Andy Foster believes the learning experience from the case involving Jon Jones makes him think USADA shouldn’t decide punishments for UFC fighters. The California State Athletic Commission Executive Director was a big supporter of geting the former UFC light heavyweight champion reinstated.

The CSAC held a meeting on Tuesday where they decided if Jones should be reinstated. This is where they ruled that Jones was reinstated after he agreed to pay a $205,000 fine and do a community outreach program. Also, he had to undergo the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) program before his next fight.

Jones failed an in-competition drug test for Turinabol at UFC 214 after he beat Daniel Cormier by third-round TKO. This fight took place in the main event in July of 2017 in Anaheim, California.

Back in February, it was revealed that the CSAC revoked Jones’ MMA license and fined him $205,000. A few months ago, USADA reduced the suspension to just 18 months following arbitration. Now, he’s set to fight again.

Foster later stated in an interview that he thinks USADA plays a role in drug testing for the UFC but shouldn’t decide how the fighters are punished. “I think it’s good to have doping controls,” Foster today told MMAjunkie. “I think this process was a wreck, and I think we learned from the process. If we keep doing this to the fighters, that’s not serving the public interest. I just don’t think that process is right. I think that the law backs up my thoughts.”

“Please understand, I’m not saying (they have a conflict of interest). But there’s a perception there, and I am saying this: I do believe there’s been quite a few cases that could have been solved quicker and cheaper and got the same results instead of going through this long, arduous process.”

Francis Ngannou’s coach opened up on why he thinks the title contender returning to his roots was the reason for his latest win.

As seen in the headliner of UFC Beijing, Ngannou TKO’d Curtis Blaydes in 44 seconds in the first round of this heavyweight slugfest. The event went down on November 24, 2018 at Cadillac Arena in Beijing, China. UFC’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass, aired the entire show. This was after he suffered two big losses.

First to then-UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic at the UFC 220 PPV at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Secondly, to Derrick Lewis at the UFC 226 pay-per-view event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both of these losses came by decision.

Fernand Lopez, who is the head coach of MMA Factory in Paris, France, gave his take on his fighters’ latest win. This is when he stated in an interview that he thinks Ngannou coming back to the gym led to his recent victory.

He also brought up how Francis lost his two previous fights while training at the UFC Performance Center. Thus, they have plans to keep Ngannou at the MMA Factory in attempts to keep his career on track.

“Francis Ngannou did all his camps in Paris; he was winning all the fights,” Lopez told Bloody Elbow. “When he went to Vegas in PI, then he had the problem losing to Stipe. Then he had the second fight in the PI and he lost [to Lewis].

“We worked a lot to have this victory. We really did have a good camp. Two months of hard camp. We tried to work on everything on the mental side, on the conditioning, on the skills. The work paid off. He showed that he’s still there for a long time. He’s not going anywhere.”

Tony Ferguson responds to the latest callout made by fellow top contender Dustin Poirier through the power of Twitter. It all started once Poirier voiced his frustration with the lightweight division as there is a hold-up at the top. The reason for that is due to Conor McGregor and UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov being on the sidelines. Until the NSAC makes their ruling regarding their involvement in the UFC 229 brawl, these two stars aren’t allowed to fight.

This leads us to Ferguson and Poirier as they are the next fighters in line for the strap. UFC President Dana White even tossed out two potential ideas for these stars. That would be to have Ferguson challenge Khabib for the strap. On the flip side, McGregor would fight Poirier at the same time. Then the winners of these fights would compete against each other. It would be like a mini lightweight tournament.

This leads us to Ferguson responding to the latest callout by Poirier who started it when he sent out this first tweet:

“Just woke up and read theres gonna be more waiting around at the top of the lightweight division. Let’s give the fans the violence they deserve @TonyFergusonXT. Let’s go @ufc !!! Stop holding up my weight class!”

The former UFC interim lightweight champ fired back with his own tweet and doesn’t appear to be interested in making that fight happen.

“I Liked You Better When You Were Quiet Kid. Don’t Ruin A Good Thing You Got “Goin’… Diamond” @DustinPoirier TonyFergusonMMA Is Tops, Much More Efficient Than @TheNotoriousMMA & @TeamKhabib In The Same Day. I Already Know How To Beat You By The Way You Tweet. Sit Down.”
