UFC 250 is taking shape.

The promotion returns to Sao Paulo, Brazil, for UFC 250 which takes place at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium on May 9.

As per MMA Fighting, heavyweights will collide as Blagoy Ivanov meets Augusto Sakai on the card. Ivanov is coming off a unanimous decision defeat to Derrick Lewis at UFC 244 in November. It put a half to his two-fight winning streak.

Sakai, meanwhile, is 3-0 since debuting for the promotion as he looks to continue climbing up the ranks. He notably defeated the likes of Chase Sherman, Andrei Arlovski and Marcin Tybura.

Ketlen Vieira is also set to return to action on the card as she meets Marion Reneau in a women’s bantamweight contest. Vieira’s last outing was an emphatic knockout defeat at the hands of Irene Aldana at UFC 245 — her first professional defeat.

She will look to bounce back against Reneau who is currently on a two-fight losing streak. Her last outing was a unanimous decision defeat to Yana Kunitskaya in March last year. Both fighters have confirmed the matchup on social media.

There is no main event as of yet, but it is expected to be a bantamweight title fight between current champion Henry Cejudo and Jose Aldo.

Conor McGregor’s ex-coach Jonathan Dargan has reportedly been sentenced to prison time after he was found guilty of manslaughter.

Dargan killed 56-year-old Patrick Mullally after an altercation in 2016 that saw the former strike the latter with a punch. The punch turned out to be fatal as Mullally fell backwards and hit his head on the ground, dying the next day.

Four years on from the incident, Dargan has finally been sentenced for manslaughter and will be handed a five-and-half-year prison term.

“We’ll be forever grateful… Four years later, we’re still absolutely devastated by the loss of our beloved Paddy,” the victim’s sister Mary Mullally was quoted as saying. “His life revolved around being a devoted dad, caring brother, fun uncle and a cherished friend.

“We as a family miss him every day but there is also a huge group of friends who are grieving alongside us. No matter what happened today, sadly we’re left with a life sentence.”

Dargan was notably a striking coach at Ireland’s Straight Blast Gym and helped the likes of McGregor, Artem Lobov and others.

He notably showed remorse following the incident:

“I’m so sorry. It was an accident. I’m devastated and heartbroken for that man and his family. All I can say is I’m crushed,” Dargan said at the time. “If I could take back everything that happened that night I would, but all I can do is beg his family for their forgiveness. It was a genuine mistake.”

Donald Cerrone did not appreciate fans claiming he took a dive against Conor McGregor.

Cerrone faced McGregor in the UFC 246 headliner earlier this month in what was arguably the biggest fight of his career. However, it ended in an underwhelming 40-second TKO defeat for “Cowboy” who received plenty of criticism for his performance.

Many had already claimed he was a favorable opponent for McGregor given that he was previously on a two-fight losing streak. And some fans saw the manner of the defeat as Cerrone taking a dive for McGregor.

Cerrone responded to two fans who said the same in a recent Instagram post.

Here’s how the exchange went (via BJ Penn):

Fan #1: After that big payday to take a dive you have to live free
Cerrone: Take a dive you stupid motherf*cker?? Who you think your talking to? Get a f*cking life

Fan #2: Live free and get beat for money
Cerone: You think that’s funny? You feel like I’m the kind of Man that would sell my soul? Do me a favor and unfollow me if that’s how you feel

Cerrone already denied claims of taking a dive leading up to UFC 246:

“Hell no, I’m not bowing down,” Cerrone said. “There’s a bunch of sh*t going around, people keep telling me ‘I heard you’re getting paid to take a dive.’ There wouldn’t be enough money in the world for someone to pay me to take a dive.

“I could never look myself in the mirror if somebody paid me to take a dive. Sh*t, never happen. I’d rather fight for free than take money to f*cking lose. That’s not me. I’m going to fight my a** off like I do every time.”

It should be pretty clear that Cerrone isn’t the type of fighter do that nor anyone else in the UFC, ideally.

Regardless, what do you think of those claims?
