’m really not your fan.’ I’m like, ‘I have no idea what’s happening. I was never sent the link. I never said this was OK.’ If that part needed to be in the film—I mean, I don’t even see why it needed to be in the film.”

Accusing the creators of hypocrisy, Montaño discussed the irony of a film designed to highlight the way their people have been exploited actually exploiting her in a documentary she’s received no reimbursement for.

“It’s funny because the film talks about the genocide of our people, right? We get exploited by the government, the UFC exploits their fighters, and now I’m not getting any reimbursement from this show, exposed for free because I signed a contract that my lawyer did three years ago.

“And so I wrote him. I was like, ‘Hey, why is this part in the film?’ He was like, ‘Oh, no, you’re not exposed. I don’t know who’s telling you lies.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, I don’t think 14 people out of the one premiere is telling lies when they’re all writing me about it and half of them are my family.’ And I was just like, yeah, now, all my cousins have freakin’ seen me exposed. This is super inappropriate. You’re talking about exploiting, fighters exploiting Navajo people, and you’re being so hypocritical doing the exact same thing to me. Like I said, I’m not getting any reimbursement. My name is all over this, but I’m not getting any awards. I’m not getting any notifications from any of the festivals about anything. It’s all on them with my name all over it.”

After the podcast’s host, former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate, made her disgust at the troubling revelation known, the filmmaker offered to give his side of the story in an appearance on the show. While the full picture is yet to be made clear, Montaño’s claims are certainly concerning.

Rising UFC welterweight star Khamzat Chimaev is ready and willing to fight Leon Edwards on short notice at UFC 269 next month.

Edwards was supposed to face Jorge Masvidal in a three-round main card bout, but Masvidal recently withdrew from the bout due to an undisclosed injury. Top contenders such as Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns have thrown their names in the hat for a short notice fight with Edwards.

But Chimaev has allegedly been calling for a fight ever since his dominant performance against Li Jingliang at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi and has offered to step up to fill in for Masvidal at UFC 269.

Khamzat Chimaev wants to step up to face Leon Edwards at UFC 269

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto later relayed what Chimaev’s manager told him following the Masvidal news.

Chimaev has risen onto the scene since his electric 2020, in which he earned three finishes within two months. He was one of many prospects who made their stock rise in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chimaev took months off from the fight game after suffering a severe case of COVID, in which he was close to retiring permanently. But he returned this year and got back on track in his pursuit of UFC gold.

Big names, such as welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, have taken notice of Chimaev’s skillset. He was also supposed to fight Edwards last year before he was diagnosed with COVID-19.

Edwards is on a nine-fight winning streak and has long called for a title rematch against Usman. While it’s unclear whether or not Edwards will remain on the card, it’s clear that he’s probably the next in line for the title. But he may accept a bout against Chimaev in an attempt to stay active.

Should Leon Edwards accept a short notice fight against Khamzat Chimaev?

Edwards Tells Usman ‘I Will See You Soon’ After Masvidal Withdrawal

Leon Edwards Khamzat Chimaev

It looks like Leon Edwards is not interested in a short notice fight with Khamzat Chimaev.

After news broke on Wednesday, that Jorge Masvidal was out of his UFC 269 fight with Edwards, due to an undisclosed injury, it was unclear what the plan was as far as a replacement fighter. However, it did not take long for Chimaev to volunteer his services for this opportunity.

Taking to his Twitter, Chimaev called for Edwards to take a fight with him, rescheduling a bout that was canceled on three previous occasions. If this happened, it would see the Chechen back in the Octagon about six weeks after he demolished Li Jingliang at UFC 267.

“Let’s go bro we do it @Leon_edwardsmma ??” Chimaev wrote.

However, it seems that Leon Edwards has some plans of his own, and they do not involve fighting Khamzat Chimaev or anyone else at UFC 269. He took to his Twitter shortly after the news of Masvidal’s withdrawal, expressing his disappointment in the fight being canceled while saying that he was unsurprised.

He then completely ignored the call from Chimaev. Instead, he set his sights on fighting Kamaru Usman sometime next year, saying that he wanted to take time to spend with his family.

“Disappointed but honestly I knew this fraud didn’t want to fight me anyway. He was just a stop off on the way to the title. The goal remains the same. Much needed family time now, @usman84kg i will see you soon,” Edwards wrote.

Nobody can blame Leon Edwards for being more interested in a title shot over a dangerous matchup with an unknown quantity like Khamzat Chimaev, on short notice no less. That said, there is a certain demand among the fans to see this fight happen, so he will no doubt be facing some criticism if this is his final decision.

UFC welterweight contender Leon Edwards has spoken out for the first time since Jorge Masvidal pulled out of their UFC 269 bout, and he isn’t happy.

Edwards was supposed to finally settle his beef with Masvidal in the octagon in a three-round main card bout at UFC 269. But, it was reported earlier today that Masvidal won’t be able to compete due to an undisclosed injury.

It is unclear as to whether or not Edwards will remain on the UFC 269 card, but he sounds coy about what’s next for him. In a recent tweet, Edwards ripped Masvidal for pulling out of the fight while appearing to look ahead to a welterweight title shot against Kamaru Usman.

Jorge Masvidal Pulled Out of His Fight with Leon Edwards Due To an Undisclosed Injury

“Disappointed but honestly I knew this fraud didn’t want to fight me anyway,” Edwards said. “He was just a stop off on the way to the title. The goal remains the same. Much needed family time now. [Kamaru Usman], I will see you soon.”

Edwards is coming off of his UFC 263 win over Nate Diaz by unanimous decision. Fans were distraught upon hearing of Masvidal pulling out of the UFC 269 bout, after what many believed would be the ‘peoples’ main event’ of the card.

Masvidal was set to face Edwards after the two of them brawled backstage two years ago following a UFC London event. The two welterweights have gone back-and-forth in the media and on Twitter since that moment.

Masvidal and Edwards were looking forward to a potential No. 1 contender bout at UFC 269. Belal Muhammad, Khazmat Chimaev, and Gilbert Burns are just a few of the names who have made their interest known regarding a fight with Edwards on short notice.
