Daniel Cormier has a very interesting and unique plan on how to save UFC 249.

Although UFC president, Dana White says they have a new location with no fans allowed, Cormier has his own idea to save the card. He was on DC & Helwani on ESPN and shared a hilarious take that involves a private jet.

“This is why I am not the president of the UFC, because I would pick them all up,” Cormier said (via BJPENN.com). “I’d pick them all up! I would take my jet and I would say hey, where’s Jessica Andrade at, Brazil? Who else is on this card that lives out of the country? Let’s say there’s a whole bunch of Brazilian fighters on the card, I’d say you guys all meet at Jessica Andrade’s house, I’m coming over there. Rose Namajunas – oh, you’re in Colorado, and there’s a guy in Oklahoma? You guys meet in Kansas somewhere, I’m stopping in Kansas to pick you guys up.

“We’re all flying to China, because hey, the Chinese have got it figured out! We’re going to fight in China,” Cormier added. “Okay, he’s in Orlando [Jacare Souza]. I’m making a stop in Florida, okay, there are multiple people fighting out of Florida. Sijara Eubanks, she can drive!”

Daniel Cormier says having three or four hubs around the world makes the most sense. But, fighters like Ion Cutelaba who is by himself in a foreign country will be off the card.

Whether or not UFC 249 even happens is to be seen as many don’t think it will with travel bans happening around the world. But, White says it will in a location to be announced where rumors are that it will be in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.

What do you make of Daniel Cormier’s hilarious plan to save UFC 249 on April 18?

Stipe Miocic isn’t focused on fighting during the COVID-19 pandemic that is impacting the entire world.

Many countries are in lockdown while the sports world is shut down due to the virus. The UFC has postponed three events but Dana White remains adamant UFC 249 on April 18 will be their return event.

Yet, for UFC heavyweight champion in Stipe Miocic, he says the trilogy against Daniel Cormier was set for the summer. But now, with the pandemic shutting gyms down, Miocic says he is focusing on his other job of being a firefighter. So, he isn’t thinking about fighting at all.

“It’s looking like summer. But with this going on right now, honestly I’m not even worried about that,” Miocic said in an interview with UFC reporter Megan Olivi (via MMA Junkie). “I’m worried about firefighting, and the paramedics out there and I got to do what I got to do. There’s so many people out there that need help. There’s people that are going to stay at home and some of them might get sick. I’m putting myself in harm’s way and I’m okay with that. But I’ve got to make sure when I’m home at the end of the day my family is okay.”

This is no doubt an interesting time for everyone. Miocic is deciding to help people out firefighting instead of fighting. Although UFC president Dana White says he has a new location for UFC 249, many fans believe the fight won’t happen due to travel bans and the status if COVID-19.

When Stipe Miocic will return to the Octagon is to be seen. But, the champ did recently get cleared to return following an eye injury. Last time out, he TKO’d Daniel Cormier to regain the heavyweight belt.

The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced Dr. Lucas Penchel has accepted a two-year sanction for violating USADA-UFC policy.

In 2017 the Brazilian doctor provided intravenous infusions to UFC middleweight Paulo Costa and his brother Carlos Costa. The top 185lb contender said the IV was to help him recover from weight cuts and was prescribed by Dr Penchel. Although the IV consisted of legal substances the amounts administered were above the 50ml limit. As a result, the Costa brothers both received six-month bans from the sport.

For his role in the violation, Dr Penchel has been handed a two-year ban. USADA announced and explained their decision in a statement released on Monday evening, it read.

“Dr. Lucas Penchel, of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, has
accepted a two-year sanction for a violation of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy (UFC
ADP) resulting from his complicity in the administration and use of over-limit
intravenous (IV) infusions of permitted substances on June 2, 2017 and November
3, 2017 by Carlos Costa and Paulo Costa, respectively,” USADA officials wrote in
the statement.

“In 2017, IV infusions and/or injections
of more than 50 mL per 6-hour period were prohibited except for those
legitimately received in the course of hospital admissions, surgical
procedures, or clinical investigations under the UFC ADP. The UFC ADP has since
been amended and now prohibits IV infusions and/or injections of more than 100
mL per 12-hour period with the added exception of those determined to be
medically justified and within the standard of care by a licensed physician and
administered by a licensed medical professional.”

“Dr. Penchel, like all
athlete support personnel, was entrusted to help athletes make safe and
informed decisions, but instead, he violated anti-doping rules and his oath to
best protect athletes’ health and safety.”

Is it right for the doctor
to receive a ban four times more severe than the fighters?

Aljamain Sterling, Cory Sandhagen

Bantamweight contenders Aljamain Sterling and Cody Sandhagen are set to throw down at UFC San Diego.

According to TSN, the bout is tentatively scheduled for May 16 at Pechanga Arena in San Diego. Due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic, that date is uncertain, meaning this event and fight could take place at a later date.

Just two weeks ago, it was believed Sandhagen would be facing former champion, Dominick Cruz, in his long-awaited comeback fight. Posting on Instagram, the 27-year-old Aurora, Colorado native, said. “I said yes.. waiting on you @dominickcruz – it would be an honor man. Co-main in San Diego?”

Yesterday Sandhagen confirmed he wouldn’t be fighting Cruz next, as the 135lb great changed his mind and decided he didn’t want to fight at UFC San Diego.

“What I know to be true is that (Cruz) asked to fight in San Diego, I’ve been asking for a fight from any of those guys ahead of me, (Petr) Yan, (Marlon) Moraes or Aljamain (Sterling),” Sandhagen told TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter. “Then I heard that Cruz was looking for a fight and I thought perfect, I wanted to get something in May at the latest. I think the UFC was on board with doing that fight and then from what I understand, Cruz asked to also be on that San Diego card and then changed his mind and didn’t want to fight on the card. You can interpret that however you want, but that’s the information that I got.”

Sandhagen is unbeaten inside the UFC and holds five wins – each more impressive than the last. In his past two fights, the ‘Sandman’ has beaten top contenders Raphael Assuncao and John Lineker to put himself in title contention.

Sterling has been in the UFC for six years, winning 10 of his 13 fights. Lately ‘Funk Master’ has been in peak form, beating the likes of Pedro Muhnoz and Jimmie Rivera. He seemed to be right in line for a shot at champion Henry Cejudo before being overlooked for Jose Aldo, who doesn’t hold a win at 135lbs.

Who wins when Aljamain Sterling faces off against Cory Sandhagen at UFC San Diego?
