The new UFC light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz was met by an army of fans when he arrived back in Poland following a successful trip to Abu Dhabi.

Blachowicz squared off against Dominick Reyes in the UFC co-main event on Saturday (September 26) with the recently vacant 205lb title on the line. The 37-year-old entered the fight as the underdog but proved the oddsmakers wrong by making quick work of Reyes to become UFC light-heavyweight champion.

Blachowicz enjoyed a successful first round and was able to dictate the pace of the fight, land shots, and hurt Reyes with nasty kicks to the body. In the second he closed the show. Both fighters traded shots early into the second stanza but Blachowicz got the better of it. A clearly wobbled Reyes started to move backward but the Polish power puncher swarmed for the finish.

The first ever Polish UFC champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk was quick to revel in her countryman’s victory and it appears the people of Poland share her excitement as many of them chose to meet Blachowicz at the airport as he returned with his new UFC belt – check it out.

Who should Jan Blachowicz make his first title defence against?

Colby Covington Respects Dana White For ‘Not Bowing To The Woke Mob’

Colby Covington

Colby Covington has heaped praise on UFC president Dana White for defending fighters right to free speech in the aftermath of UFC Vegas 11.

Covington has found himself in hot water for comments made before and after beating Tyron Woodley in Las Vegas on September 19. Most notable was a remark he made while involved in a heated debate with welterweight champion Kamaru Usman on live TV.

During the exchange, Covington was heard bragging about receiving a call from President Donald Trump after his latest win before making what many believed to be a racist comment about Usman.

“Who did you get a call from? Did you get a call from, freaking, your little tribe? Did they give you some smoke signals for you?” Covington shouted. “You’re a joke, Marty Fakenewsman!”

The UFC boss has since come out and said he doesn’t believe Covington made any comments that could be considered racist. He also said he will not “muzzle” Covington or any other fighter moving forward.

Speaking to Submission Radio Covington was full of compliments for White who he has not always been on the most friendly of terms with.

“The backlash was not warranted. I gotta say big respect to Dana White for not bowing to the woke mob. Dana White is the only commissioner that doesn’t try and force an agenda down your throat,” Covington said.

“Like, Basketball, NFL, they are trying to force a one-sided agenda down your throat – the woke mob. They want to force their politics down your throat and you have to accept it and if you don’t we’re not gonna pay you. Dana White is not like that. He’s not trying to limit my free speech. This is America. We have freedoms in America. He’s not telling me what I should and shouldn’t do and he’s OK with which way I wanna go.

“That’s what I love most about Dana White and the UFC as a whole because they don’t limit their fighters freedom of speech and they don’t take away our rights. They let us be who we wanna be. There’s nothing that I said that was racist and there’s nothing that I did that was racist. End of story. Next question.”

Do you think Colby Covington should be censored by the UFC?

Stephen Thompson Not Interested In Fight Against Khamzat Chimaev

Thompson Chimaev

Ever since Khamzat Chimaev knocked out Gerald Meerschaert at UFC Vegas 11, the UFC have been trying to book him against a ranked opponent. However, it seems that the task to find Chimaev an opponent is more difficult than it seems. The UFC already had a plan to book Chimaev vs Maia for Fight Island but it now seems that the fight fell through.

A report by Combate came out and said that the UFC are interested in booking Stephen Thompson vs Khamzat Chimaev for the main event slot on December 19, president Dana White came out and confirmed the fight has been offered to Wonderboy, “We’ve offered it to Wonderboy.” White also added that Wonderboy is interested in a fight against Leon Edwards, “Wonderboy wants to fight Leon Edwards.”

Reporter Ariel Helwani tweeted that the UFC were indeed interested in making that fight, between Thompson and Chimaev, happen in December but Wonderboy is not “interested” in it. Thompson has been looking to return to the octagon for the first time since his victory over Vicente Luque at Madison Square Garden in November, however it seems he is interested in someone ranked above him as he looks to try and earn a third title opportunity.

Khamzat Chimaev has been on a tear ever since his UFC debut at Fight Island 1, finishing all his opponents while jumping between the Welterweight division and the Middleweight division. Chimaev has been very vocal in trying to get a next fight, he even claimed he would stop both the Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and the Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Chimaev has now called out Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz, Kamaru Usman, Israel Adesanya, Stephen Thompson and many more. The UFC now believe Chimaev is ready for a big step up in competition and are looking at giving him a main event slot in December.

Justin Gaethje Calls Conor McGregor A Liar: ‘Anything To Not Look Like A Bitch’

Justin Gaethje

Interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje has chimed in on the ongoing public spat between former dual weight champion Conor McGregor and UFC president Dana White.

Last week McGregor posted a series to tweet that included old messages he had exchanged with the UFC boss. White told reporters at UFC 253 that ‘Notorious’ had broken “man code” by releasing private chats, he said.

“This is some man-code stuff. It’s just something you don’t do. It’s one of the dirtiest things you can do.”

McGregor quickly fired back at his boss, taking to social media to accuse White of lying about him in public, he wrote.

“Code was broke when you lied about me turning down fights mate. I said Justin in May and you went and said I did not want to fight. It’s not about Diego. Diego was a filler to get more fights in. Also you have been involved in Manny talks the legal letters are there. Stop lying.”

Gaethje has now jumped in to the debate, siding with the UFC president and accusing McGregor of lying to save face.

“@TheNotoriousMMA not a good look lying on the boss. Anything to not look like a bitch. You had me in January I was calling on you left and right and not a peep. My manager asked if I wanted you after Tony but you know, fuck you. You never wanted it, you took the easy road kid,” Gaethje wrote on Twitter.

McGregor is currently retired from MMA after becoming dillusioned with the lack of fights available to him. The Irishman was last seen in action back in January at UFC 246. McGregor picked up an emphatic TKO win over MMA veteran Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, needing just 40 seconds to do so. Right now it is believed McGregor is set to return to the boxing ring where he will face eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

Gaethje will attempt to unify the lightweight division when he takes on Khabib Nurmagomedov later this month. ‘The Highlight’ earned his UFC 254 main event slot by beating Tony Ferguson earlier this year to extend his winning run to four.

Do you think Justin Gaethje is right? Is Conor McGregor lying to save face?

Neil Magny Calls To Face Khamzat Chimaev In November

Magny Chimaev

Neil Magny has offered to to be rising star Khamzat Chimaev’s next opponent.

Chimaev has enjoyed a meteoric rise since debuting for the UFC on short notice back in July. Fast forward to September and he is already 3-0 with dominant finishes in all his fights so far, including a recent 17-second first-round knockout against Gerald Meerschaert last weekend.

Many observers believe Chimaev is aleady ready to make the next step up and face a ranked opponent while some even believe he can cause champions such as Kamaru Usman and Israel Adesanya problems.

For his part, Chimaev has been eager to face Adesanya and earlier today, even called for a fight with him after the latter’s performance at UFC 253 last night.

With Chimaev asking the UFC to give him “the skinny guy,” Magny has instead suggested another skinny guy for “The Wolf” to face — himself.

“Y’all are going to learn to respect the “skinny” guys, @ufc let’s give the man what he asked for,” Magny tweeted.

Magny would post soon after revealing that a November date is what works best for him.

“What’s the hold up? I’m ready to scrap any day in November ???? @ufc

UFC president Dana White recently revealed Chimaev was offered to Stephen Thompson but that the latter was more interested in facing Leon Edwards.

Magny is a ranked opponent and would certainly be a good test for Chimaev to further prove he belongs at the top of the welterweight division. Magny is 3-0 in 2020 and is coming off a dominant unanimous decision win over former champion Robbie Lawler.
